Beloved, our Pastor Search Committee needs and depends upon our daily prayer as they look for a

“Big Godder!”

Amen and Amen!

May 2016

From Your Interim Pastor

The following article is from the church paper of First Baptist, Milton. Dr. David Spencer is retiring in a few weeks and the church has already selected a Pastor Search Committee. Dr. Spencer placed this article in his column to encourage and challenge the committee. The article is very appropriate for our church at this time.

Princeton Theological Seminary has produced many great preachers since Colonial Days – a lot more in its earlier days! Professor Robert Wilson taught many young preachers and was a favorite of many of them. When Dr. Wilson heard that one of his former students was going to preach in chapel one day, the old professor made his way down to a pew near the front, sat down, and listened to the sermon. After the service was over, Dr. Wilson went up to shake hands with his student and said, “If you come back again, I will not come to hear you preach. I only come once. I’m glad that you are a ‘Big Godder.’ When my boys come back to preach, I come to see if they are ‘Big Godders” or ‘little Godders’ and then I know how their ministry will be.”

His former student asked him to explain what he meant. The old professor replied, “Well, some have a little God, and they are always in trouble with Him. He can’t do any miracles. He can’t take care of the inspiration and transmission of the Scriptures to us. He doesn’t intervene on behalf of His people. They have a little God and I call them ‘Little Godders.’ Then there are those who have a great God. He speaks and it is done. He commands and it stands fast. He knows how to show Himself strong on behalf of those who fear Him. You have a great God and He will bless your ministry.” He paused a moment, smiled and said, “God bless you,” and turned and walked away.

Elijah had a big God, Moses had a big God, Isaiah had a big God, Peter had a big God, Paul had a big God, and so did John the Baptist. As your Pastor Search Committee seeks the next pastor for this church, pray that they find a man who is a “Big Godder.”

Well said, Dr. Spencer!

Beloved, our Pastor Search Committee needs and depends upon our daily prayer as they look for a “Big Godder!” Amen and Amen!

It is a joy for me to worship with you.

PRAYER ROOM MINISTRY

Adrian Rogers, in his book, “What Every Christian Ought to Know,”

makes the following statements regarding the purpose of prayer:

Prayer is the way of getting God’s will done on earth - and - God’s will is not

something that you have to do…. it’s something you get to do.”

How about giving the Prayer Room a try!

Call Carleita at 892-3074 to sign up for a weekly prayer time.

First Christian Academy is currently enrolling students in

preschool (age 3) through Grade 6 for the 2016-2017

school year! Check the school website for updated

information: www.fcadefuniak.com.

I am so thankful for the students and families I have had the

privilege to serve at the Academy. I pray you continue to

seek and serve the Lord with all your heart!

During your spring cleaning, please

remember the PSC if you come across

the schedule that we see weekly and they

are always excited to shop in our “baby

you who have helped keep it stocked full

of beautiful girls and boys clothes and

shoes.

We would like to thank you for the prayers for my
