Harvest Festival On Tuesday, 10 October, Year 5 will be leading the Harvest Festival assembly for Years 3 to 6. Parents and carers are welcome to attend. We will also be collecting our usual harvest items (tinned and dried food, toiletries etc) which will be donated to a local charity. We are holding a special harvest dress down day on Friday, 6 October when children can wear their own clothes to school in return for bringing in a harvest donation or a £1 donation.

On Friday, 13 October, Nursery, the Nest, Reception & Years 1 &2 will receive a visit from local environmental group, Transition Worcester, who will show the children how to make freshly pressed apple or pear juice.

We need as much fruit and containers as possible to make this event a success, so we would really appreciate donations of the following from Monday, 9 October onwards:

apples or pears from trees in your garden (there is no need to buy any fruit from a shop!)

Empty & clean squash/soft drinks bottles (at least 1L size)

Proud traditions School Parliament School Parliament

We are in the process of electing our new School Parliament. We are looking forward to finding out who will be the new Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, as well as who will be elected to the other exciting minister roles, which will include a new Values Minister. We can’t wait to see how they get involved in decisions made at school.

Wide Horizons

Year 2 were the first class to enjoy a trip out of school this term when they visited The Hive to celebrate Roald Dahl Day. They listened to an extract from the story, The BFG and then drew their own dreams in “dream jars” for a collaborative display which was brought back to school. Staff from The Hive also gave them a tour and showed them how to borrow and return books. The children had a lovely morning and are keen to return again!

Introducing our new lollipop lady...

We are delighted to welcome Julia Hodgson (mum of Myles in Year 6) as our new School Crossing Patrol Warden. Many of you will already have seen her on your journey to/from school. We are very grateful that she has taken over this very

important role, helping to keep our children safe.

Mrs Stevens and Miss Mahoney had the privilege of taking four children to London to perform with a real life opera singer and two other Griffin schools in ‘The Cotton Mill’ opera.

Despite not having rehearsed since July, the children performed magnificently in front of an audience of other Griffin schools.

Isabelle Fradley, Vince De Jesus, Ellie Broome and Maya Ryall definitely made us ‘Perry’ proud with their fabulous and energetic contributions to the show. Well done to all of you!

High achievement Attendance Our attendance for this term so far is 95.8%.

Every moment of your child’s education is important! Please help us to improve our attendance by sending your children to school every day and making sure that they arrive on time.

If your child is sick or attending a medical appointment, please phone the school before 8.30 a.m. Please try your best to ensure that dental and medical appointments are made outside the school day.

NO holidays, for any reason, will be authorised.

We thank you for your continued support and cooperation.
