July 2010 Happy Fourth of July TCDS members! I hope you all had a great 4 th and were able to make time amid the holiday hussle and bussle to reflect a bit on the birth of our nation. May we all be thankful for the freedoms and opportunities available to us here, and for the sacrifices many individuals and families have made to provide and protect them. The “Thermostat Wars” continue:

When we last talked, I had tried to take control of the thermostats by putting my foot down. “The only one allowed to adjust the “stat” will be me”. I installed sophisticated surveillance equipment and wired the thermostats with 30,000 volt Taser wires. Some how the thermostat would magically go from 72 degrees (room temperature) to pizza oven. I went through hours of surveillance tapes; questioned all possible perps (receptionists); offered rewards for knowledge of possible abuse of digital temperature control devices; water boarded (prophy-jeted) anyone wearing a sweater, still, no one fessed-up. What was I to do? I installed fake thermostats all around the office. Everyone had their own personal thermostat, they were happily adjusting them from 60 to 90 at will, life was good .

That was then. I won. No one now adjusts the thermostats. Instead, everyone in our office, in an effort to support our local

companies (PSO and ONG), has a 200,000 watt electric heater under their chairs. They have shunned the beautiful Snuggies that I so generously bought them( funded by their 401k’s).

My latest attempt to reason with them has had less than stellar results: “But Ladies, do you want to be responsible for the melting of the Glaciers? What would Al Gore think?” I even pointed out that women shouldn’t be cold because they have large amounts of subcutaneous fat to keep them warm.

Oh-by-the-way…..I have staff openings in all areas of the office.

Always in all ways,

Nick
