40th Anniversary
Edition (Robin Hardy, UK 1973,
94mins)
The first full 2k restoration of
Robin Hardy’s classic film is

faithful film than the original release.

Magic Mirror
+ Q&A with Sarah
Pucill(Sarah Pucill, UK 2013,
75mins)
Magic Mirror combines a re-
staging of the French
Surrealist artist Claude
Cahun’s black and white
photographs with selected
extracts from her book Aveux Non Avenus. In surrealist
kaleidoscopic fashion the film creates a weave between
image and word, exploring the links between Cahun’s
photographs and writing as well as between those of the
films of Sarah Pucill. Showing in conjunction with the
Department of Theatre, Film and Television, Aberystwyth
University.

This is Spinal Tap (Rob Reiner, USA 1984,
79mins)
Marti DiBergi (director Rob
Reiner) follows the fictional heavy metal music band Spinal
Tap during a US concert tour. With its much-loved
characters, quotable lines, and accomplished comic
performances, This is Spinal Tap is perhaps the ultimate cult
comedy.
27th & 28th Nov
The Epic of
Everest (Captain John
Noel, UK 1924, 85mins)
The official film record of the
legendary Everest expedition
of 1924 is one of the most remarkable films in the BFI
National Archive. The third attempt to climb
Everest culminated in the deaths of two climbers, George
Mallory and Andrew Irvine, and sparked a debate over
whether or not they did indeed reach the summit. Filming in
brutally harsh conditions with a hand-cranked camera,
Captain John Noel captured images of breathtaking beauty
and the vulnerability of people struggling in the world’s
harshest landscapes.
29th Nov – 5th
Dec

the deafening silence signalling they’ve lost contact with
Earth, and any chance of rescue…. Stars George Clooney
and Sandra Bullock.

A woman’s place is with
her cooking pots: that is
the firm belief of Subrata
Mazumdar, a young bank
clerk struggling to support
his entire extended family
on a meagre salary, and he is duly horrified when his wife offers
to help by going out to work as a ‘salesgirl’. Satyajit Ray’s
wonderfully enjoyable portrait of mid-50s Calcutta, a society still
adjusting to Independence, displays warmth, wit and a genuine
insight on society.
