1. INTRODUCTION 1.1. Netball Queensland recognises the HART Sapphire Series (HSS) to be the premier netball

competition in Queensland, providing the best opportunities and development

environment for elite netballers and officials throughout the State.

1.2. The purpose of this document is to provide commercial, branding and communication

guidelines for the HART Sapphire Series, whilst clearly identifying the roles and

responsibilities of all parties involved.

1.3. This document should be read in conjunction with accompanying League documentation,

including the:

1.3.3. 2019 Operations Manual

1.3.4. 2019 Brand Guidelines

1.4. From time to time, there may be proposed commercial activities raised by either the

League or a Club that are not defined within the Commercial Manual. In these instances,

the League must reasonably consult with the Club/s, and the Club/s must seek approval

from the League for the proposed activity. The consultation process for any significant

changes to the league or the documents pertaining to it, are outlined in Clause 27 of the

Club Participation Agreement.

2. APPROVAL PROCESS 2.1. Items listed in this document which require approval from the League must be submitted

in writing utilising the relevant form, as per the contact information listed in Appendix 1

of this document. The League will not unreasonably withhold approval and will

endeavour to provide a response within five (5) business days.

3. DEFINITIONS 3.1. Club means the netball entity known who will enter a team or teams in the Sapphire and

or Ruby Series Competitions (League) in accordance with this Agreement.

3.2. Clubs collectively means the netball entities whose owners have been granted the right

to participate in the League by NQ.

3.3. Club Commercial Rights means the commercial rights and assets allocated by the League

to the Club that may be exploited by the Club as set out in this manual related in clauses

3.4. Club Licensing Rights means the licensing rights pertaining to intellectual property, which

enable to League and the Clubs to secure Product Licensees to produce Licensed Products

for sale and or distribution to promote the League or the Club respectively

3.5. Club Participation Agreement means the governing agreement entered into by all Clubs

participating in the League.

3.6. Club Partner(s) means a sponsor of the Club that has been appointed by the Club.

3.7. Club Property means any or all of the Club name, logo, colours, branding, mascot, kit

design (including playing strip), song, trademarks, business name, domain name and any

other Intellectual Property Rights associated with the Club or its participation in the

League created or generated by or on behalf of the Club which have been approved in

writing by NQ from time to time.

3.8. Collective Player Agreement refers to the document agreed to by all Suncorp Super

Netball (SSN) Clubs, the Australian Netball Players Association (ANPA) and Netball

Australia to protect the rights and interests of netballers in the SS competition

3.9. Confidential Information of a party means the following information in any form,

including:

3.9.1. all information relating to the business, operations or affairs of that party or any

related body corporate of that Party from time to time (including financial or

accounting information, customer and member names, lists and databases, terms

and conditions of supply, sales records, marketing analysis, research and reports,

trade secrets, confidential know-how, market research and strategies, sponsor

information, operating procedures and technical information) of which the other

party becomes aware, both before and after the day this Agreement is executed;

and

3.9.2. the contents of this Agreement.

3.9.3. Confidential Information of NQ includes the Match schedules and any League

information that has not been made public.

3.10. Finals Series means the semi-finals, preliminary final and grand final of the League or any

other configuration as determined by NQ from time to time.

3.11. Host Club refers to the Club who has the right to host League matches in a venue of their

own choice, away from QSNC. The Host Club acquires obligations and benefits as

described in this manual and in the Operations Manual

3.12. Host Venue(s) means the venue(s) currently known as QSNC, or such other venue or

venues approved by NQ in writing under clauses 7.2 and 7.3

3.13. Integrated League Logo means a vertical or horizontal integration containing both the

League Logo and Principle Partner logo. This designation is limited to the Principle

Partner of the League.

3.14. Intellectual Property Rights means all intellectual property rights, whether subsisting

now or in the future, including:

3.14.1. patents, copyright, rights in circuit layouts, registered designs, trademarks and

the right to have confidential information kept confidential; and

3.14.2. any application or right to apply for registration of any of those rights.

3.15. League means Netball Queensland’s premier netball league known as the HART Sapphire

Series and also includes the Ruby Series North and South as appropriate. The League will

also be referenced when referring to the governing body of the competition.

3.16. League Commercial Rights means the commercial rights granted to, or reserved by, NQ

under this Agreement, the Commercial Manual and all other Policies, including those set

out in clauses 8 to 17, inclusive of this manual.

