The Call of the Labyrinth - by Carolyn MCClendon
The Labyrinth and Sacred Gardens provide a lovely setting for reflection and meditation for our Millbrook family and opportunities for outreach in the community beyond. Join us for the following scheduled events on the labyrinth:
March 5 – April 18 - The Season of LentLent is the Christian season of preparation before Easter. The Lenten season is a time when many Christians observe a period of fasting, repentance, moderation, self-denial and spiritual discipline. Meditation Guides will be available throughout the Lenten Season, as you pray, reflect and prepare for the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus.
March 5 - Ash Wednesday on the LabyrinthJoin our ministry staff as they lead us in a time of reading, prayer, music, distribution of ashes and rite of forgiveness.. This special service to begin the Season of Lent will follow dinner at 6:30 p.m.
March 31 – 5:00 p.m. “Jazz on the Labyrinth” Featuring Bobby Moody and “Moments Notice”
Finding God in Nature…Garden Work Day1st Saturday of each month beginning at 8:30 a.m. (March 2, 2019) join us for a morning of garden work. You are welcome to come when you are able and stay as long as you are available. We look forward to seeing you for a time of pruning, planting, cleaning, etc to make our garden pretty and peaceful.
April 21: Easter Sunrise Service and Butterfly Release - 6:30 AM
Available Opportunities:As a meaningful tool of outreach, the labyrinth committee wants to partner with you to provide meaningful events, programs and experiences on the labyrinth. If you and/or your family, your Sunday School Class, a committee, etc would be interested in partnering with the Labyrinth Committee to host and/or participate in these or other events, in any way, for a “one time” or multiple time experience, please let us know.
Backpack Buddies-New Coordinator Needed! by Melanie Mattox
Thanks to the youth for packing backpacks for February!Millbrook has had a long relationship with the Interfaith Food Shuttle and providing backpacks to families at Millbrook Elementary. It is a vital ministry because we provide a basic need of life for these families-FOOD. This summer Doug and I are moving from Raleigh. I am hopeful that someone will feel
led to takeover the coordination of our Backpack ministry. It involves shopping to supplement the food we collect, packing bags and delivering them to Millbrook Elementary once a month. The whole process can be a team effort, but one person needs to coordinate it. Many groups have helped pack bags- the youth, children at MBC, Sunday School classes, children from the preschool and Daisy Scouts. Please prayerfully consider if you could continue this important work. I would like to be able to share what we do with you before the spring semester ends in May.Many thanks for your continuing support!

March Cook’s Kornor - by angie hooMani
We had a great turnout for our grand opening of our remodeled kitchen. It was a pleasure to cook in the new space. There is so much more room for us to work. It is definitely no longer a “2-butt kitchen”. Thank you to all the hard work from Bruce, Bill and Tom. Great job guys!Coming in March, we have several church family meals. The Festive Committee will cook breakfast for us on Shrove Tuesday on March 5th. Ellen’s group will provide a soup dinner on Ash Wednesday, March 6th. You’ll want to taste all these delicious soups i.e. Minestrone, Chile, White Bean Chicken Chili and Taco Soup. Cher’s group will provide a Potluck Dinner on Sunday March 17th followed by the famous Youth Bake Sale Auction which is always lots of fun and provides welcome funds for the youth activities. To end the month, my group will cook Apricot Dijon Chicken on Wednesday, March 27th.
It was really great to be back together in fellowship. I want to say “thank-you” to all the people who helped with cooking, serving and clean-up for our first meal. All of our Church Family Dinners are a cooperative effort, and it takes all of us to make them a success. We look forward to seeing each of you this month as we join together for Food, Fellowship, and Fun!

Women’s Ministry - by Cher Moss
The committee met on January 6 and February 24. We continue to collect clothing for children for Note in the Pocket. In January we requested jeans and in February, Fleece style and other sweatshirts primarily for children, which is always the greatest need. Our thanks to those who continue to help us support this mission for the children of Wake County. For March 2019 we are asking for shirts and tops, sizes children XS to Adult Large. Again, we love to get new items for the kids, but if used items are donated please make sure they are “gently” used, clean and child appropriate.Women’s Ministry would love to have any of our ladies in the church, new or established members, any age to join us for a meeting to see if this is an area of service that would suit you. We are friendly and flexible and love new ideas! Contact Cher Moss for info ([email protected])
