Perhaps it’s you, someone you love, or a

dear friend. As the COVID-19 pandemic

drags on, and especially as the holidays

draw near, people are feeling lonely and de-

pressed. We want to help! The Community

and Seniors Together (CAST) organization is

creating a new program called CAST Con-

nection to reach out to Seniors in need

with a phone call, letter, or socially-distant

visit. No charge. No obligation. Just a caring,

personal contact during these unprecedented

times.

Would you, or someone you know, like to be

contacted? Or perhaps you’d like to volunteer

to reach out to those in need?

Please call us at 507-354-3212 (leave mes-

sage), email us at [email protected], or

drop us a note at CAST, 600 N. German St,

This Week’s Free Movie from Open Culture

A reporter (Barbara Stanwyck) writes a fictitious column about someone

named "John Doe," who is distraught at America's neglect of the little

people and plans to kill himself. The newspaper then hires a ballplayer-

turned-hobo (Gary Cooper) to pose as John Doe. In a series of radio

addresses written by a publisher with fascist leanings, Doe captures the

public's imagination. When he finally realizes he has been used, Doe

comes to his senses and becomes the man he never knew he could be.
