NEWSLETTER TERM 3 WEEK 2 July 30 2015
PRINCIPAL’S PERSPECTIVE
Dear Members of the St Paul’s Community
The Bishops’ Religious Literacy Assessments for Years 3 and 5
This week the Year 3 and 5 students participated in the annual WA Bishops’ Religious Literacy tests, which provide a snapshot of student performance in RE. The students’ faith is not evaluated, rather their knowledge and understanding of the RE curriculum is assessed, using a combination of multiple choice, short and extended response items.
Parish School Mass
Please remember that this Sunday, 2 August, the Year 3 students and parents will be
hosting the 9.30am Parish Mass. It is wonderful to see the children involved in the various
ministries during the Mass and the morning tea afterwards, which will be organised by the
Year 3 parents, is a great way to meet parishioners and school families alike. We hope to
see you there!
2015 Pre Kindy Enrolment Interviews
This term I will be carrying out the enrolment interviews for 2016 Pre Kindy applicants. Children who are turning three before the end of June next year are eligible to apply. If you know of any parents with young children interested in Pre-Kindy 2016, please encourage them to get their applications in as soon as possible. There are also a few places in the 2015 Pre Kindy class if any parents are interested in their three year old children commencing Pre Kindy during semester two of this year.
Condolences
Our sincere condolences are extend to Mary Kerrigan (EA in the Kindy class) and her family on the sad loss of her dear father. We keep Mary in our prayers and ask our Lord to comfort her family and grant her dear father eternal peace.
Joanna Noonan PRINCIPAL

OUR VISION STATEMENT
REFLECTION
Prayer for
Generosity
(St. Ignatius of
Loyola, founder of
the Jesuits )
Lord, teach me to
be generous.
Teach me to serve
you as you deserve;
to give and not to
count the cost,
to fight and not to
heed the wounds,
to toil and not to
seek for rest,
to labour and not to
ask for reward,
save that of
knowing that I do
your will.
Amen

Year 2 IT News
“At the heart of effective technology integration, technology offers opportunities to be more actively involved in the
learning experience.”- Vanessa Vega
Since our last IT Zone blurb, we have been experimenting with more Apps on our IPads. The App that we really enjoyed
using is called ‘Move Note’ and we used this App to video record our recount writing. We worked in small groups and
here is what we thought of this IT Project........
“I liked this APP because we used teamwork and I really liked when we got to watch our videos after we created them.”-
Anna Salfinger
“I liked how I could watch my friends recount.”– Julius Muccilli
“I liked Move Note because it was like you were on TV.”- Tyeson Dang
Here we are working on our IT Project…….

Drive Through Rules and Expectations
In the interest of the safety of the students collected in drive through, a list of rules and expectations regarding student behaviour is listed below.
We ask parents to read these rules and support the school in their implementation.
If you require any further clarification, please make an appointment to see the Principal.
Class teachers will walk their students down to the drive through every afternoon by 3:10pm.
Students are to sit in their year groups, in their designated areas.
Students are not allowed to move around or eat food as this leaves a mess.
Students will not make excessive noise and must sit quietly and watch for their parents’ vehicle.
Students must listen to the instructions given to them by the teacher on duty.
Once their family name is called students must move quickly to the position identified by the teacher on duty
FAMILY FUN DAY
14 WEEKS TO GO!!
Our Family Fun Day is getting closer. Each week you will find in the newsletter, new ways that you may be able to help out with some of the stalls. Each class has been allocated various stalls for the day, but it
doesn’t mean we can’t all pitch in and help one another.
Pre Primary will be looking after the plant stall this year. Perhaps while you are out and about visiting friends and family this weekend you may
like to keep an eye out for some “succulents.” Please ask for cuttings.
Below is a great website to give you some tips about growing them in tin
cans.

If you have any ceramic or terracotta pots that you would like to part
with, please bring them down to Pre Primary.
Please continue to save your Jars with their lids! We will be asking for
them soon!
