    THE RECORDS - - Iowa is 7-0, 3-0, with wins over Illinois State (31-14), at Iowa State (31-17), Pisburgh (27-24), North Texas (62-16),at Wisconsin (10-6), Illinois (29-20), and at Northwestern (40-10).

    Maryland (2-5, 0-3) has defeated Richmond (50-21) and SouthFlorida (35-17). The losses have been to Bowling Green (48-27),at West Virginia (45-6), Michigan (28-0), at Ohio State (49-28) andPenn State (31-30).

    THE SERIES - - Maryland leads the series 1-0, taking a 38-31decision last season in College Park. Maryland is in its secondseason as a member of the Big Ten Conference.

     COACHING RECORDS - - Kirk Ferentz is in his 20th year as acollege head coach and his 17th year as Iowa’s head coach. Hiscareer record is 134-106 and he is 122-85 at Iowa. He is ed foreighth in the Big Ten Conference in coaching wins.

    Mike Locksley was named Maryland’s interim head coach aersix games. Locksley is 0-1 with the Terrapins following the 31-30loss to Penn State. Locksley has been the Maryland oensivecoordinator since 2011. He served as the head coach at NewMexico from 2009-11. He was an assistant coach at Florida whenthe Hawkeyes defeated the Gators in the 2004 Outback Bowl.

    Iowa is 3-0 in the Big Ten for the third me under Kirk Ferentz. Iowa opened 3-0 in the

    Big Ten in 2009 (5-0) and 2002 (8-0).

    The Hawkeyes are 7-0 for the rst me since 2009, the second me under Kirk Ferentz,

    and the h me in school history.

    Iowa ranks second in the Big Ten (Ohio State, 13) with 12 scrimmage plays of 40-plusyards. The Hawkeyes had 12 scrimmage plays of 40-plus yards all of last season, and 13

    Junior QB C.J. Beathard is the rst quarterback in school history to win his rst eight

    career starts. He is 4-0 on the road, 4-0 at home, and 4-0 in the Big Ten.

    Iowa is ranked 11th in the FWAA-NFF Super 16 Poll for the second straight week. Iowa

    debuted in the poll last week at No. 11 (established prior to 2014).

    Iowa has two roads wins over ranked opponents (Wisconsin, Northwestern) for the rstme since 2002 (at No. 12 Penn State, 42-35; at No. 8 Michigan, 34-9). Alabama is the only

    other school with two road wins over ranked opponents this season.

    Junior DB Desmond King leads the Big Ten and ranks second naonally with six intercep-

    ons. The last Hawkeye to lead the conference in intercepons was Tyler Sash in 2009 (6)

    Iowa is ranked 10th in the AP Poll. It is the Hawkeyes’ highest appearance in the AP Po

    since being ranked ninth on Sept. 12, 2010.

    Iowa has scored 56 points o turnovers, aer scoring 35 points o turnovers all of last

      Iowa is trying to improve to 8-0 for just the second me in school history. The Hawkeye

    were 7-0 in 1985, 1922, and 1921, and opened the season 9-0 in 2009, its best start i

    school history.

      POWER OF 3

      Three dierent Hawkeyes have rushed for over 100 yards in a game this season: Jorda

    Canzeri (4x), and LeShun Daniels and Akrum Wadley once each. The last me the Hawkeyehad three dierent players rush for over 100 yards in a game in the same season was 2005

    Albert Young (8x), and Shonn Greene and Damian Sims once each.

      The Hawkeyes also have three receivers with 100-yard receiving games: Ma VandeBer

    (1), Tevaun Smith (1), and Jerminic Smith (1). It is the rst me since 1995 three dieren

    Hawkeyes recorded 100-yard receiving games: Tim Dwight (2x), Demo Odems (1), Sco

    Slutzker (1).

      MAKING HISTORY 

      For the rst me in school history, Iowa had a dierent running back rush for 200 yard

    in consecuve games (Akrum Wadley at Northwestern and Jordan Canzeri vs. Illinois

    Wadley recorded career highs in carries (26), rushing yards (204), and touchdowns (4

    against the Wildcats on Oct. 17. Canzeri amassed 256 yards rushing on a school-recor

    43 aempts against the Fighng Illini on Oct. 10.

