FAMILY WORSHIP REFLECTIONS
In this week's worship reflection we continue to ask children and families to think about…
People who share their truth through their actions
How can we stand up for our truths? How does this influence others?
HEALTH WEEK Monday 10
th to Friday 14
th February 2020
Health Week Themes
Foundation Stage – keeping safe and people who help us
Key Stage 1 – healthy food and where it comes from
Lower Juniors – benefits of exercise, especially for those with limited mobility
Upper Juniors – Drugs, alcohol and smoking
In addition to the above themes, all phases will also be focusing on mental health.
Zones of Regulation (ZOR)
We are very excited to announce that we will be launching ZOR during Health Week. It will teach all children across
the school:
* How to recognise their emotions and characterise them;
* How to deal with those emotions using a toolkit of strategies;
* How those emotions may impact on other people.
‘Inside Out Day’ Thursday 13th
February
We are inviting all children to wear an item of clothing ‘Inside Out’ to raise awareness of mental Health. As it
encourages us to stop and think about how someone may look OK on the outside but inside they may be feeling sad
or worried. Those taking part can make an optional donation of £1 towards our school Wellbeing room.
Parent Session on Zones of Regulation (ZOR)
There will be an information session for the parents on Thursday 2nd
April at 230pm. To attend, please sign up
using this link: https://forms.gle/wFbWDGochMUHoKNb7
If you are able to come in and talk to the children about mental health, please contact your child’s class teacher.

Admissions consultation - September 2021/22
Following the recent consultation we would like to advise families of the outcome of the proposed admission
changes to the school and nursery admission policies from September 2021.
The governors considered all the parent responses during the consultation period and duly reviewed data from the
last 5 years of Year R admissions, analysing the impact of applying the new policy on these admissions. We found
that all applicants, both siblings in and out of catchment, as well as in catchment pupils would have been successful
in securing a place at Hordle Primary School.
Governors then reviewed the Trust Deed and our legal requirement to “provide education for the parish” and we felt
that the new policy was in keeping with this. The new policy would bring the school in line with the Local Authority
recommended admissions policy and is therefore fair and equitable for all.
After considering the views of respondents, the governors remained concerned that in-year applicants are being
disadvantaged by the current policy and the move to put in-catchment pupils higher in the admissions criteria will
make this fairer for families moving into the village. There is the possibility of further development within the village
which could also have a potential impact on future admissions.
Following these considerations, governors agreed that the new policy will be adopted for the academic year
September 2021/22 for all main round YR and in-year school applications.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank those who contributed to the consultation and would encourage
families to write to us again when further consultations on other matters take place in the future.
Kind regards
Hordle CE (VA) Primary School Governing Body
