Meet our School Admin and Support staff

Mrs Robyn Geale (School Admin Manager - SAM) I have been at Kapooka School for 19 years which has seen the name of my position make many changes along with adapting to new systems. I enjoy meeting our new families each year, however, is sad saying goodbye to the many that leave. I have 3 children and 6 grandchildren. Our son lives in London. I love to patchwork, sew, cross stitch, knit, crochet and enjoy early morning walks, however, most of all I love spending time with my grandchildren, husband and family.

Mrs Cindy Hounsell (School Admin Officer - SAO) On Thursdays I get to come and enjoy working at Kapooka Public School. I have been working at Kapooka school since 2005

I also work at Red Hill Public 4 days. I love to go walking and catch up with friends. I also enjoy spending time with my three children and husband of coarse! Our family loves to go water skiing and we love to go to Melbourne to watch AFL footy.

Ms Olivia Limbrick (School Support Learning Officer - SLSO) I think the best thing about my career is sharing a laugh with the students and also celebrating even the smallest amount of growth. This will be my third year at Kapooka Public School as an SLSO and I am just truly blessed to have this role. I have worked in education for 8 years and can confidently say it is my passion. I absolutely love and adore my family consisting of my Mum who is an absolute gem, my Dad the music man, my sister Gabi the Central coast voyager, my brother in law Luke, and my partner Mitch who is the kindest soul I have ever met.

In my spare time you will catch me watching Netflix on the lounge in some comfy clothes and a blanket. I also enjoy spending my time with my beautifully supportive friends who I just can't get enough of.

Mrs Rebecca Mantell (School Support Learning Officer - SLSO)

I have only been at Kapooka Public School for a short amount of time. I started here in September 2018. I have two children and enjoy spending my free time shopping, cooking and gardening.

Mr Kerry Geale (General Assistant - GA) I have been working at Kapooka School for many years. I look after the grounds and gardens and small maintenance jobs at the school. I like to help the staff and students with their planting of vegetables, plants and gardens. I am a horticulturist.

DSM News Last week, we held our welcome Morning Tea for our Defence Families. Thank you to all who were able to

attend. Helen Marshall, our FLO also attended. If you are still yet to return Helen’s “Keep In Touch” form,

please do so ASAP. Helen is here to support the Defence families in Wagga and she does an amazing job and

by returning the form, helps her to do so.

We love to see parents help in our school community and one way to support the school is through the P&C.

A few of our current parents who run the P&C may possibly post this year, so we will be on the lookout for

new volunteers. If you would like to be involved in the Kapooka school community, meet new people and be

a little social, this is a great opportunity to do so.

For families new to Kapooka and current families who may not be aware, I have a parent library in my office

that can be utilised by all Kapooka families. Topics range from: Education, Parenting, Looking after yourself

and your family and many more. Below are just a few examples of the titles that can be borrowed.

The Reading Bug… and how you can help your child to catch it.

Reading Magic: How your child can learn to read before school - and other read-aloud miracles.

1-2-3 Magic! Effective Discipline for Children 2-12: making the task of parenting a bit easier.

Every Kid: Parenting your Five to twelve year old.

Great Ideas for (Tired) Parents: The strategies in this book are easy to use & really work, even when you

feel right at the end of your tether.

Happy Times Together: Simple activities that will have you & your children creating unforgettable memo-

ries together.

Parenting: Create a calmer, more nurturing home environment.

Raising real people: Practical solutions to common problems drawn from parents, children and the au-

thor's own experience.

Getting Your Kids Active: How to have active, healthy kids.

1000 great Places to Travel with kids in Australia- a state by state guide.

When to really worry: mental health problems in teenagers and what to do about them.

Dealing With Sibling Rivalry: Get a greater understanding about the causes of sibling rivalry.

Bring Out Your Child's Confidence: Help kids achieve - independence, positive habits & overcome perfec-

tionism.

Bring Out Your Child's Best Behaviour: cooperative kids, positive behaviours & speak so kids will listen.

Please feel free to let me know if you would like to come and have a look on what is on offer.

Please remember to inform us if your serving member is away for any length of time. This provides us with

the information so we are able to best support your child/ren in times of absence.

Buddy Groups Our Buddy Groups have kicked off, with our Year Six students leading group peer support sessions with the other children. This is a great opportunity for them to develop their leadership skills and friendships with other children. Last week, the children played a game where they had to draw the body parts of a monster as the dice were rolled. We ended up with some very interesting creations!

P&C News Please volunteer for activities listed below. We require help to run these activities.

Volunteers - needed to help with our Mother’s Day raffle stall. We will be selling tickets between 10am-4pm on Sunday 19th April & Sunday 3rd May. We are hoping to have 2 people on at a time for 2hr shifts. Please contact the P&C if you can help.

Mother’s Day Craft - This year for Mother’s Day we will be helping each class make some handmade gifts instead of having a gift stall. Cost is still TBA. Helpers for this would also be greatly appreciated.

Volunteers/General Members - if you would like to help at any of our fundraisers/meal deals/gift stalls etc, you will need to become a general member. Forms can be found at the front office and the $2 can be left with the pink membership form filled in correctly and posted in the P&C PINK notes box. A WWCC Appendix 5 will also need to be completed.

P&C Uniform Shop - We will look at putting a winter uniform order in at the end of this term to ensure everyone has the appropriate uniform for the colder months. A uniform meeting will be held before our AGM to

discuss some changes to the current options for

uniforms. We would like community input on this matter

so please attend to have your say.

Gymnastics Gymnastics is well on the way this term with students participating in lessons each Wednesday for eight weeks. They have been focussing on balance, safe landing, whole-body control and hand-eye coordination. This week, our K/1 class had fun learning how to balance plates on sticks. They had to focus to keep the plates spinning and stable. It was trickier that it sounds!

Community of Small schools (CoSS) Kapooka School along with 3 other schools (Uranquinty, Ladysmith and Tarcutta Public Schools) form a ‘Community of Small Schools’. Group. When we come together for sport Gala Days in Soccer, Netball, etc, we do not wear our own sport uniforms, we wear a black and white shirt, as seen in this Photo, use the above logo and play as one under the ‘CoSS’ name.