      The feat is the rst me an FBS school had two dierent running backs eclipse 20

    yards rushing in a game since 1996.

    SHINING AT AWARDS SEASON 

      Iowa has been honored with ve Big Ten weekly awards this season. QB C.J. Beathar

    earned the oensive award following Iowa’s win at Iowa State, PK Marshall Koehn was th

    special teams winner following Iowa’s last-second victory over Pisburgh, DB Desmon

    King earned co-defensive honors for his play in Iowa’s win at Wisconsin, RB Jordan Canze

    earned the oensive honor for his play in a win over Illinois, and RB Akrum Wadley earne

    the oensive honor following Iowa’s road win at Northwestern.

    Iowa’s three oensive award winners are the most for the program since 2002, whe

    QB Brad Banks was recognized three mes and TE Dallas Clark was honored once. The lasme three dierent oensive players earned weekly conference honors was 1997 (Tavia

    Banks, Tim Dwight, and Rob Thein).

      KING NAMED SEMIFINALIST FOR JIM THOPRE AWARD

      DB Desmond King is one of 16 seminalists for the 2015 Jim Thorpe Award, given to th

    top defensive back in college football. The junior leads the Big Ten Conference and rank

    second in the naon with six intercepons (0.9 per game). King has mulple intercepon

    in two games, with two thes in wins over Pisburgh and Wisconsin.

      King has recorded 22 solo tackles and nine assists, with one tackle for loss. He lead

    the Hawkeyes with seven pass break-ups. Iowa ranks third in the naon in rushing defens

    (74.1), 10th in scoring defense (15.3), 12th in total defense (294.3), and 20th in pas

    eciency defense (107.75).

      King was named the Jim Thorpe naonal Defensive Player of the Week and Big TeDefensive Player of the Week following Iowa’s win at Wisconsin. His six intercepons ar

    the most for a Hawkeye in a season since Tyler Sash had six in 2009. He is also the rs

    Hawkeye with mulple mul-intercepon games in a season since Sash in 2009.

      MARYLAND SAFETY NET 

      Both of Iowa’s starng safees are Maryland naves. Senior FS Jordan Lomax aende

    DeMatha Catholic High School and is a nave of Upper Marlboro. Lomax recorded a caree

    high 11 tackles in the Iowa-Maryland game in 2014. Sophomore SS Miles Taylor aende

    Gonzaga College High School in Silver Spring, Maryland. He saw acon but recorded n

    stascs in the 2014 Iowa-Maryland game.

      The Terrapins answered with 24 straight points spanning the first, second an

    third quarters. Jacquille Veii ran for a 23-yard

    touchdown, Wes Brown scored on a 1-yard rush,

    Stefon Diggs tallied a 53-yard TD recepon and

    Brad Craddock kicked a 41-yard eld goal.

    Iowa closed the gap to 24-21 late in the third

    quarter aer Weisman’s second 2-yard scoring

    run of the game.

      Maryland extended its lead to 17 in thefourth quarter aer Will Likely returned a Rudock

    intercepon 45 yards and Brown added a 1-yard

    touchdown run.

      Iowa added a WR Jacob Hillyer 4-yard TD

    recepon and a 24-yard Marshall Koehn eld goal

    with 1:19 remaining to pull within seven, but the Hawkeyes’ aempt to recover a secon

      Rudock completed 32-of-56 passes for 317 yards and two touchdowns, while Marylan

    starter C.J. Brown completed 12-of-23 passes for 120 yards.

      EERILY FAMILIAR

      The Hawkeyes are 7-0 for the rst me since 2009, when they started 9-0 for the on

    me in school history. The 2009 and 2015 schedule dates are near mirror images.

    Iowa opened the 2009 season on Sept. 5 and played 12 consecuve Saturdays unl its na

    game on Nov. 21. The Hawkeyes won nine straight to open the season before suering the

    rst loss on Nov. 11 at home to Northwestern.

