Here are some questions that they answered for us: Student - ”Have you ever got hurt”? Bill - “Yes we have gotten hurt”. Student - “ How old were you when you started riding bikes”? Bill - “When I was 10”.Student - “Do you do big stunts”? Tyler - ”Yes, I do air stunts and Bill does ground stunts”.

Bill and Tyler picked a VIP to come down and meet them personally. That student was Sydney Pinkston from Ms. Copenhaver’s 5th grade class.

Wonder Wheels, a BMX stunt team, came to Robert B. Turner Elementary on September 2, 2011. Tyler Starr and Bill Nitschke talked to the students about bullying and how to stop it. Bill said “When I was 13, a kid in my neighborhood bullied me and it made me feel terrible”. He said that he didn’t want anyone to ever feel that way. If you or someone you know is being bullied, report it to an adult or your teacher.

Bill and Tyler kept telling us “Anything is Possible” and “Never Give Up!” Overall, it was a really positive, uplifting experience.

Current EventsHurricane Ireneby Joshua Rousey

Hurricane Irene was a large and powerful Atlantic Hurricane that left extensive flood and wind damage along its path through the Caribbean, the United States East Coast and as far north as Atlantic Canada in August 2011. Irene barely past Florida with its outer bands producing tropical-storm-force winds. It made landfall over Eastern North Carolina's Outer Banks on the morning of August 27, and moved along southeastern Virginia.

After briefly reemerging over water, Irene made second U.S. landfall near Little Egg Inlet in New Jersey the morning of August 28, becoming the first hurricane to make landfall in the state since 1903. Irene was downgraded to a tropical storm as it made its third U.S. landfall in the Coney Island area of Brooklyn, New York, at approximately 9:00 a.m. on August 28. Considerable damage occurred in the Catskill Mountains and Mohawk Valley of New York State and in Vermont which suffered flooding in centuries taking at least 24 lives and causing an estimated $7 billion in damage due to high winds and flooding. The Federal Government of FEMA Ron Paul says “The Federal Government can’t afford it”Works Cited:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikihttp://abcnews.go.com/Politics/hurricane-irene-flooding-put-spotlight-fema-emergency-funding/story?id=14414230

Remembering September 11, 2001 By: Gabriel Gettelfinger

Terrorists hi-jacked four passenger filled jets on the morning of September 11, 2001 at 8:46 in the morning at New York City.  One passenger filled jet plane flew into twin tower one.  Someone had crashed a plane into one of the twin towers!  Another plane had crashed into twin tower two.  At 9:03 am the building started to catch fire and collapse.  People were screaming, running, and jumping out the windows.

When the dust cleared the buildings were gone. Nearly 2,753 people had died.  There were 341 firefighters and 2 paramedics that also lost their lives trying to save people in the twin towers.  It was a horrible time for the U.S.A.  The response from President George W. Bush was to go to war with the terrorists responsible for this attack.

ONE PLACE I WILL GOBy: Kaylee Darnell

Inspired by: Dr. Suess’ Oh the Places You Will Go

One place I will go Is a big scary placeWere no one is right and your a disgrace

But like a ball  You'll go up an uncertain hillAnd come back down in a thrill

I say it right now I say it quite good

Do your best in the world   Even though it might

Be scary Don’t give a sign

And your come back       Shirley Devine

Poetry Corner From Florida to KentuckyBy: Mickey Mullins

I grew up in Gulfport on 1314 Freemont Street, in central Florida.  I lived there for about 8 years.  About 6 years of my time in Florida I liked the most.  The worst part about living in this neighborhood is that I heard gunshots at least once every week and not many kids lived around me.  What I liked about living in Florida was that I got to spend time with my cousin Ryanna.

When I heard that I was visiting Kentucky, I was so excited because my grandparents were there!  The second time I came here I went to a camp called Camp Calvary.  It was so fun because I went down a huge waterslide!

I moved to Kentucky in 2010.  I came here so I can live close to my family.  I like it here a lot because I feel safer here and I have more friends here than in Florida.  So that’s my story so far!

By: Sofia Luna

It is getting really blue in town!  This funny blue movie will have you laughing your head off!          The smurfs travel to New York City and try to get back home to Smurf Village.  The mean wizard, Gargamel, and his cat, Azreal, try to capture the Smurfs.  Will Gargamel capture the Smurfs, or will the Smurfs get home safe and sound?      My favorite part was when Gargamel got hit by a truck.  Now that was funny!

Eve's book of the month Chosen by: Eve Gettelfinger

The book of the month is "Number the Stars." This is a chapter book.  The main characters are Annamarie, Ellen, and Kristi. Ellen is a Jewish girl, living in World War II.  She lives in the Denmark and Swedish area. Her friend, Annamarie, and her family hid her from the Nazis. Their friend, Peter, takes Ellen's parents and hides them some where else.  My favorite part is when Annamarie’s little sister, Kristi, gets new fish shoes.  I like this part because she finds them disgusting.  This book is a great example about life as a Jew during World War II.  The part about Kristi and her shoes are funny and made me laugh.  People who like wars and history would like this book.  I believe this book is good because it is about World War II and it is about some of our history.  This book would appeal to the fourth and fifth grader classes.

Need Advice….Ask Mely or Zodie

Hello. Mely and Zodie here. This is the advice column where you can ask questions about things you are having trouble with. If you want your question in the school newspaper, you can write down your question and put it in the advice box in the office. Remember to add a fake name.

Dear Mely,I need help. There is a girl bullying me at school. What should I do?Bullied

Dear Bullied,I see your problem. If it helps, you could just ignore him. Kids everywhere wake up, afraid to go to school. Don't do this! It won't help at all. You could also stand up to her without hurting her. Don't seem afraid while you say “No!” Then, the bully won't take you seriously. You could also give her a second chance if you already haven't done that. If you are still having trouble with the bully, tell a teacher, parent, or a guardian. I hope this helps!Sincerely,Mely

Dear Zodie,                          There are some boys at school that tease me because of my clothes. What should I do?  Dear Teased,You should tell your teacher. She will make sure it won't happen again. If it happens again they will be in detention.

Sincerely,Zodie

Dear Mely,My class got assigned seats at lunch and I set by a bunch of people that I can't cooperate with. Can you help?-Cooperation Operation

Dear Cooperation Operation,I understand how you feel. I have had this problem before. Here is some advice. Try to make friends with the people you sit with. Maybe this will help. If not, here is some more. Try to start a conversation with them. I hope this helps.Sincerely, Mely
