Work Study Position Available in The MARS Facility

The Microbial Analysis, Resources and Services(MARS) facility supports the research community of theUniversity of Connecticut specializing in the analysis ofmicrobial samples and high-throughput processing ofnucleic acids. Examples include the characterization ofmicrobiomes (Bacterial V4 or custom amplicon),sequencing of small genomes, 96-well and 384-wellPCR setup or DNA quantification and other automatedliquid handling applications. Services are available a lacarte, ranging from fee-for-service to unassisted use ofthe equipment by trained and certified users.

The MARS (Microbial Analysis, Resources & Services)Facility has an opening for a Student Research Trainee.The trainee will assist the facility scientist and studenttechnicians with clerical tasks, inventory management,and general lab cleaning. Ideally, the trainee will take onmore responsibilities as their time at MARS progresses.There is potential for promotion to technician formotivated students.

Having completedboth tests with a score of 100%, you can gain access tothe space along with the tools requiring no additionaltraining.

How do I access the safety training?You should now have access to the HuskyCT Sitecalled "Learning Community Innovation ZoneSafety," which was created for students to be able toaccess the various training modules for the space. Youshould start completing the Green Level Safety Trainingso that you will be able to enter the LCIZ now that it isopen.