    Iowa opened the 2015 season on Sept. 5 and played seven consecuve Saturday’s befor

    being idle on Oct. 24. The Hawkeyes are 7-0 through eight weeks of the season.

      WE’LL GO FIRST 

      Iowa received the opening kicko in six of seven games this season, and has outscore

    its opponents 36-13 in the rst quarter.

      In 17 seasons as Iowa’s head coach, Kirk Ferentz and the Hawkeyes received the openin

    kicko in 168-of-207 games (101-67). Iowa has started the game on defense in 39-of-20

    games under Ferentz (21-18).

    THE FOURTH QUARTER

      QB C.J. Beathard and the Hawkeyes’ rush defense have dominated the fourth quarte

    in 2015. Iowa’s rush defense, the No. 2 defense in the conference, has yielded 88 tota

    rushing yards in the fourth quarter this season. That includes a 55-yard eort from NortTexas against Iowa reserves.

    Beathard is 18-of-25 passing for 236 yards and one touchdown. He has also rushed nin

    mes for 28 yards and one touchdown in the fourth quarter this season. He has engineere

    game-winning drives in the fourth quarter two mes this season (Iowa State and Pi). H

    was 4-of-4 for 46 yards and a touchdown against Iowa State, and he rushed for 27 yards o

    three carries to set up K Marshall Koehn’s 57-yard game winning eld goal against Pi.

      In Iowa’s last eight games, including the 2015 TaxSlayer Bowl, Beathard’s fourth quarte

    numbers include 25-of-32 passing for 331 yards and three touchdowns, and 11 carries fo

    66 yards and one touchdown. Beathard did not play in the fourth quarter against Nort

    Texas.

    IT’S IOWA AND EVERYONE ELSE 

      Iowa allowed a rushing touchdown for the rst me this season in Week 6 against IllinoiIt is the only rushing touchdown allowed by the Iowa defense this season. The Hawkeye

    are the only team in the country to allow just one rushing touchdown. The Hawkeyes yie

    an average of 74.1 rushing yards per game, second best in the Big Ten and third naonally

    Iowa limits its opponents to 2.5 yards per carry (519 yards on 211 aempts), third best i

    the country.

    Iowa has held six of seven opponents to under 100 yards rushing (North Texas, 183).

      6 THE OTHER WAY 

      Iowa is ed for the Big Ten lead with nine intercepons. The Hawkeyes returned tw

    intercepons for touchdowns in Week 4 against North Texas. LB Josey Jewell recorded th

    rst intercepon of his career, returning it 34 yards for a touchdown. LB Bo Bower returne

    an intercepon 88 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter. It is the seventh longes

    intercepon return in school history.

    Iowa has at least one intercepon return for a touchdown in each of the last eigh

    seasons, and 13 of the last 15 seasons.

    FLIRTING WITH 100 

      Junior QB C.J. Beathard gained 111 yards but lost 34 yards rushing against Iowa State o

    Sept. 12. His net gain of 77 yards threatened his career-high of 82 set at the 2015 TaxSlaye

    Bowl. The last Iowa quarterback to rush for 100 yards in a single game was Butch Caldwe

    Kirk Ferentz (pronounced FAIR-rintz,

    rhymes with parents) is in his 17th season

    as head football coach at Iowa and the dean

    of Big Ten Conference football coaches. His

    latest contract extension runs through the

    2020 season.

    • Named Big Ten Conference Coach of the

    Year in 2002, 2004 and 2009, joining

    Hayden Fry, Bo Schembechler and Joe

    Paterno as the only three-me recipients.

    Ferentz has 71 Big Ten wins, the ninth most in conference history

      Only eight coaches rank in the top 10 in both categorie

    overall wins as a member of the Big Ten, and conference wins. Th

    conference and College Sports Madness following Iowa’s 40-10 win at No. 20 Northwester

    Wadley in 3-2-1:

    • Set career highs in carries (26), rushing yards (204) against Northwestern in Week 7

    • Tied school record with four rushing touchdowns against Northwestern in Week 7.• His 204 rushing yards against Northwestern es for the 14th best single game total i

    school history.

