PARISH ANNOUNCEMENTS

Pastor Installation, October 15:

Bishop Olmsted will install Fr. Passo as pastor of Mater Misericordiae on

October 15 at the 11:00ammass. It is always a special occasion to have

his Excellency the Bishop visit our parish and to have him in choir for

mass. Following the mass we will enjoy with the Bishop a pulled pork lunch catered by Rudy’s BBQ. Fr. Passo hopes many of you will alter your

schedules and attend the 11am mass that Sunday to have a good showing for the Bishop and to welcome him to our parish. We are very fortunate to have such a good bishop at the helm of our diocese.

Helpers Needed, October 15: Immediately follow-

ing the CCD classes next Sunday (Oct. 15), we need many strong men and women to take down the divid-

ers and move tables and chairs around in preparation for the Bishop’s reception in the Church hall. This obvi-ously needs to be done as quickly as possible for those who wish to attend the 11:00am Mass and for the la-

dies to prepare the church hall for the reception. Please lend a helping hand.

Server Practice Cancelled: There will be no server

practice on Saturday, October 14, as the priests will be preparing the church for the Bishop’s visit.

Family Adventure: Parents and children are invited

to hike at South Mountain Park with our energetic priests on Saturday, October 21 at 10:30am! Please bring water, a sack lunch which we plan to eat at the top of the mountain and dress accordingly. Allow about 3 hours for this event. Directions: From Phoenix, head

south on Central Ave to enter the park. Take the sec-ond left and meet in the lot for the Kiwanis Trail-head. RSVP: [email protected] or 480-403-1091.

Parish Picnic: Please save the date for October 28

from 3-7pm at Encanto Park. We will have our first annual parish picnic. There will be plenty of food and

games for the whole family. More details are to come in the Notitiae.

Save the date, November 4: Casino night for

young adults. Details to follow soon.

Potluck Sundays will resume in November. The

first Sunday of the month will be “Potluck Sunday” in the church hall to enjoy fellow Catholic camaraderie and to meet the many wonderful people of our Par-

ish. The next potluck will be November 5 after the 11:00 am Mass.

Tupperware: Fr. Passo and Fr. Malain thank all the

ladies who have been so kind and signed up for the bring the priests a meal program. We have however,

accumulated quite a collection of tupperware and plates. All these items have been placed in the church

hall kitchen. You may search and retrieve your tupper-ware there. God reward you.

to thank the following individuals for coming forward and giving their time to teach Catechism to our young ones. Please pray for the catechism teachers and their students. The teachers are as follows: K - Barbara

SUNDAY COLLECT. In Thy tender mercy, direct our hearts, we beseech Thee, O Lord, because without Thee we are not able to

please Thee. Through our Lord.

SUNDAY EPISTLE: 1 Corinthians 1: 4-8 Brethren, I give thanks to my God always for you, for the grace of God that is given you in Christ Jesus, that in all things you are made rich in Him, in all utterance and in all knowledge, as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you, so that nothing is wanting to you in any grace, waiting for the manifestation of our Lord

Jesus Christ. Who also will confirm you into the end without crime, in the day of the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. ..

SUNDAY GOSPEL: St. Matthew 9: 1-8 At that time, Jesus entering into a boat, passed over the water and came into His own city. And behold they brought Him one sick of the palsy lying in a bed: and

Jesus seeing their faith, said to the man sick of the palsy: Be of good heart, son, thy sins are forgiven thee. And behold some of the scribes said within them-

selves: He blasphemeth. And Jesus seeing their thoughts said: Why do you think evil in your hearts? whether is it easier to say: Thy sins are forgiven thee; or to say: Arise and walk? But that you may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins (then said He to the man sick of the palsy): Arise, take

up thy bed, and go into thy house. And he arose, and went into his house. And the multitude seeing it, feared, and glorified God who had given such power to men.

On Friday, October 13 to commemorate the 100th an-niversary of the last apparition of Our Lady of Fatima,

MMM will celebrate by having a sung Votive Mass of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Following the mass Fr. Passo will consecrate the parish to the Immaculate Heart using the consecration prayer of Pope Pius XII. Bishop Olmsted has requested the consecration of

parishes and families saying in the Catholic Sun:

“Along with the diocesan consecration, I also encour-age our priests to consecrate their parishes and our families to consecrate their homes to the Immaculate

Heart of Mary.”

We hope many of you can come to celebrate such a great occasion for Our Lady.

Family Prayer of Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary

for the Centenary of Our Lady of Fatima

M other Mary, we consecrate our entire family to your Immaculate Heart. We desire to renew the

promises of our baptism and place each mem-ber of our family, through this consecration, into loving union with your Holy Family.

At Fatima, dear Mother of God, you appeared with St. Joseph and the Child Jesus, blessing the world. Inter-cede for our family that each of us grow in the virtues

and joy which you lived as a family. Help us to grow as faithful disciples of Jesus; help our domestic church to grow as a light which gives your Son glory from our home.

Our Lady of Fatima, pray for Jesus’ peace to fill each member of our family. (You may wish to name each family member, or a particular family member, at this

point if it seems right to do so.) Never permit any member of our family to stray from the Catholic Faith. For any member of our family who is beset by doubts, we beseech you to be their guide through the darkness back to the light of your Son. Watch over our persever-ance so that we may all one day be reunited with you and the whole family of God in our Father’s house.

Amen.