3.17. League Sponsor(s)/Partner(s) mean the official live stream partner, sponsors and

suppliers of the League that are granted League Sponsorship Rights or Broadcast Rights

by NQ.

3.18. Locked Up Logo means an image which contains a Club Partner and the Club Logo in a

fixed position in which the two logos share equal presence. The Locked-Up Logo differs

from an integrated logo in that the two logos are not connected in anyway and are

normally stacked vertically or side by side.

3.19. Match Kit means the approved match dress, match bibs, warm up t-shirt, training singlet,

tracksuit, media polo and any other items pertaining to team or club uniform

3.20. Netball Queensland is the governing body for the sport of netball in Queensland and the

owner of the HART Sapphire Series.

3.21. Nominated Venue is the venue nominated by the Club as their home venue at which they

may choose to play home games. The Nominated Venue will need to meet the standards

outlined by the League

3.22. Original Logo refers to the Club logo sans any other branding including principle partner

or naming rights partners and is the Logo that will be registered, protected and owned by

the League. The Original Logo forms the core element of the Integrated Logo

3.23. Operations Manual means the operational manual relating to the staging of the League

during the Term, as developed, amended and updated from time to time in accordance

with clause 27 of the Club Participation Agreement, including the minimum standards in

relation to Match day operations, branding, broadcast and media requirements, security

requirements and broadcast and sports presentation that the NQ and the Club must

ensure that it, its Personnel and the Host Venue complies with in relation to the staging

of Matches.

3.24. Other Events mean other events or functions organised or controlled by NQ relating,

directly or indirectly, to the League, including any official pre-season tournament

between Clubs which is organised or sanctioned by NQ, training matches involving Clubs,

any all-star type matches involving Players and any ceremonies, awards nights, official

dinners or functions organised by NQ. Clubs will be advised with at least six (6) months’

notice if the League is to organise any Other events that will incur reasonable financial

cost.

3.25. Other Matches means any match played by the Club other than a Match or Other Event

(which may include training or exhibition matches).

3.26. Partner is an organisation who has entered a commercial sponsorship, of either cash or

contra value, with either a Club or the League.

3.27. Player means any person who has a current signed Standard Player Contract or either

type of Replacement Player Contract with the Club to play for its Team/s.

3.28. Policies means policies, guidelines and rules, as developed, amended and updated from

time to time in accordance with clause 27 of the Club Participation Agreement, including

without limitation those standards, requirements and rules referred to in this Agreement,

the Competition Rules, the Operations Manual, the Commercial Manual and the Branding

Guidelines.

3.29. Product Licensee refers to an external company who is engaged by the League or the

Club to product licensed products

3.30. QSNL refers to the Queensland State Netball League which was the competition

preceding the Sapphire and Ruby Series’ competitions.

3.31. Regular Season means the home and away season of the League and does not include

any formal pre-season competition, Matches organised by Club, Other Matches or Finals

series.

3.32. Ruby Series means the competitions directly underpinning the HART Sapphire Series. The

Ruby Series will be split into two sections – South and North. All Ruby Series teams will

have a direct link to a HART Sapphire Series Club.

3.33. Season means the period NQ sets aside for the conduct of the League within any 12-

month period, including the Finals Series and any pre or post season tournament or

knockout competition or Matches organised and/or sanctioned by NQ.

3.34. Share of Voice (SOV) means the relative percentage of exposure afforded to an entity in

relation to branding

3.35. Team refers to the final list of 10 or 12 players (dependent on the Competition Rules),

who will be listed on the team sheet to compete in League matches.

4. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY & BRAND GUIDELINES 4.1. NQ will work with each Club to create an Original Club logo which reflects the overall

direction and style of the League for which the League will register and retain ownership

of in perpetuity.

4.2. The Club in collaboration with NQ may then also create a Locked-Up Logo which

incorporates their naming rights club sponsor and the original Club logo (Club/League

logo lockup). The Club/League Locked Up Logo needs to be approved by the League.

4.3. Brand Guidelines will be provided for the League and for each Club. This will include

versions of the Club logo and the Club/League Locked Up Logo, in full colour and mono.

4.4. NQ will retain ownership of all Intellectual Property which comprises the HART Sapphire

Series, Ruby Series’ League Original and Locked UP Logos and all Original Club Logos. The

full details of this are outlined in the Club Participation Agreement (CPA).