    WR JERMINIC SMITH (FR., 6-1, 180)

      Career Games Played/Started: 6/2

      True freshman WR Jerminic Smith made his rst career start at Wisconsin in Week 5 bu

    recorded no stascs. He cracked the lineup again against Illinois in Week 6 and becam

    the rst true freshman under Kirk Ferentz to have a 100-yard receiving game. Smith ha

    four recepons for 118 yards, all in the rst half of the win over Illinois.

    Smith in 3-2-1:

    • Three of his four recepons have resulted in rst downs.

    • His 118 receiving yards against Illinois are the most by a Hawkeye since TE Jake Duze

    in 2013 (138 vs. Ohio State). It was the highest receiving yards total by a wide receivesince Derrell Johnson-Koulianos had 119 receiving yards against Northwestern in 2007

    • Started against Wisconsin and Illinois in place of injured WR Tevaun Smith (no relaon

    CB DESMOND KING (JR., 5-11, 190)

      Career Games Played/Starts: 33/32

      Junior CB Desmond King recorded his sixth intercepon of the season at No. 2

    Northwestern. King added a pair of pass breakups against the Wildcats. His six intercepon

    lead the league, and his 13 passes defended e for second.

    King was named Big Ten Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Week and Jim Thorp

    naonal Player of the Week aer recording a pair of intercepons at Wisconsin. He is on

    of 16 seminalists for the Jim Thorpe Award, given annually to the best defensive back i

    football

      Four of his six intercepons this season have resulted in Iowa scores (2 TDs, 2 FG).

      King in 3-2-1:

    • Leads the Big Ten and ranks second naonally with six intercepons. The last Hawkey

    to lead the league in intercepons was Tyler Sash in 2009 (6).

    • First Hawkeye with six intercepons in a single-season since Tyler Sash had six in 2009

    No Hawkeye has seven intercepons in a single season since Kerry Burt in 1987.

    • King is Iowa’ primary kick and punt returner. He averages 15.7 yards per punt return

    No. 2 in the league. He totaled 180 return yards against North Texas (71 punt and 10

    kicko), becoming the fourth Big Ten player in the last 20 seasons with 100-plus kicko

    return yards and 70-plus punt return yards in a single game.

      FS JORDAN LOMAX (SR., 5-10, 205)

      Career Games Played/Starts: 40/20Senior FS Jordan Lomax ranks third on the team with 43 tackles.

    Lomax in 3-2-1:

    • He has started 19 of Iowa’s last 20 games.

    • 10 tackles against Pi were one shy of matching his career high (11), set at Marylan

    in 2014.

    • Saw acon in 11 games as a true freshman before redshirng in 2012 with shoulde

      Senior DE Drew O is out for the season aer suering a tor

    ACL against Illinois in Week 6. He recorded one sack and tw

    tackles-for-loss before leaving the game with an injury.

      O le the Iowa State game in Week 2 with an injury and saw

    limited snaps Week 3 against Pi. O’s streak of 15 consecuv

    starts at defensive end ended Week 3 vs. Pi.

    O recorded three tackles in the win at Wisconsin, includin

    2.5 tackles for loss and a QB sack. He forced a fumble in th

    second quarter that led to an Iowa eld goal.

      O recorded two sacks for a loss of 20 yards and forced on

    fumble in Iowa’s season opener. His two sacks against Illino

    State are the rst me a Hawkeye collected mulple sacks in

    season-opener since Mitch King had a pair in 2007. O led th

    team and ed for third in the Big Ten with 8.0 sacks in 2014. H

    had two tackles, one sack (7 yards), and two quarterback hurrie

      Senior WR Tevaun Smith missed the rst two Big Ten game

    with a knee injury. He returned to the eld at Northwestern bu

    recorded no stascs. Smith recorded his rst career 100-yar

    receiving game in Week 4 against North Texas, the same gam

    he suered the injury. Smith had four catches for a career-hig

    115 yards, including a career-best 81-yard touchdown receponthe longest recepon in the Big Ten this season. His 1,172 caree

    receiving yards rank 31st in program history.

