MISSION STATEMENTThe objective and purpose of the North Orange County Gem and Mineral Society is to disseminate knowledge ofmineralogy and the earth sciences and to encourage study in these subjects through means of: the presentation ofpublic exhibitions, lectures, slide programs; field trips for explorations, study and collection of specimens; thepreparation, publication and distribution of articles and studies pertaining to mineralogy and the earth sciences; thepromotion of scientific research in these fields; the encouragement of interest among young people and the fosteringof classes in mineralogy and lapidary arts; and all other means which are appropriate to the accomplishment of theprimary objectives set forth.

Annual Membership Dues: Individual, $20; Family, $20 and $10 for additional member over 18; Juniors 3-18, $8.(Inititation Fee:Individual, $10; Family $10) - Badges for junior members $10 1 time fee.Visitors are always welcome at our regular meetings and field trips.The North Orange County Gem & Mineral Soc. does not yet have a Junior Division.Material contained in this newsletter may be used if credit is given.

The news letter is late this month because I havebeen waiting for the Presidents report, and meetingminutes which I have not received.

The good news is that we are having a wonderfulspeaker this week - Annais. Linda Chu did a great job on the NOC Paver infront of the La Habra Council Chamber - see pages6 and 7. And Nacy O’Conner made a new MembersipApplication - see page 10.

September is the month we select a NominatingCommitte to select officers for the next two years.

Our speaker for September 12 meeting willbe Annais.(See page 5 about her.)

A nominating committee consists of five (5) mem-bers shall be selected at the September meeting inthe following manner: the President shall appointone (1) the Board of Directors will elect one (1),and the Society shall elect three (3). See page 12 for ARTICLE V from the NOC ByLaws.
