The Way We Worked Memoir Writing Recognition Ceremony BRASS and Literacy Volunteers of Greater Waterbury have teamed to create “The Way We Worked: S t o r i e s f r o m G r e a t e r Waterbury.” This collection of stories is based on work experiences and memories from bus drivers to factory workers and bookkeepers to shop owners. Our “authors” come from our local community, including participants from each Senior Center in Waterbury. This lends itself with perfect timing with the Smithsonian’s The Way We Worked exhibit tours stopping at the Mattatuck Museum. 10:00am—12:00 pm Wednesday July 30 Mattatuck Museum

Big BRASS Shout Out
A big BRASS shout to Mrs. Helen Davis.
After working with the Mount Olive Senior Center
for 43 years she has officially retired. Helen has
been a vital reason why Mount Olive senior center
has succeeded. Now we are excited to have her as
one of our BRASS members. Thank you so much for
everything Helen.
Happy Birthday to all our May and June babies.
The birthstone of May is an emerald while June is one
of only two months that has three birthstones associat-
ed with it, giving the lucky people born in June a
choice of gemstones between pearl, alexandrite, and
moonstone.

Summer Tip: when exercising wear light-colored, lightweight clothing.
Dark colors absorb the heat, which can make you feel as if you’re wrapped in a warm blan-
ket. Heavyweight, tight-fitting clothing will also heat you up. Keep it loose. Keep it light.
More air will be able to circulate over your skin, keeping you cool.