      Smith in 3-2-1:

    • His 19.6 yards per catch (12 for 235) would ranks second

    the Big Ten.

      Junior WR Ma VandeBerg had more catches through th

    Ferentz era (since 1999). Kevin Kasper had 21 recepons throug

    the rst three games of 2000, and Kevonte Marn-Manley, th

    school’s all-me leader in recepons, had 19 catches throug

    three games in 2013 and 2014.

    BIG TEN COACHING WINS

    Stadium record (Lee Pistor, Arizona, 1977). He has kicked two of Iowa’s nine longes

    eld goals in school history -- both coming against Pi (52 at Pi in 2014 and 57 vs. Pi

    in 2015).

    • Has 129 career points. He is the 36th player in program history with 100 career point

    and ranks 21st in career scoring.

    THE KICK   Marshall Koehn kicked a 57-yard eld goal as me expired to defeat Pi, 27-24, o

    Sept. 19. The game-winning eld goal was the second longest in school history and e

    the Kinnick Stadium record (Arizona’s Lee Pistor in 1977).

    Aer Pi ed the game, 24-24, with 0:52 le in the fourth quarter, Iowa DB Desmon

    King picked up a squib kick at the 3-yard line and returned it 27 yards to the Iowa 30. Q

    C.J. Beathard picked up two rushing rst downs to move the ball into Pi territory, an

    aer a pair of sideline routes to WR Tevaun Smith fell incomplete, Beathard scramble

    for eight yards to the Pi 39-yard line. Iowa then used its nal meout to stop the cloc

    with two seconds le.

    On fourth-and-2, Pi called a meout to freeze Koehn. Koehn let a kick sail anyway

    but it landed far short of the goal post. On the next aempt, Dillon Kidd placed a sna

    from Tyler Kluver on the Pi 47-yard line, and Koehn split the uprights, giving Iowa its r

    walk-o eld goal since 1986 (Holiday Bowl).

    OFFENSIVE-TACKLE-BY-COMMITTEE 

      The Hawkeyes have started four dierent oensive tackles this season. Three of them

    -- LT Boone Myers, RT Ike Boeger, LT Cole Croston -- entered the season with one combine

    career start (Boeger started as a second ght end against Wisconsin in 2014). OL Sea

    Welsh had 13 career starts at le guard before sliding out to right tackle at Northwester

    Myers and Boeger opened the season as starters. Myers was injured in Week 4 an

    hasn’t returned to acon. Croston has started at le tackle in Iowa’s three Big Ten game

    They are the rst three starts of Croston’s career. Boeger le the Illinois game in Week

    with an injury and was replaced at right tackle by true freshman James Daniels. Danie

    started at le guard at Northwestern.

    Iowa’s oensive-tackle-by-commiee is being asked to replace a pair of NFL linema

    -- 2014 Outland Trophy winner LT Brandon Scher (Washington Redskins) and RT AndrewDonnal (St. Louis Rams).

    Myers joined the program as a walk-on and was put on scholarship prior to the 201

    season. He saw acon in four games last season. Boeger joined the team as a ght end bu

    was moved to oensive line in 2013. He saw acon in seven games as a redshirt freshma

    in 2014. Croston joined the team as a walk-on in 2012, and had played primarily on speci

    teams prior to this season. Daniels was a highly recruited senior at Harding High Schoo

    in Warren, Ohio. He joined the program for the 2015 spring pracce season. Welsh was

    high school All-American in Springboro, Ohio, and was named rst team freshman All-B

    Ten by BTN in 2014.

      PAULSENS ARE A FAMILIAR FACE 

      Freshmen Landan and Levi Paulsen are the sixth set of twins to play football at th

    University of Iowa. The oensive linemen from Woodbury High School in Northwest Iow

     join the company of Leo and Lloyd Jensvold (1929-30), Harold and Herbert Shoener (1946

    47), Kent and Kevin Ellis (1977-80), Aaron and Evan Kooiker (1992), and Shane and Shau

    Prater (2008).

