November 20th, 2016

Welcome back to Malta for the 14th annual Junior Eurovision contest, held at the

Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valetta, Malta. The venue will also host the

Eurovision Young Dancers contest in 2017. The slogan for the 2016 contest will be

“Embrace”

2016 has been a year of big changes for the Junior version of Eurovision. The first

change was that Jon Ola Sand has taken over as Executive Supervisor. The show also

has changed it airing date and time to be more kid friendly; to a Sunday afternoon at

1600 CET. The voting during the contest has also changed; it is the first time that tele-

voting will not be used, instead juries made up of both adults and kids, will make up the

votes from each country. The voting between adults and kids juries will be weighted at

50/50. Along with the juries of each country, three special guest stars will also be voting

in the contest, to be given their own voting powers, just like 3 extra countries; and in

2016 these guest stars are Christer Bjorkman, Mads Grimstad and Jedward.

Our hosts for the show are Ben Camille and Valerie Vella and will see 17 countries take

to the stage in Malta. The 2016 edition saw withdrawals from Montenegro, San Marino

and Slovenia, however we saw returns from Cyprus, Israel and Poland therefore equally

the amount of countries which took part last year in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Last year’s winner, Destiny and last year’s host, and Eurovision star, Poli Genova will

form part of this year’s interval act.

So it’s time to sit back and relax and Embrace our time in Malta once again….

Our hosts for the show are Ben Camille

who previously hosted Malta’s

Eurovision national selection, MESC,

earlier this year and Valerie Vella, who

hosted MESC in 2002, both shows

which saw Ira Losco win to represent

Malta at Eurovision. Both are famous

models in Malta, so they are sure to

dazzle on stage and bring some style to

the contest.

The whole of the city will be involved in the contest this year, with events being held at

various sites around Valetta such at St George’s Square, Valletta’s waterfront, and the

Sacra Infirmeria Hall where the green room will be hosted during the show next to the

main Republic Hall where the show will take place.

The stage for 2016 looks to be

one of the best and most

sophisticated stages yet with a

big swirl reaching from the top of

the hall to the stage that looks to

“Embrace” the artists during their

performances. A second smaller

stage to the side links up to the

main one to correct even more

space for the artists to perform

as well as the hosts to do TV

links.

So it’s time to sit back and relax and Embrace our time in Malta once again…

Lyrics:

We were given the voice to speak

We were given these eyes to see

We were given a chance to choose what we believe

We were given these legs to stand

We were given these arms to fight

We were given a dream to feel alive

So if you

Feel you're driving down a lonely road

You're never gonna, never gonna, never gonna go

alone

And if you

Feel you're lost and you don't belong

You will always, you will always, you will always

have a home

Cos we're

Queens of the world don't need a crown

We're champions just scream it out

We are, we are, we are

We're millionaires don't need a dollar

Dreamers in the brightest hour

We are, we are, we are

Are you tired of thinking small

Afraid that you might fall

Aren't you tired of living life inside of the lines

There's a yes for every no

There's a high for every low

There's no better time than to start here tonight

So if you

Feel you're lost and you don't belong

You will always, you will always, you will always

have a home

Cos we're

Queens of the world don't need a crown

We're champions just scream it out

We are, we are, we are

We're millionaires don't need a dollar

Dreamers in the brightest hour

We are, we are, we are

We are who we are

We are leaders in the dark

And we're following the light of our hearts

And they'll

They'll try and break us

They'll never change us

And they can't take away

Who we are

Cos we're

Queens of the world don't need a crown

We're champions just scream it out

We are, we are, we are

We're millionaires don't need a dollar

Dreamers in the brightest hour

We are, we are, we are

Breaking silence all the night till the sunlight

Choosing music of my life till the sunlight

This is jazz, this is trance, this my light

Breaking silence all the night till the sunlight

Fuar, fuar is leat féin

Ag lorg rud a thugann solas duit

Réalt go hard sa spéir

Tú ag iarraidh ardú go dtí a airde

Ardaigh, ardaigh suas go h-ard

Lorg do chaisleán, Lorg do ghlór

Bríce ar bríce,déanfaimid é le chéile

Táim ag seas go hard

Mé féin is tú féin, lámh i lámh go deo

Tógfaimid balla, balla caisleán

Eitleoimid go dtí ár bhflaithis

Lorgóimid ár mbaile

Ní bheidh tú leat féin, leat féin i gcónaí

Lyrics:

Sono queste le mie parole

Non hanno confine non hanno prigione

Vecchie barche portate dal vento

Poi raccolte per una canzone

Te le dedico ora e per sempre

Sperando che un giorno tu possa ascoltarle

Hanno i suoni di un posto lontano

Come ali le lascio librare

Qui il mare parla di te

Di quello che mi hai insegnato

Del coraggio che mi ha cambiato

Sei la forza dentro di me

La donna che mi ha voluto

La donna che io sarò

Sono queste le mie parole

Alianti di carta che splendono al sole

Desideri di piccole cose

Ingranaggi di un solo motore

Tu rimarrai la mia parte migliore

Anche quando sarai assai meno forte

Nelle notti che spiaggiano stelle

E quando un giorno mi innamorerò

Qui la vita parla di te

Di quello che mi hai insegnato

Di un tempo che è già cambiato

Sei la forza dentro di me

La donna che mi ha aspettato

E che mi assomiglia un po'

E finalmente qui noi siamo

Questa sera insieme ancora

Mi ritrovo nel tuo sguardo

E nel tuo viso che mi sfiora

I want to tell you mom

All the words that

I could never say before

Be the center of my own world

Stay with me and

Hold me in your embrace

...life is telling about you

The courage that made me change

The things that you said to me

Sei la forza dentro di me

La donna che mi ha cresciuto

The woman that I will be

Dear mom

These are my words,

They have no border

They have no prison

Lyrics:

I-I-I-I-I’ll keep chasing rainbows

Searching through the skies for the pot of gold

Remember there’s no limit

No end and no beginning

Living for the moments

And all the happy times that we share

We’ll make it through the storm

Like fire when it’s cold

That’s what friends are for, after all

When times seem to get hard

I’ll never let you down

I’ll be your parachute

Yeah, I’ll take care of you

Until you reach the ground

Till you are safe and sound

I’ll be your parachute

Yeah, I’ll be there for you

Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh (2)

P-P-P-Parachute

Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh (2)

We can last forever

But then again, forever’s never enough

Light the sky on fire

We’ll keep on going higher

We’ll be making memories

And we won’t have a minute to spare

We’ll keep moving on

Together we are strong

That’s for friends are for, after all

When times seem to get hard

I’ll never let you down

I’ll be your parachute

Yeah, I’ll take care of you

Until you reach the ground

Till you are safe and sound

I’ll be your parachute

Yeah, I’ll be there for you

Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh (2)

P-P-P-Parachute

Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh (2)

Let’s jump and dive and fly into the sky

We’ll ignite the night

Like spotlights we will shine

Just like stars, a million lights

Hold tight, oh hold

P-P-P-Parachute

Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh

Ooh ooh ooh parachute

Uvek mi se tako javi

Jedna zaraza u glavi

K'o da nisam sam

Svima nama ovaj korak

Da se spoje razne boje

Crni i žuti, beli

Ko lud je da nas deli

Podignite u vis ruke

Ko za ljubav mari

Bolje da nas ima vise

To je dobar znak

Onaj koji bi da ćuti

I da samo kvari

Ne moze nam ništa stvarno

Nije tako jak

Kad se spoje razne boje

Oteraće mrak

Hajde sada svi u glas

U la la la la la
