Where did the year go to? It’s time for Christmas parties—almost……

How about getting together with some of the other groups & supporters & promoting what High Five does at the same time? “Forum 50+”is celebrating its AGM on Wednesday November 12th at the Shay Stadium 10-00am to 2-00pm. We have a stall booked to display some our information. Could anyone spare a little time to help to run it? Sue is going to talk about High Five & do a Pilates demo. Various other groups have stalls so there should be interesting things to look at. There will be a buffet lunch which I think will be free---now there’s a temptation for you. Do come & visit even if you can’t stay to help. AGE UK are very involved with this & they have been very supportive to High Five.

“Getting to know you”

Most of our classes seem to be thriving. The Singers are always looking for more members, especially men. Tai Chi is enthusiastically supported & helping many to keep mobile. The art class still has a home at the Network Centre which we understand will now be known as the Addy. The Gentle exercise groups keep coming back for more & love the company as much as the exercise. The Kurling group has kept functioning despite the absence of its leaders. Hoots mon - the Scottish dancers cannot stop laughing. You would be very welcome if you wanted to pop in to see what we do, we would not charge you anything for the pleasure.

On Thursday Nov 6th to Tuesday Nov 11th you will have opportunity to visit the exhibition or sit quietly to pray. On Sunday Nov 9th 10-30 there will be a Service of Remembrance lead by Kath Melling. If you have any photos or memorabilia which you are willing to lend have a word with any of the congregation of Highgate, who attend our classes. We have a few at the morning Gentle exercise class.

The date for our Christmas party is Dec 13th. Can we depend on some of you to organise some refreshments? We still have to have a committee meeting to make final arrangements but I am sure the time will be 2-00pm start. We hope that you will meet David our treasurer for the first time. After the Christmas party High Five will close until Mon Jan 5th.

“The first mince pie”

The Pilates training still goes on. On Monday Oct 13 I delivered the case study work to Menston for assessment. It has been a bit like climbing a scree slope---one step forward & two steps back - Phew. Now I have the pleasure of the final assessment on Nov 2nd. I am still hoping to run a class at Mount Tabor 3-15pm on Tuesdays & another on Thursdays 1-30pm at Highgate. Both rooms are small so if you are interested get your name down. Highgate is usually warm; Mount Tabor less so. You may need to put a warm fleece on because movements are slow & careful. If you would like to join the class & have any worries about back, knee, shoulder problems or your general health please talk to you doctor firstWell a big thank you to all our members for being so good to be with, helpful, supportive & encouraging.Enjoy your Christmas celebrations & come back in the new year full enthusiasm & good funBest wishes from Your Committee

With the help of Voluntary Action Calderdale we have been updating some of our policies most notably our Vulnerable Adults policy. The old one was not up to speed with latest directives. We hope that will be ratified at the next committee meeting. We ask that you will all read it because it is about a shared responsibility to keep one another safe.
