TEAM NEWS 24X7GURGAON: Rattled by the mid-night killing of a toll booth operator here on Friday, Gurgaon police on Saturday launched a massive manhunt to track down the assailants who had shot dead the toll operator for asking Rs 27 as toll tax.The 22-year-old toll booth operator Umeshkant Pandey on the Gurgaon Expressway on Thursday midnight was in the booth number 11 at toll plaza at the Kherki Dhaula (42nd Milestone) toll plaza on the Expressway when a man, driving a cream coloured Mahindra Bolero shot him dead after Pandey did not allow them to go since they had not paid the tax .

Gurgaon toll plaza staff shot dead as he asked for Rs 27
. .The argument apparently started when the driver insisted that he is allowed to go free as he was from a local village. With such permission to localites provided they showed proper identification, Pandey asked him to show his ID and then let him go by lifting the boom barrier. He had closed the booth's window by then. But CCTV camera footage shows the car driver asked him to open the window and then shot him in the chest from a point blank range (see pics). Since there was a lot of notice due to vehicular traffic, no one noticed the killing. The incident came to light only when a truck driver behind the Bolero informed this to the staff of Delhi-Gurgaon Super Connectivity Limited (DGSCL).
Pandey was rushed to Medanta-The Medicity hospital, where he died minutes later. Police has since seized the CCTV footage and is now trying to trace the vehicle and the people sitting in it. The CCTV did not shoot the registration number plate of the car and hence the cops are finding it initially difficult to move but they say they will crack the case soon