      The Paulsens are one of three sets of brothers on Iowa’s 2015 roster, joining DB Kev

    Ward and OL Ryan Ward, and OL James Daniels and RB LeShun Daniels.

    2015 FOOTBALL HONORS   IOWA PROGRAM NOTES

    • The Hawkeyes have earned bowl eligibility in 14 of the last 15 sea

    sons.

    • Iowa earned Big Ten Conference championships in 2002 and 200

    and placed second in 2009. Iowa (8-0, 2002) is one of four Big Te

    teams to post a perfect mark in conference play since 1998 (BC

    era).• Iowa has ranked in the top 10 in the nal Associated Press and CNN

    USA Today coaches polls four mes since 2002, including a rankin

    of seventh in both polls at the conclusion of the 2009 season. Iow

    ranked eighth in 2002, 2003 and 2004 and the Hawkeyes were als

    20th in 2008.

    • Since 1936 when the rst AP poll was released, Iowa has appeare

    the poll 301 mes, the h highest total in the Big Ten (Ohio State

    Michigan, Wisconsin, and MSU). Iowa has been the top-ranked team

    in the country 11 mes.

    • Iowa established a school record with 11 wins in 2002 (11-2) an

    matched that record in 2009. In 2009, Iowa started 9-0 and wo

    10 regular season games for just the fourth me in school history

    • Iowa won 10 or more games in three consecuve years (2002-04for the rst me in school history.

    • Kirk Ferentz has been named Big Ten Coach of the Year three me

    (2002, 2004 & 2009) and he was named Naonal Coach of the Yea

    in 2002. Ferentz joins Michigan’s Bo Schembechler (four), Iowa

    Hayden Fry (three) and Penn State’s Joe Paterno (three) as the on

    coaches to be honored in more than two seasons.

    • Iowa’s football record in the 2000 decade was 80-45 (.640), a recorthat ranks as the best decade in Iowa football history, based on tota

    wins. Iowa posted a record of 77-40-4 (.652) during the 1980’s an

    the Hawkeyes were 62-53-2 (.538) in the 1990’s.

    • Part of the Hawkeyes’ long term success is due to the stability in th

    program. Iowa has had just two head coaches since 1979. Hayden Fr

    took over prior to the 1979 season and coached through the 199

    season, posng a record of 143-89-6. Current coach Kirk Ferent

    replaced Fry, leading the program for the 17th season. Ferentz als

    served as Iowa’s oensive line coach from 1981-89 under Fry.

      HAWKEYE HISTORY

    Iowa has played 1,200 games since beginning football in 1889. Iowa

    overall record is 620-541-39 (.533). That includes a 390-213-16 (.641

    record in home games, a 230-328-23 (.413) record in games away from

    Iowa City, a 309-366-25 (.457) mark in Big Ten games and a 273-177-1

    (.600) record in Kinnick Stadium.

      Iowa’s roster of 114 players includes 49 players from Iowa. Th

    • Iowa’s 2015 game dates are a near perfect reecon of its 2009 game dates. Iow

    opened 2009 on Sept. 5 and played 12 consecuve Saturdays unl its nal game o

    Nov. 21. The Hawkeyes won nine straight to open the season, suering their rst los

    on Nov. 11 at home to Northwestern. Iowa opened the 2015 season on Sept. 5 an

    90-minute radio call-in show is hosted by Gary Dolphin, the play-by-play voice of the Iow

    Hawkeyes. The show airs each Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m. from Carlos O’Kelly’s i

      IOWA LEADERSHIP GROUP 

      The University of Iowa football program has 16 players on its 2015 Leadership Group

    including 13 seniors, two juniors, and one sophomore. The purpose of the group is to assis

    in formulang policies, and being involved in team decision-making maers regarding th

    upcoming season. Players are selected by a team vote.

