44th International Trade Show (MOS) visited by over 137,000 visitorsThe 44th MOS was visited by 137,158 people in eight days, which is 8 percent less than in 2010. “If harsh economic times haven’t affected the number of exhibitors, they have, though, affected the number of visitors,” said Executive Director of Celje Fair Plc Breda Obrez Preskar a day after the trade fair closed its doors. Despite this and thanks to the positive response of exhibitors who expressed nothing but satisfaction with the visit of the right target groups, the organizer sees the trade fair as a success. This is a proof that for exhibitors fewer visitors do not necessarily mean worse results. The 44th MOS has confirmed the trend of International Trade Fair becoming a business event which is visited by more home and foreign business audience every year. ved by the Kosovo government”, said Minister Kusari-Lila.

Parliamentary elections set for 4th of December 2011!Parliamentary elections for the 90 deputies to the National Assembly of Slovenia will be held on 4 December 2011. This would be the first early election in Slovenia’s history. The election was previously scheduled to take place in 2012, four years after the 2008 elections. As stated in the constitution, the National Assembly has to elect a new Prime Minister within 30 days and a candidate has to be proposed by either members of the Assembly or the president within seven days after the fall of a government. If this does not happen, the president dissolves the Assembly and calls for a snap election. The leaders of most parliamentary political parties have expressed opinion that they prefer an early election instead of forming a new government. As no candidates were proposed by the deadline, President Danilo Türk announced that he will dissolve the Assembly on 21 October and that the election will take place on 4 December.

HOW SLOVENES LIVE IN KOSOVO “I have experienced life in Kosovo for more than two years. Generally speaking, the life in Kosovo is very challengeable! We can learn a lot from people kindness, patience and hostility. I like the way, how people communicate and stick together and give lots of attention to children. Pristina area is of course not comparable with other regions of Kosovo. Other regions are much more tradition oriented. Thanks to international donor contribution and Kosovo Government programs, all regions are becoming more efficient and connected. Most of the time, I am dealing with young population of entrepreneurs who represent the future of this nation. I have more and more friends among successful entrepreneurs and we are helping them to raise the standards and find some partnership abroad. They just need better business support infrastructure. Kosovars need more positive role models from the business area and should be more knowledge oriented

society. Slovenes are always prepared to support creative and innovative ideas. Moreover, I really respect Kosovars relationship to all Slovenes!

Jordan Berginc PhD is an entrepreneurship expert of EU-KOSVET VI. project in Kosovo, www.eukosvet6.com, co-founder of Slovene-Kosovo Business Association www.slo-kos.org and co-founder of Kosovo Association of Young Entrepreneurs www.smart-idea.org and is contributing some other NGOs.

My first impressions when I arrived in Kosovo were to be divided, but after several months of work and life on Kosovo, but now it is already 7 months I have to say that the work and life in Kosovo is very interesting and dynamic, in particular, I am very impressed by the openness people to chat as well as in business well into the latter is sometimes a little disturbing.

In business, I must say I was pleasantly surprised at the fact that we both Slovenians and Slovenian companies are very honorable, and that the Kosovar entrepreneurs desire for cooperation with Slovenian companies are very large.

Above all, I must say that this market is not only very dynamic but at its very difficult due to strong competition but also due to poor infrastructure, regardless of the last but I’m a little surprised that the Slovenian craftsmen and entrepreneurs give too little attention to

this market, primarily because of durating we Slovenes as well as the very low-cost legislation and taxation.
