‘VENKY’ Sri Venkateswara College, popularly called ‘Venky’ is a premier college of University of Delhi. Founded under the auspices of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Trust in 1961, the college has grown into one of the leading and most sought after educational institutes of the country. The College has been consistently ranked amongst the best by leading newspapers and magazines. The College is renowned for being one of the most highly praised colleges in the entire country, particularly when it comes to cultural events and performances. Venky was ranked the second best college of India and best college of North India in 2011 at the Channel V Nokia India Fest in Goa.

NEXUS NEXUS, the annual inter-college cultural festival of Sri Venkateswara College is one of the most awaited and fun-filled fests of North India, jointly organized by Fine Arts Association and the Students’ Union. The Fine Arts Association of Venky has bagged the best fest organizing team at HT Youth Nexus for the past two years now. Apart from high rankings, awards and accolades given to Nexus, the liveliness on campus during the festival has always attracted students from all across the country. Continuing with its legacy of youthful fun and intellectual vigour, we at Venky make sure that Nexus becomes the talk of the town as soon as it commences. Living up to its old-age reputation of youthful fun blended with intellect, Venkyites make sure that Nexus becomes the talk of the town as soon as it commences. This brochure gives you an insight in to what NEXUS 2012 will look like and how you can be associated with it and be part of one of the biggest and most successful college events of the country.

STAR NIGHT

The three-day long fest ends with a Star Night, a culmination of the diverse range of activities that the college hosts. Big names like Indian Ocean, Euphoria, Shankar Mahadevan, Sukhwinder Singh, Sonu Nigam, Advaita, Parikrama, KK etc. have been hosted in the past.

CHOREOGRAPHY

To speak wordlessly, conveying a thousand meanings simply through the moves of one's body, is a rare art indeed. The Choreography competition at Nexus attempts to bring together choreography teams from colleges across the country to create an occasion to showcase their talent. For an event that always happen at a grand scale, we at Nexus ensure the presence of eminent dance personalities to further inspire the teams.

RAZZMATAZZ

One of the most consistent events of Nexus down the years, Razzmatazz is the perfect way to bring to an end a day brimming with fun filled activities . This event sees dance troupes from across the university compete for the mantle of Best Western Dance Team. The high powered dance moves have the audience charged and on their feet in no time, with the infectious energy of the performers raising the spirits of all around. Words are not enough to do justice to the emotions and passion behind this event. Honestly speaking, you have to see it to believe it!

MR and MS NEXUS

Mr and Ms Nexus is a perfect manifestation of the carnival spirit that the fest incorporates. Following the global standards of a fashion cum cultural competition, this event attempts to choose two perfect representatives that truely represent the spirit of the festival. Winners are selected through intensive rounds that test the participants on their intelligence, confidence and presence of mind, through a series of ramp walks, talent rounds, rapid fire sessions etc. An instant crowd-puller, this is one event that has a high glam quotient.

BATTLE OF BANDS

Very few colleges at Delhi University can boast of being able to host an event as grand as the Battle of Bands, where eminent bands from all over the country fight it out for the title of Best Band, under a star lit sky as a pulsating audience watches with uninhibited excitement! This year, Guillotine, the band that opened for Metallica in Bangalore, October, 2011 has already sent in its enthusiastic commitment to perform at Nexus.

ROCK NIGHT

And after being mesmerized by the bands at Battle of Bands, you thought it ended there? You couldn't have been more wrong. The celebrity judges invited for the Battle of Bands will put up an exclusive performance for the cheering crowds and set the tone for the evening.

STREET DANCE

A presentation of raw talent, raw passion and a devil-may-care attitude, Street Dancing at Nexus is an expression of the freedom of the human soul to emote evocatively solely through the medium of dance. The performance takes place at a casual venue where the surrounding crowd creates a ring within which these brilliant performances take place.

SPONSORSHIP AVENUES As previously stated, NEXUS seeks to provide maximum benefits to its sponsors by allowing considerable degree of customization, flexibility and creativity in all marketing and promotional activities. For this we follow a three phase marketing strategy – Pre Nexus: Going by the trend, we start by targeting the audience at popular social networking sites Facebook, Twitter etc. Last year the Facebook Event for NEXUS had over 7000+ attending users. The NEXUS 2012 page has already been launched in mid-November and promotions have begun. The Name and Logo of sponsors would be constantly marketed on the page, with regular sponsor centric online events, polls, opinions etc. Two months before the festival, the official website of the festival would be launched. Apart form comprehensive details about the festival, it will have advertisements and links to the sponsors’ website. Apart from online publicity, posters, brochures and other promotional materials are also sent to 200+ colleges all over India, including all colleges of DU, all IITs, BITS, IIMs etc. During Nexus: All hoardings. flexes, standees, backdrops at major events/professional shows, banners would carry the name and logo of the sponsors and would be placed at strategic locations. Regular live announcements, sponsor competitions will go on throughout the festival via the Public Address System. Apart from that special zones would be set up at strategic locations to target the audience. Also regular AV advertisements of the sponsors would be played on a 12’ x 12’ projector on the main stage. The media and print partners of the festival will give prominent coverage to the sponsors during the festival while all the apparel worn by the organizers will carry the name and logo of all the sponsors. Post Nexus: The College magazine, all publications related to the festival, conferences and press releases would recognize the sponsors for being associated with NEXUS. The magazine is distributed to all students of the college and to all the registered alumni. Further, the magazine is distributed to all participating colleges, all colleges within DU, IITs etc. Also, the database collected during the course of the festival, along with the database of the students would be shared with the sponsors for awareness.