4.5. Netball Queensland will be responsible for IP registration and the cost to protect the

League logo, League logo lockup and the Original Club Logos, but not the Locked up or

Integrated Club Logos.

4.6. The Club must include the League Logo or Locked Up League Logo on all Club marketing

and promotional collateral including but not limited to websites, posters, flyers, banners,

Club apparel and merchandise, Club forms and contracts. In summary, whenever the Club

logo appears it must be accompanied by the League logo, unless otherwise approved by

the League.

4.7. Wherever possible all logos should be produced in colour. The logos should never be

cropped, distorted, compressed, extended or altered in any way. The logos should never

by applied on an angle.

4.8. The League logo can never be smaller in size than the Club logo (based on area).

4.9. The League logo should be positioned adjacent to the Club logo consistent with the

Uniform Guidelines. For example, on apparel, the League logo will always be on the right

chest, the Club logo will be on the left chest.

4.10. Any application of the League logo (original or lockup) requires League approval.

Submissions for approval should include a mock-up or draft artwork of the logo

application and an overview of the planned use and/or distribution of the collateral.

5. SPONSORSHIP 5.1. NQ holds complete rights to all sponsorship of the League.

5.2. The following categories are also exclusive due to being Netball Australia protected

partner categories:

• Motor Vehicle Category - Nissan

• Technology – includes phones, tablets, whitegoods, home appliances,

headphones – Samsung

• Banking and Financial – any of the “BIG 4” banks, Westpac, Commonwealth,

National Australia and ANZ (including any sub brands or subsidiaries)- Suncorp

• Property and Construction Category – AV Jennings

5.3. The following categories are exclusive due to being Netball Queensland protected partner

categories;

• Sporting Equipment including balls – Hart Sport

• Active Wear or Sports Apparel – Lorna Jane

• Non-alcoholic beverages (soft drink, sports drink and water) – Coca-Cola

Amatil

• Personal & Business Banking, general & business insurance, wealth products

and services (excluding superannuation and private medical insurance) -

Suncorp

• Chocolate and Confectionery - Cadbury

• Health Fund – HCF

• Supermarkets - Woolworths

• Shoes / footwear - MIZUNO

• Automotive – Nissan

5.4. The following categories are not considered appropriate for sponsorship of Netball in

Queensland and therefore Clubs will not be permitted to secure sponsorships in these

categories:

• Alcohol

• Gaming

• Gambling

• Tobacco

• Adult Category

• Junk Food

5.5. If the League secures a Principle Partner for the League after a Club has secured a Club

sponsor that is a competitor of that League Principle Partner, the Club sponsorship will

stand until the end of the agreement.

5.6. The League requires that, any new prospective sponsor to a club within the League, must

be approved by Netball Queensland to ensure there is no risk of conflict.

5.7. Where there is an obvious existing conflicting sponsorship, the Club must contact the

League six (6) months prior to the expiry of the current agreement and afford the

League’s exclusive category sponsor an opportunity to secure the Club sponsorship

moving forward. Should the League Principle Partner decline this opportunity, the Club

will be able to renew their sponsorship with their existing partner.

5.8. Non-Exclusive League Sponsorship Categories 5.8.1. Clubs are permitted to acquire sponsors who are competitors of other non-

exclusive Netball Queensland partners, but must notify NQ in writing before they

enter into any sponsorship agreement.

5.8.2. Clubs entering into any agreement with a partner that conflicts with the non-

exclusive categories below must complete a Sponsorship Approval Pro Forma

(Appendix 2) and submit it to the League.

5.8.3. The following categories are currently non-exclusive and Clubs may enter

agreements in these categories:

• Massage Cream – fisiocrem

• TV Broadcaster - Channel 9

• Telecommunications & Technology - Telstra

• Camping and outdoor products - OzTrail 5.8.4. The League reserves the right to enter into agreements with additional sponsors.

Conversely, sponsors from the above list may choose to discontinue their

involvement from year to year. The League will advise Clubs of changes to this list

whenever changes occur.

5.9. Prior to the commencement of the season, Clubs will be required to submit Sponsor

Approval Form (Appendix 2) outlining their proposed sponsorship agreements and

current sponsorship agreements.

5.10. Club Sponsorship Structure 5.10.1. Clubs can establish a sponsorship structure that is suitable to their own situation.

