Our Parish Mission Statement We are a welcoming Catholic Christian community alive in the faith! Through Baptism, we are called to become the heart, the hands and the voice of Jesus. We do this through Eucharist, liturgical celebrations, prayer, and nurturing parish ministries, “That in all things God may be glorified.” (Rule of St. Benedict)

SECOND SUNDAY IN LENT

We Are to be Transformed

Today’s showing forth of God’s glory is filled with a light that astonishes and reveals. Jesus transfigured on Mount Tabor energizes even the sleepy apostles, who see but cannot get hold of it.

They can be forgiven for not apprehending the full meaning of this extraordinary vision of a transfigured Jesus with Elijah and Moses. The whole of the Law and prophets is summed up here on this mountain.

The transfiguration on Mount Tabor is handed over to us this Sunday. As Paul reminds us, it is we who are to be transformed. The light and life of the Resurrection are set forth here so we do not lose heart and fall entirely asleep.

This Sunday looks to Easter. It looks to transformation. It asks us to lift up our heads and acknowledge the risen Lord as our light and our salvation.

WELCOME HOME TO HEALING As a family or with a friend…

Do you have a position to fill? Please let us know! Send a message with the job description and contact information to: [email protected].

We can and must console the mother who lost her child, the young person with AIDS, the family whose house burned down, the soldier who was wounded, the teenager who contemplates suicide, the old man who wonders why he should stay alive. To console does not mean to take away the pain but rather to be there and say, "You are not alone, I am with you. Together we can carry the burden. Don't be afraid. I am here." That is consolation. We all need to give it as well as to receive it.

ROSES FOR LIFE: THANK YOU!

The Elizabeth Ann Seton Council # 6904 Knights of Columbus would like to thank you for your very, very generous support of our Roses for Life Drive this January 16 & 17 at Notre Dame of Mt. Carmel Church and February 6 and 7 at Our Lady of Mercy Church. We raised $1,610; of that total $805 will go to Several Sources Shelters of Ramsey and $805 will be given to Birth Haven of Newton, so they may continue with their good work of saving young mothers and their babies. May God bless you all for all your prayers and donations; your very generous donations will go a long way to ensuring that a young mother and her baby will have a chance at a better life. Thank you again and God bless!

IS SOMEONE'S DRINKING CAUSING YOU CONCERN?

Come join the Al-Anon group here at Notre Dame. Meetings are held every Thursday, 8:30-9:30pm, in Rm. 112. At Al-Anon meetings, the friends and family members of problem drinkers share their experiences and learn how to apply the principles of the Al-Anon program to their individual situations. Younger family members and friends attend

Alateen meetings (http://al-anon.org/for-alateen). Newcomers to Al-Anon are often interested in learning from members whose personal situations most closely resemble theirs. After attending Al-Anon meetings, they begin to understand how much they have in common with everyone affected by someone else's drinking, regardless of the specific details of their personal situation. Participants learn that they are not alone in the problems they face, and that they have choices that lead to greater peace of mind, whether the drinker continues to drink or not.
