From the Principal’s Desk

Parents and Carers at Creswick Primary School

The staff and students in our school highly value your assistance in the classroom and support on excursions, camps and school events. Parental assistance often enhances the learning environment through increased adult participation as parents bring life skills, cultural knowledge, experiences and talents into the learning environment. Involvement in school programs also provides with new insights and understanding about their children, fostering the links and creating strong bonds between home and school learning.

We often put out requests for parent assistance, however we do understand the demands in our busy lives often mean we can not commit to the things we would like to. Parent support is always welcome at Creswick Primary School (along with a valid Working with Children Check), so if you would like to assist in the classrooms don’t hold back – please accept this as a warm welcome to come along and assist with the learning. Please contact your child’s class teacher should you wish to support our school programs.

Communication with staff can be made either through making an appointment through the office, via phone or via email. You can email your child’s teacher using the Compass App. Please note however, if you do email staff during work hours, their focus is on the learning and teaching program, it may take them time to respond.

If you have an urgent matter please contact the office directly.

School enrolments for 2020

Finalising enrolments for the 2020 year is coming around very quickly, even though we are only halfway through 2019.

It is a critical requirement that the school has the right staff in the right place at the right time, sufficient teaching and learning spaces and rich resources to support high level student engagement and student learning. To guarantee the school is offering the very best in learning opportunities it is important we have the most accurate student enrolment numbers confirmed by year level. Should families be leaving the school or are yet to enrol children into the school, we request this information is passed to the school office as soon as possible.

Parent/Student/Teacher Conferences

Just a reminder that next Wednesday 31st July, is a pupil free day so conferences can be held. Students are expected to attend school only at their conference time. Conference times are able to be booked through your Compass portal. If you are having difficulty please call the office and we will be able to assist you in booking a time.

Recycling/Sustainability

This week I was fortunate enough to meet with some of our parents who are passionate about supporting our school in becoming more sustainable. We reviewed our current processes in regards to recycling and came away with ideas to help improve this across the school. Discussion was also held around educating the students about not only the HOW of recycling but more importantly the WHY of the importance of caring for our environment. Over the next two terms processes will be implemented to support this and we will be working with our environmental leaders to help this happen.

We will begin by having 3 Waste Free Wednesdays this term, with students being encouraged to bring their snack and lunch in containers rather than wrappers. Prizes will be given to the class with the least amount of rubbish waste in their bin at the end of the day. We will send notification when these days will be happening. Our leaders Lucie Mallinson and Hailey Trounce will be promoting and running these days. Keep on the lookout for information in upcoming newsletters and announcements at assembly.

Students will also now be having recess/snack eating time inside the classroom as they do for lunchtime. From 10.50am – 11 students will eat their snacks inside the classroom, which we are hoping will reduce the amount of rubbish out in the yard.

If your child is sick…

If your child is sick, please do not send them to school. There is a 24 hour exclusion period where your child MUST be kept at home.

Last night I had a strange dream where I went to a school for wizards. I wore a black cloak and used a wand to cast different spells. I even played a strange flying ball game.