Netball Queensland recommends a tiered model which provides commercial

partners with layered access to use of the Club logos and marks.

5.11. Asset Allocation – League and Clubs 5.11.1. Below are the allocations of key commercial assets across the League and Clubs.

Clubs are prohibited from commercialising League assets, and the League is

prohibited from commercialising Club assets.

6. UNIFORM BRANDING GUIDELINES 6.1. The branding of official Club match and training kit, as well as coach and Club official

apparel, is at the discretion of Netball Queensland.

6.2. Sponsor logo placement and sizing guidelines for Club apparel branding are outlined in

the following sections. Please note the following:

6.2.1. Only one (1) sponsor brand may be placed in each available logo position

6.2.2. No logo can exceed the maximum length and height specifications, and no logo

can exceed the maximum allowable square centimetre area. Please note,

maximum height and length measurements do not always equate to maximum

square centimetre area. Drawings are not to scale.

6.2.3. All League Sponsor logos must be applied exactly as directed by Netball

Queensland.

6.2.4. It is the Club’s responsibility to ensure hem line logos are not encroached upon once playing kit is hemmed. Please allow enough room to ensure this happens.

6.2.5. The dimensions in each instance relate to the total logo, not the letters within the logo.

6.2.6. On the side panels, the beginning of the Club Principle Partner logo must start under the armpit and run towards the hem, running the same way on each side.

6.4. Bibs

6.4.1. The dimensions of each bib are 22.5cm (h) x 19cm (w). The positional lettering on

each bib must appear 15cm high.

6.4.2. Bib lettering must be a contrasting colour to that of the bib.

6.4.3. Bib branding is outlined below. The sponsor logos can also appear in the same

location on the dress – printed directly on the dress, under where the bib sits.

6.4.4. Branding is to appear on the front and back bibs in the same location on all seven

(7) netball positions.

7. CLUB MATCH AND TRAINING KIT 7.1. Clubs will be entitled to source their own apparel partner and provide each player and

staff member with the following team kit as a minimum, free of charge.

7.1.1. Match dress - 1 for each player 7.1.2. Media polo - 1 for each player, coach and official 7.1.3. Warm up shirt - 1 for each player 7.1.4. Training singlet - 2 for each player 7.1.5. Tracksuit Top - 1 for each player, coach and official 7.1.6. Tracksuit Pants - 1 for each player, coach and official 7.1.7. Training Short - 2 for each player 7.1.8. Set of bibs - 2 per Team

7.2. NQ will provide suitable copies of League Partner Logos to Clubs to provide to apparel

partners for production

7.3. Clubs are encouraged to discuss their apparel requirements with NQ’s apparel partner

(BLK) but are not obligated to use this provider.

7.4. Final designs, colours and branding will be subject to League approval. A full sample of

the match dress and media polo must be provided to NQ for approval prior to full

production occurring. The sample must include all League sponsor logos on the apparel.

7.5. Clubs can purchase additional items of kit at their own cost. Clubs may also design kit

items additional to those listed above, with all items subject to approval by the League.

7.6. Only items from the approved Club apparel for the current season may be worn by

Players or Club Staff in any official HART Sapphire Series environment. This includes

warm-ups, media appearances and player appearances.

8. STATIC SIGNAGE INFORMATION 8.1. Netball Queensland retains the management rights all signage at League matches

8.2. There will be a designated Home Team for every match

8.3. The Home Team will be given 50% of static venue signage for their match, the League will

receive the other 50%. Static signage will include as a minimum sixteen corflute

courtside A-frame signs which will be displayed at each match within the live streamlining

arc. Eight (8) of these will be League signs, the other eight (8) will be Home Team signs.

Please note that once the new venue is completed this section may be updated to reflect

additional static signage opportunities

8.4. Away Clubs will have no signage rights

8.5. Clubs can use their allocated signs to feature their sponsors’ logos or their own Club

name / logo.

8.6. Club and League sponsor signage should be alternated. Any given sponsor (Club or

League) can have a maximum of two consecutive signs placed together.

8.7. The League will co-ordinate production, storage and distribution of ALL Clubs’ corflute

courtside A-frame signage. Production costs will be passed on to the Clubs.

8.8. Club media banners can be used by Clubs on game day for post- or pre-game interviews

with their players, or at any other time, whenever the content is being produced by the

Club. Club media banners will need to include the integrated League logo, which must

take up a minimum of 25% share of voice. Clubs will be responsible for producing their

Club Media banner, which will be subject to League approval.

