EUROVISION 1984

Every year there are those predicting that the Eurovision Song Contest is no longer validand ought not to be organised anymore, but each year the biggest music gala of Europetakes place. It is one of the rare European happenings meeting widespread interest fromthe inhabitants of almost all countries, (who said music doesn't bring people together?).Many millions watch it on television including citizens of a good number of countries whichnormally are not so interested in "Western Culture". Each year a few thousand delegates,artists, radio and television producers and press people are gathering somewhere inEurope in honour of European artists and songwriters and one hears the old question: "isthis years quality lower or higher than last years?"We welcome all these people, pouring in to the (much too) small Dutchy of Luxembourg forthe 1984 Eurovision Song Contest and good luck to RTL for the organisation of the event.Of course there can only be one winner but most years there are 2 or 3 international hitrecords coming out of this festival, and most entries have already scored in their ownmarket so we may say that there are no real losers in Luxembourg. Apart from its normaldistribution to 1700 top radio and television personalities around Europe as well as another3500 Industry people all over the world, EUROTIPSHEET has a special Eurovisiondistribution in Luxembourg.

For those that haven't yet seen an earlierEUROTIPSHEET, the European Top 100singles and albums are based on salescharts. We use 26 charts from 16countries for the singles chart {For somecountries, where not one chart isdominant we use various charts in acombination). Please ask for details if youso desire. We use 20 charts for the Top100 Albums coming from 15 countries.Positions get points which in turn aremultiplied by a factor determined throughthe latest known sales percentage of totalsingles (or album) sales which thatcountry holds in relation to the rest ofEurope.
