Special Communion Bread is available for people who have gluten intolerance - see Rev’d Jane.

Rector: Rev’d Jane Mitchell 3273 7169 0438 184 148 Assistant Priest: Rev’d Morris Rangiwai 0449 557 351 Parish Secretary: Kerry Tovey Office Phone 3273 7169 Email: [email protected] Fax: 3273 7189

The purpose of CMS is to work with churches to set apart long-term workers who cross cultures to share the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Throughout the world today we are seeing both the extraordinary

growth of the church, especially in Asia, Africa and Latin America,

as well as countless millions that have not heard the good news of

Jesus Christ. Even places that once had the gospel are in need of

re-evangelising. There are therefore great needs for both disciple-

ship and Bible training in the growing churches, and outside help

for ‘gospel-poor peoples’ to hear of the lasting hope of Jesus

Christ. In response to these truths, our vision is to: 1. Reach gospel-poor peoples for Christ, through evangelism

and church planting.

2. Equip Christian leaders for church and society.

3. Engage churches in cross-cultural mission.

Our prayer is for a world that knows Jesus.

Pray for the World: Travel is relatively easy across this planet of ours: however, terrorism and war and conflict within many countries make travel very hazardous. We pray for refugees trying to make it to a new country in overcrowded small crafts; for those who feel the journey by air is too precarious and for all whose work and family life require constant travel. Pray for our Nation: We pray for the ongoing industrial action by bus drivers in Brisbane and for all who have been affected by the disruptions. We ask for your guidance, O God, in all the discussions and may there be quick and amicable solutions. Pray for the Church: Puerto Rico - (XI, The Episcopal Church): Wilfrido Ramos Orench The Diocese of Bendigo: Bp Andrew Curnow; Clergy and People Our Diocese: The Parish of Mundubbera-Eidsvold-Monto: Jeff Balnaves Anglicare SQ Residential & Foster & Kinship Care Fraser Coast Anglican College: Principal - Leisa Harper; Chaplain - Greg Loumeau;

Chair of College Council - Jonathan Hensman; members of College Council Our Parish: Nearly everyone who comes to Church here, who is involved in our parish activities or who make use of our parish hall need to drive to these activities. We pray that all will reach their destinations safely and be free from road rage. We pray for God’s blessing on Robert Johannes Luke Rigby and his parents and godparents on the occasion of his baptism today. Mission Agency: CMS Qld with Northern NSW [Church Missionary Society]

PRAYER AND READINGS flesh. They are Israelites, and to them belong the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the worship, and the promises; to them belong the patriarchs, and from them, according to the flesh, comes the Messiah, who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen. It is not as though the word of God had failed. For not all Israelites truly belong to Israel, and not all of Abraham’s children are his true descendants; but ‘It is through Isaac that descendants shall be named after you.’ This means that it is not the children of the flesh who are the children of God, but the children of the promise are counted as descendants. Hear the word of the Lord Thanks be to God THE GOSPEL OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST ACCORDING TO MATTHEW, CHAPTER 14, VERSES 13-21:

Glory to you Lord Jesus Christ Now when Jesus heard this, he withdrew from there in a boat to a deserted place by himself. But when the crowds heard it, they followed him on foot from the towns. When he went ashore, he saw a great crowd; and he had compassion for them and cured their sick. When it was evening, the disciples came to him and said, ‘This is a deserted place, and the hour is now late; send the crowds away so that they may go into the villages and buy food for themselves.’ Jesus said to them, ‘They need not go away; you give them something to eat.’ They replied, ‘We have nothing here but five loaves and two fish.’ And he said, ‘Bring them here to me.’ Then he ordered the crowds to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish, he looked up to heaven, and blessed and broke the loaves, and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds. And all ate

Psalm 145.18-19 OUR PARISH PRAYER: Heavenly Father, help us to grow in love, faith and obedience as we discover meaning and direction for

today and hope for tomorrow through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. PRAYER OF THE WEEK: Almighty God, whose beloved Son for our sake willingly endured the agony and shame of the cross: give us courage and patience to take up our cross daily and follow him; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen. A READING FROM THE LETTER OF PAUL TO THE ROMANS, CHAPTER 9, VERSES 1-8: I am speaking the truth in Christ—I am not lying; my conscience confirms it by the Holy Spirit— I have great sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart. For I could wish that I myself were accursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my own people, my kindred according to the