8.9. The League will use the League media backdrop on game day and non-game days when

the content is being produced by the League.

8.10. Netball Queensland encourages Clubs to seek individual legal and financial advice when

negotiating and contracting sponsorships.

9. DIGITAL SIGNAGE 9.1. All teams will be afforded the opportunity to have Principle Club Partner sponsor

branding during the live stream broadcast as part of their Locked Up or Integrated team

logo as well as during breaks and when full screen statistic graphics are used.

9.2. The League will retain 50% SOV for advertising through the big screens in venue, while

the Clubs will share in the remaining 50% SOV through all games

10. TICKET SALES INCOME - MATCH DAYS 10.1. The League and the Clubs are responsible for driving match attendances. Clubs will share

in 20% of online paid ticket revenue for regular season games played at the QSNC

allocated on pro-rata basis for the number of games played at the QSNC by each Club.

These funds will be distributed back to Club’s within 30 days of the SS01 Grand Final.

10.2. The League will be responsible for ticketing for matches played at the QSNC.

10.3. Clubs hosting home games in their own venue will incur 100% of match hosting costs and

retain 100% of match revenue for that match. The Host Club will be responsible for

ticketing for matches played in their own venue, however ticket prices will be consistent

across the League as per Clause 11.

11. TICKETING AND PRICING 11.1. Match ticket prices will be determined by the League and will be consistent across all

venues.

11.2. Ticket purchased online to games at QSNC will be priced as follows (all prices include GST)

and will allow the attendee to watch all HART Sapphire Series and Ruby Series games

played in the venue on that day.

11.2.1. Adults $10

11.2.2. Concession/Students $5

11.2.3. Children Under 15 – Free

11.2.4. Family Entry (max of 5) $25

11.3. Game Day ticket purchases at the venue, pricing will be as follows (all prices include GST)

and allow patrons to watch all HART Sapphire Series games in the venue on that day:

11.3.4. Family $30

11.4. All tickets will be general admission, there will be no reserved or dedicated seating

11.5. The League will provide season accreditation passes (free entry into all matches) for

11.6. For all matches played at Queensland State Netball Centre (QSNC), the League will

provide each Club with ten (10) Free-of-Charge (FOC) tickets. These can be used at the

Club’s discretion for sponsors or other stakeholders.

11.7. Should Clubs require any additional tickets, they may be purchased from the League.

11.8. Netball Queensland reserves the right to provide FOC tickets to a range of stakeholders at

any HART Sapphire Series match, including hosted games outside of the Brisbane area.

These stakeholders include League sponsors and guests, NQ guests and VIP’s and NQ

Staff (including match and Club officials).

12. MATCH DAY ACTIVITY 12.1. Below is a summary of the allocation of key game day assets - League and HOME Club for

games played at the QSNC.

12.2. The League will be responsible for event presentation, including all costs, at matches

played at the QSNC.

12.3. Host Clubs will be responsible for event presentation and associated hosting costs for all

matches played at their nominated venue(s) in line with the match hosting and

operational requirements which the League will require all reasonable efforts to be made

to meet.

12.4. Clubs will have the right to activate at their home matches, wherever they are played.

This is at their discretion (i.e. foyer sponsor activations, giveaways, product sampling,

face-painting, sponsor half-time activity, and coin toss). Organising activations will be the

responsibility of the Host Club. All activations will be subject to League approval.

12.5. The League and League sponsors will have the same activation rights at Host Club Venues

as they do for all matches played in the QSNC

12.6. The League and Host Club will mutually agree on activations that take place at any given

match. If Clubs wish to activate during breaks in games, they should apply to the League

to do this detailing the plan for the activation.

12.7. Clubs will have no activation rights at their away matches.

12.8. The League will organise and fund a courtside announcer for all matches held at Brisbane

Sports Arena.

12.9. Clubs are invited to suggest people for this role and for live stream commentary if they

are hosting matches in their own Venue

12.10. The courtside announcer will deliver Host Club and League messages for their respective

sponsors. Their responsibilities at each game will include -

12.10.1. Introducing match officials

12.10.2. Introducing each Team member one by one

12.10.3. Calling time outs, scores, League and Club partner recognition and anything

else of interest to attendees

12.11. If the League choose to use video screens at the QSNC, League and Host Club sponsor

messaging will be shared 50:50.

