Students of the Week

Year 7/8 Humanities Mallee Waterways project presentation - from Miss Wizz On Monday, the Year 7/8 Humanities class presented their Mallee Waterways assignment, which they have been

working on during semester 1, to family, visitors and staff members.

The students made a 3D map of Lake Hindmarsh, Outlet Creek and Lake Albacutya, and a website with information

about various locations around the district, including Aboriginal history, pioneer history and facts and figures about

the lakes and creek. They created QR codes which were stuck on the map at different locations. Visitors were given

iPads which they could use to scan the codes, which then directed them to the relevant information on the

website.

The students also planned and served a delicious morning tea to their guests.

This project has been a long time in production, and the students showed excellent persistence in completing it.

Not only did they learn more about our local area, they learned skills in project management, evaluating progress

and changing expectations, and working together in a group.

Our visitors on Monday were very impressed with the final product, and I was extremely pleased to see the class

showing pride in their work.

Thank you to the Rainbow Archives, Wimmera Mallee Pioneer Museum and Wimmera Catchment Management

Authority for their assistance in completing this project.

With every good working bee, a celebratory meal is a must.

This term’s ‘Our Space Big Breakfast’ was no different. All students gathered on Wednesday morning to enjoy a delicious breakfast in the Multipurpose Room. This would not be possible without the generous

support of the Bendigo Bank, Rainbow IGA and the Bow Bakery. The time and effort involved from the staff of the College, many of whom also

donated food items, is huge and the breakfast would not happen without you. A final thanks to all the students for providing the fantastic company,

and to those who offered their assistance serving and cleaning up. It is most appreciated and makes for a really enjoyable morning together.

Thank you! Miss Schumann and Miss Downing
