TERM 3 ADMINISTRATION During the school holidays, I travel to Israel to officiate at the World Lacrosse Championships. I will return in week 4 of Term 3. In my absence Mrs Perry will be Principal and Mrs Dias will be Associate Principal. Mrs Salomons will be the teacher in TA10.

ASSEMBLY Congratulations to TA11 on a superb assembly! The circus came to Greenwood! The students performed brilliantly and kept the audience engaged. Well done to Mrs Marsland and the team in TA11.

LIGHTNING CARNIVAL - INTERSCHOOL SPORT This event was held on Friday 15 June. Our students performed sensationally well, with Football (AFL) and Netball B coming away as champions. Our modcrosse A team missed by one goal on going back to back. All our teams competed strongly and most importantly with wonderful sporting spirit. I would like to thank all the parents and family who attended during the day to support our teams. A massive thank you to our community/parent coaches:

Ron Skender – AFL

Naja Cunningham – Soccer

Jack Eaton – Modcrosse.

Of course none of the opportunities for students would have been possible without the dedication of our staff led by the magnificent Mrs Dunham. Well done Greenwood community!

VOLUNTARY CONTRIBUTIONS RAFFLE We owe a huge thank you to George’s Bike Shop (9344 2393) – 511 Wanneroo Road, Balcatta - who provided both prizes. Winners were Ben and Sophie.

Congratulations to these families and thanks for all those families who paid their contributions. You are improving the environment for your children. Please remember George’s Bike Shop for all your cycling needs.

COMMUNICATIONS – NATURE PLAY The Woodlands area is open and the mud kitchens are creating great interest. Make sure that you are keeping up with the progress and how you can get involved. http://greenwood-primary-school-nature-play.webflow.io/ UNIFORMS Ensure that you visit Tudor Uniforms over the holidays and have all your supplies ready for Term 3. It will be cold so check out the rain jackets. We have had a number of “lost” items over the last few weeks and guess what….NO NAMES!!! Please ensure that all your children’s items are clearly labelled. The tag is probably not the best place…they eventually fall off! SCHOOL APPS It has come to my attention that there are parents out there not receiving the newsletter, because they are not checking the Flexibuzz App or “it is not working”. Please talk to your friends and ensure that they know what they are doing. Help out if you can or send them to the office to get support. Ensure that your Qkr App is the latest version. Mrs Shadbolt recently sent out instructions via Flexibuzz and you will find them later in the newsletter. FAREWELL

We farewell our long term Education Assistant, Mrs Kerry O’Rourke. Kerry has been with the Department of Education for 32 years and influenced the lives of so many. She has been so important to the Allenswood and Greenwood communities, especially in the space of early literacy interventions. I know that she is going to really enjoy her retirement and will be very busy in the next phase of her community involvement. We will miss you Kerry!

We also say goodbye to our magnificent Canteen Supervisor, Ruth Carson. She has taken our canteen from a position where the P&C were going to have to close it to a 3 day per week service for our children. We will all miss you, Ruth! Top job and best wishes in your new endeavours.

HEALTH PLAN AUDIT I have recently been auditing our Student Health Plans and have found that many of the plans for Asthma and Anaphylaxis are outdated. As you are aware these plans have a lifespan of one year. Therefore, I request that should your child require an Asthma or Anaphylaxis Action Plan, you consult with your GP and organise the appropriate plan for your child. This ensures that we have up-to-date information that is pertinent to providing the appropriate level of care for your child.

I very much appreciate your assistance in ensuring that the plans for your child/children are current.

Maureen Perry Associate Principal

SECONDHAND UNIFORMS The Year 6 students continue to raise money for their Graduation activities by selling secondhand uniforms at fortnightly assemblies. If you are cleaning out your child's cupboards during the holidays and find old uniforms that don't fit any more, you are welcome to drop them at the front office or at TA10 at the beginning of next term. This is another fabulous way our school supports sustainability by recycling clothing and helping students who may need a back up uniform.

Please remember to label your child's clothing, so if lost we can return items to their rightful owners.

Sandra Dias Year 6 Teacher

QKR UPDATE

As of 6 June some older versions of the Qkr app will no longer work, and families

will need to update their app. Most people have auto update enabled in their phone settings so this will have happened automatically but if your Qkr app has stopped working, please delete the app from your phone or device and download the current version from the app store. If you have any questions please email: [email protected] or phone the office on 9243 1143.