12.12. The Host Club will be responsible for organising and funding courtside announcers for

Club Hosted Home matches not held at the QSNC.

12.13. For matches not held at the QSNC, Host clubs will be required to submit an MC script as

per Appendix Seven. The League will advise prior to the season commences when these

MC scripts are due, along with League partner messaging required to be included.

13. COMPETITIONS 13.1. Clubs will be offered the opportunity to manage the underpinning competition, the

Queensland Premier League (QPL) within their catchment area. Clubs will be afforded

the opportunity to commercialise these competitions as part of securing commercial

partners.

13.2. Full details of obligations and benefits will be outlined in the QPL competition

documentation

14. LICENSING AND MERCHANDISE 14.1. Replica Supporters’ Apparel

14.1.1. Club replica supporters’ apparel can only be produced by Club’s apparel partner. All costs of producing replica merchandise will be borne by the Club, and all profits from the sale of replica items will sit with the Club.

14.1.2. All Club replica supporters’ apparel must include the integrated League logo, Club logo and the same sponsor branding as the Club kit.

14.1.3. League and Club Sponsors must be used on Club replica apparel 14.1.4. All artwork and designs are subject to League approval.

14.2. Non-replica Supporters’ Apparel 14.2.1. The Club is responsible for the production and sale of their own non-replica items

of supporter merchandise. All costs of producing non-replica supporters’ merchandise will be borne by the Club, and all profits from the sale of replica items will sit with the Club.

14.2.2. All Club non-replica supporters’ apparel must include the integrated League logo and Club logo.

14.2.3. All artwork and designs are subject to League approval. 14.3. Licensed Product

14.3.1. Clubs may choose to produce Licensed products for sale or to giveaway either at match or through their own channels.

14.3.2. The Club may choose to use the Original, Locked-Up or Integrated Logo on the licensed products.

14.3.3. League and Club Sponsor Logos may be used on non-replica apparel but are not required.

14.3.4. The Club is responsible for all costs associated with production of Licensed Products and in turn retain all revenue from sale or distribution of the same products.

14.4. At-match Merchandise Sales rights 14.4.1. Both the League and the Clubs will have rights to sell merchandise at matches,

from dedicated sales outlets. 14.4.2. The League will work with Clubs in the management of sales at matches, but

Clubs will be responsible for the management and sale of stock and will retain 100% of revenue taken through income from the sale of Club stock

14.4.3. League merchandise sold at matches will be generic in nature. It won’t feature any HART Sapphire Series Club IP i.e. Netball Queensland-branded, HART Sapphire Series-branded or Firebirds-branded products).

14.5. Use of Individual Player Property 14.5.1. Some non-apparel licensed products may include the use of player property.

While the players involved in this League are not part of the SSN Collective Player Agreement, it is the intention of the League to abide by the SSN Collective Player Agreement regulations relating to the use of Player IP.

14.5.2. Use of Player photographic imagery is able to be used by the League and Clubs for use on product or promotional material. A minimum of three (3) players must

be used by Clubs or Product Licensees in all executions, except for Player Trading Cards

14.5.3. Proposed products that feature less than three (3) players require the approval of the player(s) featured on the product.

14.5.4. Further key points relating to the use of Player Property are:

• Approval of the players’ IP will be the responsibility of the player or if under 18, their guardian or parent.

• If the Club or League does not receive approval within five (5) days, approval will be assumed as given.

15. ATHLETE APPEARANCES AND USE OF PLAYER IP 15.1. Clubs and Product Licensee acknowledge that they have an obligation to support the

marketing and promotion of the League.

15.2. Each Contracted Player and Coach will provide up to forty (40) hours or 400 hours per

Club per year, of appearance time to promote the Club, the League and Netball in

general. This excludes any appearances that are paid, but may include, but not be limited

to:

15.2.1. League and Club Season Launches

15.2.2. League and Club Media Appearances

15.2.3. Club Community Engagement Activities

15.2.4. Club Association Visits

15.2.5. Pre-game media

15.2.6. Fan Days and similar promotional activities for the Club or the League

15.3. The League will utilise a Player Appearance Request form (Appendix 5) when requesting

Player appearances. The League reserves the right to request specific player/s for

appearances and will identify these players on the Player Appearance Request form

(where possible) at least ten (10) working days prior to the appearance date.

