A Letter from the Rector My sweet brothers and sisters in Christ, So, Jesus goes down to the river to get baptized. And, after the baptism, he’s coming out of the water, the heavens open up and a voice comes out of heaven that says “You are my beloved, on you my favor rests”. Can you see it? Can you feel it? I’d like to think that Jesus was pretty amazed at the whole experi-ence and came out smiling, and radiating love, a love that he would share with the entire world. That image makes me smile and it is a smile that I’ve taken with me ever since God put the verse on my heart. The verse is a paraphrase of Mark 1:11, written in a book by Henri Nouwen, titled “Life of the Beloved”. In the book he speaks of our belovedness; that has been at the heart of our meet-ings and will be fully realized over the course of the NCPP #158 weekend. Praise!! I continue to be amazed that we have gone from a totally blank page to pages filled with team and guest names. Each team member has brought such beauti-ful and uniquely individual gifts and lovingly shared them with each other. As team members, we’ve had to surrender, sacrifice, and serve, and we will contin-ue to do so up till the moment the truck is packed on Sunday night. The guests will also experience surrender, sacrifice and service as the receive an invitation, discern their answer, say yes, make their way to camp, and participate in the weekend. I ask for you to cover us all in prayer in the days and weeks to come. This pilgrimage movement continues to bless my life and I’m excited (although not anticipating) to see how it moves in the lives of the guests that God is bring-ing to Camp Dixie on March 7. There are a bounty of opportunities for you to be part of this weekend, to live into your belovedness alongside all of us… Sign up for the prayer banner, join us in transforming the camp on Thursday and again on Sunday, join us for sendoff, serenade, closura, or come to Ultreya March 23. If it is not possible for you to do any of these things, I ask you to pray and pray hard for the team and the guest. Prayer is central to these week-ends; I think we all can attest to it’s power. In the end, just as Jesus came out of the water and surprised us all by the ridicu-lous grace that he shares with us, Jesus is going to show up at Camp Dixie and will surprise us all in ways we cannot even begin to image. Finally, none of this would have been possible without several things. First and foremost, the love of our savior Jesus Christ who lives and breathes in me… and in all of you. Second, the amazing open hearts and sweet spirits of the NCPP #158 team. Last, but certainly not least, my “other self”, the one who has kept me centered since the day I got the call to be rector… my Head Cha Lisa Buckner. Peace. Su

Sharing the GIFT of Serenade
Saturday, March 9; Camp Dixie Gymnasium
Gathering for Communion, Finger Foods & Snacks: 6 pm
Singing Practice to follow
Suggested food & snacks: veggies with dip, chips, pretzels, cookies, fruit tray
Important Info About Serenade:
We heard lots of positive comments about serving communion as part of our
preparation for sharing the gift of serenade. Come join us as we gather at the
table to break bread together and focus our attention on the grace that our
good Father will blanket the guests and team with.
Over the last year the council has looked at recent Serenade trends and has
realized that many serenaders are skipping the dinner before practice. With
that in mind, we are continuing a lighter fare with finger foods. Please plan
accordingly and give us constructive feedback after Serenade.
Remember that Serenade is meant to be an inclusive experience for ALL
GUESTS. Sing out and resist the temptation to engage in conversation with
others. PLEASE: Refrain from touching guests and team. Make sure to
move around the room so everyone gets to see their special someone.
Let your Christ light shine brightly and light up Camp Dixie!

sisters and brothers received their newsletter. If not, ask them to update their e-mail address!
Would You Like To Serve On A Pilgrimage Team?
If you would like to serve on a team, download the team application form from the NCPP web site www.ncpilgrimage.org. Fill it out and send it to the rector of the weekend. On the form, you can indicate your preference for your role on the team. However, depending on the needs of the team, preferences may not always be accommodated. It is not always possible for rectors to find a spot for everyone who wishes to serve on a weekend, but they are particularly interested in having new members of the 4th Day Community serve on teams.
Remember you may also serve by sponsoring guests, being part of the prayer banner, providing meals for team meetings, supplying palanca for guests, participating in serenade, or helping with set-up and cleanup of camp.

A Message from Our Eastern Council Moderator
I am doing a Lenten Study based on the book, “24 Hours that Changed the World,” by Adam Ham-
ilton. With this book in mind, I thought about how the 72 hours spent on a Pilgrimage weekend
changes the lives on those in attendance. Many people have arrived on Thursday night with a
“deer in the headlights” look, but by Sunday have made life-long friends and have a deeper
relationship with our Brother, Jesus the Christ.
Let’s do our part to help the guests for NCPP #158 have a life-changing experience. As members of
the 4th Day, you are invited to attend Send-Off Thursday night, Serenade Saturday evening, and
Closura on Sunday. Also, please be in prayer for the guests and team throughout the weekend,
that God’s love will be shown and lives will forever be changed.