       ALL IN THE FAMILY 

      Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz has two of his three sons involved in the

    Iowa program again in 2015. Brian, a former Hawkeye leerman

    and captain (2003-05), is in his fourth season as Iowa’s oensive line

    coach. Steven is an oensive lineman who is in his fourth season

    as a redshirt junior. James Ferentz was a three-year starter on the

    Hawkeye oensive line and a team captain before graduang in

    May 2013. He is currently playing for the NFL’s Denver Broncos.Ferentz is the only FBS coach ever to coach three sons at the same

    school.

      MORE THAN ONE 

      Eleven high schools have contributed more than one player to

    the current Iowa football roster. Dowling Catholic HS in West Des

    Moines, Iowa; and Providence Catholic HS in Homer Glen, Illinois

    each graduated three current Hawkeyes. The schools with two

    current Hawkeyes include DeMatha Catholic HS (Washington, D.C.),

    Harding HS (Warren, Ohio), Regina HS (Iowa City, Iowa), Solon HS

    (Solon, Iowa), Waukee HS (Waukee, Iowa), West Branch HS (West

    Branch, Iowa), West Lyon HS (Inwood, Iowa), Williamsburg HS

    (Williamsburg, Iowa), and Woodbury Central HS (Moville, Iowa).

    THE HAWKEYES, SIZE WISE 

      Redshirt freshman WR Brandon Bishop and freshman WR

    Emmanuel Ogwo are the lightest Hawkeye players at 170 pounds.

    Junior DL Jaleel Johnson is the heaviest at 310 pounds. A total of

    seven Hawkeye players are listed at 300 pounds or more.

    The tallest player at 6-8 is redshirt freshman DE Ma Nelson.

    The shortest player, at 5-8, is sophomore WR Jonathan Parker.

      The average Hawkeye player is 6-2 and weighs 232 pounds.

    That is the one inch taller and two pounds heavier than the average

    Iowa player in 2013.

      Iowa has nine players on its 2015 roster whose father played

    BEATHARD EARNS NATIONAL MANNING AWARD

      Junior quarterback C.J. Beathard was selected as the Mannin

    Award Quarterback of the Week following his play in Iowa’s 31-1

    win at Iowa State. He earned the honor over seven other Mannin

    Award Stars of the Week in the Allstate Sugar Bowl’s Faceboo

    contest.

    In his third career start, the Franklin, Tennessee, nativ

    completed 15-of-25 passes for 215 yards and three touchdownas the Hawkeyes scored 21 unanswered points in the second ha

    to earn the road victory. His 25-yard touchdown pass to junior W

    Riley McCarron in the fourth quarter gave the Hawkeyes the lea

    with 2:14 le in the game. Beathard also carried the ball a caree

    high 10 mes for 77 yards, showcasing his athlecism on runs o

    44 and 57 yards in the rst half. He was also named the Big Te

    Conference Co-Oensive Player of the Week.

      Beathard earned the award over Washington State’s Luke Fal

    who completed 47-of-66 passes for 478 yards and four touchdown

    in a 37-34 win at Rutgers. Third in the vong was Paxton Lynch from

    Memphis, who led the Tigers to a 55-23 win at Kansas to snap

    19-game losing streak against power-ve teams.

      Each week during the regular season, eight quarterbacks ar

    recognized as Manning Quarterbacks of the Week. Sixty-two playe

    from 58 dierent schools were honored during the 2014 season

    BEATHARD EARNS WEEKLY B1G HONOR

      Junior quarterback C.J. Beathard was named co-Oensive Playe

    of the Week by the Big Ten aer leading Iowa to a 31-17 win at Iow

    State on Sept. 15. He completed 15-of-25 aempts for 215 yard

    and three touchdowns with no intercepons. He also rushed 1

    mes for 77 yards, including runs of 44 and 57 yards. His scorin

    strikes covered three, 14, and 25 yards, with the 25-yard scor

    giving Iowa the lead with 2:14 remaining in the fourth quarter.

      The Big Ten weekly honor was the rst for Beathard. He is thrst Hawkeye to win the oensive honor since former WR Marvi

    McNu, Jr., following a win over Indiana in 2011.