15.4. The League and Clubs will acknowledge the Players rights in relation to their individual IP.

The League and Clubs will not offer as part of the League or Club sponsorship offerings,

individual player sponsorships/ambassadors without the prior written approval of the

athlete.

15.5. For the avoidance of doubt, players will not be expected to forgo employment or

University attendance to complete appearances for Netball. It is anticipated most of this

appearance work will be conducted on weekend’s at Netball Associations within the

Clubs’ Aligned Associations.

15.6. The Club is responsible for any costs associated with delivering these appearances and

should seek commercial support to assist with this.

15.7. The Club’s Operations Manager will oversee the distribution of player hours to Aligned

Associations during the term of their contract. The Operations Manager will also be

responsible for managing and recording the appearances completed by each player

during the year to use during the annual review process.

16. LIVE STREAMING, MEDIA, COMMUNICATIONS & DIGITAL 16.1. Netball Queensland retains all broadcasting and live streaming rights to the HART

Sapphire Series and will be responsible for live streaming all matches, including all costs

associated with matches played in the QSNC.

16.2. The League and Club are dually responsible for promoting the HART Sapphire Series to

build a local fan base, sell tickets and build the profile of the League, Clubs and individual

athletes

16.3. NQ will create a dedicated League website which will include basic information on each

on the Clubs. The League website will also include a link to each Club website. NQ will

manage the League site, run League social media, write and produce content. All digital

assets will sit with the League.

16.4. Clubs will be required to create and manage their own Club website and be responsible

for running social media, writing and producing content. All digital assets on the Club

website will sit with the Club.

16.5. The allocation of digital assets is summarised below.

16.6. Clubs are encouraged to work with Netball Queensland’s media staff to assist with

developing stories and social media content, and to assist with making players and/or

Club staff available for local media opportunities.

16.7. Where required, Clubs are to make available the Head Coach and Captain or player

representative to make comment for media. This may occur on-site after the conclusion

of the match, or via phone and email in the days leading up to or following the conclusion

of the match.

16.8. Clubs agree that all Club players, coaches and Club staff adhere to the Netball

Queensland Social Media Guidelines. Please refer to Appendix 6 for this document.

16.9. All media and photographers at HART Sapphire Series events must be approved by

Netball Queensland.

17. FINALS 17.1. Below is a summary of the changes in commercial and match day arrangements for Finals

matches, as compared to Regular Season games.

17.2. All Finals matches will be played at the QSNC

17.3. All ticket sales income (100%) will be retained by the League

17.4. The League reserves the right to increase general public ticket prices for Finals matches

17.5. Netball Queensland will make corporate boxes available on request for participating

Clubs, at no charge. Any food and beverage costs will be at the expense of the Club

17.6. Static courtside A-frame signage will be allocated as follows -

17.6.1. League - 50% (8 signs)

17.6.2. Club 1 - 25% (4 signs)

17.6.3. Club 2 - 25% (4 signs)

17.7. The League and both Clubs will have activation rights at Finals matches. The League will

work with the Clubs to mutually agree on what activations take place, when and where,

at Finals matches. All activations will be subject to League approval.

17.8. The League and BOTH Clubs will have at-match merchandise selling rights at Finals, from

separate outlets

17.9. Only the League media banner will be used at Finals matches (no Club media banners)

17.10. Courtside announcer sponsor messaging, and promotion on video screens if used, will be

split as follows -

17.11. All other commercial arrangements will be as per normal Regular Season matches played

at the QSNC.

18. COMPLIANCE 18.1. The commercial integrity of the HART Sapphire Series is fundamental to the future

success of the League, and ultimately the benefit of all stakeholders.

18.2. NQ is committed to ensuring that a consistent approach is taken with all Clubs in a

transparent manner and thus any breaches of the manual will be treated seriously.

18.3. Netball Queensland will seek a written explanation from the Club regarding any breach.

18.4. Netball Queensland reserves the right to penalise the Club for a breach in any manner it

deems appropriate.

19. CHARITIES 19.1. If a Club would like to support a charity for a particular round of the Regular Season or

Finals Series, they should provide details in writing to the League Manager five (5) days

prior to the schedule fixture. Approval for such shall not be unreasonably withheld.

19.2. If the League or a Club would like all Clubs to participate for a particular cause or charity,

where possible the maximum lead in time is advised, however it is acknowledged that

this may not always be possible.
