Teams Day: Help needed, please!
Our annual teams day will be held at The
Channon on Friday 21 September. We would
love to have a ‘team manager’ on each of the
teams for K-2. The team manager and teacher
supervises the team in moving to their area for
each of their games at the appropriate times.
We really hope you can help us make this a
smooth and enjoyable day for everyone.
Please see teams over the page and let us
know if you are willing to help.
“Nasty Visitors!” are still circulating in the community
Tummy Bug
There is still a nasty tummy bug going around at the moment. If your child is unwell, please keep
him/her home to avoid the spread of this illness. Please also send in an absence note. Thank you.
Headlice
These critters are also around again. Families are asked to check and treat. Thanks
School Sores/Impetigo
This highly contagious skin infection is going around also. To reduce the spread, appropriate anti-
biotics need to be taken 24 hours before returning to school as well watertight dressings over ex-
posed weeping and crusted sores. Thanks
Half Day Holiday—Lismore Cup. Thursday 20th September 12 noon.
A decision was made by Lismore Council to declare a half day public holiday on Thursday 20
September 2018 for the Lismore Cup. As this has been gazetted by the NSW Minister for Indus-
trial Relations under the Public Holidays Act of 2010, the public holiday applies to all employees
working within the Lismore Local Council Area. Since January 2012, new provisions of the Public
Holidays Act 2010 have applied to Local Public Holidays and schools cannot be excluded from
locally gazetted public holidays for race days. Therefore, all primary and high schools in the Lis-
more town boundary will be non-operational from 12 noon on Thursday, 20 September, 2018.
As the public holiday commences at 12 noon, it is important for all families to make arrangements
to collect their children by no later than 11.30 am on Thursday 20 September 2018.

Public Speaking- School Finals 9:30—11:00 am (selected students)
Well done to all the students! It is so impressive that every child in the school delivered a
formal speech to their classmates. Following the in-class speeches, some students have been
selected to speak at the School Finals this Friday,14th Sept. These speeches will be given in
front of the whole school and three judges.
Stage 2 (Yr3/4) and Stage 3 (Yr 5/6) first and second place getters will then compete at Jiggi in
The Big Scrub Public Speaking Competition. Due to a clash with Teams day, the Jiggi competi-
tion will now be held in Term 4, week 2.
ORDER OF SPEECHES (approximate running times only)
CHILD SAFETY: PLEASE NOTE We do not allow children to wander out the front gate to look for parents
and carers at pick-up time. Children who are being picked up at the end of the school day need to be col-
lected from the COLA. Please also use the designated crossing when crossing the road, it gets very busy
with traffic at home time.
