Fellow Toastmasters, Visiting Toastmaster Dignitaries and Most Welcomed Guests It is now time for the [Area 1 ] and [Area 2 ] Evaluation Speech contests.

Before we begin the contest let’s review a few general reminders

The purpose of the Evaluation Contest is for the evaluators to provide honest, positive, and constructive feedback to the model speaker. They compliment the speaker on his or her strengths and provide positive advice for improvement.

We will begin with the [Area 1 ] contest. After all the ballots have been collected and

given to the Chief Judge, we will proceed with the [ Area 2 ] contest. The speaking order for [Area 1 ] is: (Repeat contestant names two times each)

contestant will be introduced by their first and last name only. There will be a model speaker who will be announced by the name and the title of

his/her speech. [ Area 1 ] and [ Area 2 ] will evaluate the same model speaker. After the model speech is given, the Sergeant-at-Arms will collect the written evaluations from

the evaluators for [Area 1 ] and [Area 2 ]. Notes will be given back to each contestant as they are called into the room to present their evaluation.

There will be one minute of silence after each evaluator during which the judges will

mark their ballots. Please honor this one-minute of silence. Is the Timer ready? (Wait for response) Is the Chief Judge ready? (Wait for response)

We are ready then. Let the Evaluation Contest begin!

NOTE TO CONTEST TOASTMASTER: Introduce the Model Speaker by Full Name and the title of their speech. Repeat Full Name and title of speech. Model Speaker Name: ___________________________________

After the speech is finished, thank model speaker and ask them to remain up front with you. Sergeant-at-Arms, please escort the evaluators to another room.

After all the evaluators from both Areas and the Sergeant-at-Arms have left the room (Give a

minute for them to leave the room)

Timer, please let me know when it has been 5 minutes. Interview the Model Speaker. Interview if possible until timer has informed you that it’s been 5 minutes. Sample questions: What club do you belong to? How long have you been in Toastmasters? If anything interested you in the model speech, you can ask about it. Once signaled by timer, thank the model speaker again and present him or her with a certificate of appreciation. Sergeant-at-Arms, please escort the first evaluator for [Area 1 ] (Lead the applause)
