Welcome to Kigali!
We are delighted to announce that the 25th edition of the SWIFT African Regional Conference will take place in Kigali, Rwanda on 20-22 June 2018.
Join us for this special edition of ARC, which will bring together more than 500 leading financial service executives from over 40 countries across Africa. Meet and engage with your peers from financial institutions, market infrastructures, international corporations and technology partners, and play a role in shaping the future of Africa’s financial services.
East Africa is a dynamic and varied region that contains some of the largest and highest growth economies in Africa. With so much financial sector development taking place in the region, we are excited to bring the 25th anniversary edition of ARC to Kigali, Rwanda, a country whose financial sector has been growing significantly year-on-year.
This year’s agenda will highlight innovation, technology and the future of financial services. Sessions will look at key trends in the region, including the next generation of payments, financial crime compliance and the challenge of de-risking, and the ongoing fight against cybercrime.
Join us at ARC on 20-22 June for three days of engaging discussions and high level networking. See you in Kigali!

INNOVATEWith many African countries still facing a challenges as a result of global economic conditions, our first day at ARC will look at how innovation continue to drive real growth and development across the continent. How can technology, innovation and disruption can produce tangible solutions to the continent’s most pressing challenges? We will also explore how the financial industry is responding to rapidly evolving customer needs and expectations, from faster payments to more transparency and traceability in the payments lifecycle.
ARC 2018 Programme Africa’s financial industry is changing rapidly. With so many forces transforming the world in which banks and other financial services firms operate, ARC 2018 will explore the future of Africa’s financial services sector with a focus on innovation, new technology, cyber security and compliance.

SECURE Financial institutions have long been the prime targets for cybercrime and the estimated cost of cybercrime in Africa has soared in recent years. The threat landscape for financial institutions is constantly evolving and banks are under increasing pressure to invest time, money and resources to stay ahead of the game. Is the financial industry doing enough to combat this threat and secure its future in this challenging environment? Day Two will look at the how banks can stay resilient in the cyber-age, and how governments and regulators across the continent can help the financial community better prepare and protect itself from cybercrime.
COMPLYDe-risking in Africa is on the rise. Banks around the world are reducing their correspondent banking relationships with a focus on perceived higher-risk jurisdictions, including Africa. Day three will look at the real economic and social impact of de-risking in Africa and look at how Africa’s financial community can keep up with compliance. We will explore the role of regtech and utility solutions in reducing cost and driving efficiencies, and hear from international correspondent banks about what they expect and require from local banks.
