1. Kannada Rajotsava. 2. Field Trip to Nursery 3. Grameen Camp 4. Children’s Day 5. Story telling competition.

My Experience being a teacher was quite challenging and

exciting .We always choose our profession either by chance or by

choice. I chose my profession by chance. My dream was to become a

software engineer, but unfortunately couldn’t continue with my

dreams.

I always thought being a teacher was such a boring and effortless job, where I will

neither be recognized nor can learn a lot. I began my career , as a teacher in

preschool .Later was promoted to handle higher grades. Both the experiences were

different .But, being in this profession I have enlightened many young souls and

minds.

Every day was a new beginning, new learning and a new challenge. Since I was

a Math teacher many of my students would hate me, as they had a phobia for the

subject Math .I began reading minds of my students, they weren’t happy about Math. I

was upset, I was disheartened, but I did not lose hope. My aim was to make my subject

interesting and instill positivity in my students. I completely engrossed myself in my

work, surfing net, reading blogs and books related to my subject, enamored by the

charm and razzmatazz associated with it. I found students loved playing. I began

innovating new techniques to teach my students and indeed it was a fun based

learning. And I would feel proud about myself when my students would solve the

problems given. My hard work didn’t go in vain. It took me a long time to reach my

target but at the end, result was fruitful, due to the founts of experience and passion for

teaching.

ENLIGHTENED YOUNG MINDS

My students wanted me to conduct Quality Circle Time . The topic given on that

particular day was ‘My Dream.’ The students shared their dreams and it was the

turn of a boy named Darshan and he spoke thus, “ Math being my impediment I

riveted all my focus towards it. But that year, I remember, like a harbinger of

spring, my Math teacher. Ms. Shilpa, spry and debonair supplanted all my fear for

the subject with love. As if a magnet, her teaching would automatically draw all

the attention towards herself. Her intoning descriptions would enable my ears and

eyes to listen and visualize the content. And I also shared my mother’s demise in

an accident when I was just three and that I could see my mother in you.” Both of

us were very much moved and was filled with tears. In her articulate explanations,

I owe my passion for Math to my teacher Ms. Shilpa.

Indeed I have not earned a million bucks but I have earned million hearts.

This year Orchids Nagarbhavi took up a unique initiative for the first time since its inception in 2014, to focus more on the oratory and recapitulatory skills of our budding stars in NURSERY. Excitement and anxiety played equal roles on the faces of our parents as they waited to witness the grand finale of the Inter class Rhymes competition. The children dressed in all their colorful costumes were a sight for sore eyes! Memory, pronunciation, presentation were all taken into account making it a tough decision for the judge to choose the winners!

The very thought of being outdoors can be a joy across all ages! As for the children of Kindergarten, such visits can sustain interest, spark learning, and create a fun visit for the child. The children of Pre Nursery and Nursery went on an exciting field trip to the aquarium nearby. They jumped with joy and clapped their hands in glee seeing the cat fish puckering up their lips, the gold fish darting about and guppies gulping down the fish food! They were excited to see so many tiger fish and angel fish too!

What children need most, are the essentials that grandparents provide in abundance. They give unconditional love, kindness, patience, humour, comfort and vital lessons in life. Given the strength in Pre Primary, the grandparents were invited in 3 batches to facilitate a good show. Our kids were excited to walk into school and show their classrooms and teachers to their grandparents .They saw their grandparents run races and enjoy the fun activities held. The young onlookers being our parents enjoyed seeing their own parents become young all over again! The children were thrilled to give their grandparents the medals they had prepared. Beautiful moments were captured at the photo booth! The day brought back many a nostalgic moment for all!

Stories create magic and a sense of wonder at the world. Stories teach us about life, about ourselves and about others. Storytelling is an ancient and valuable art that extends around the globe. In this unit, students develop their own storytelling talents, apply the techniques of storytelling, create storytelling guides, and perform a story for an audience. A big advantage of storytelling is that listening to stories enhances a child's vocabulary. The contest was one of the school's initiatives to provide the pupils a platform to express themselves in front of an audience. A total of 38 pupils from K2 were selected for inter section competition.

PRELUDE TO DIWALI! Orchids, Nagarbhavi planned this Diwali Dhamaka on 27th October 2016. Teachers worked relentlessly for two days preparing beautifully decorated lanterns with mehendi and mirrors, The energy and zest with which they worked was a constant reminder that nothing is impossible if we put our minds to it and it is the strength of a team that makes events like this a grand success!!! Yes, cheers to ORCHIDS!

Orchids Nagarbhavi wore a grand and festive look with the arrival of Diwali. A “Cooking without fire “competition saw dads cooking and enjoying with their kids! All the colours of the rainbow took form in the splendid Rangolis drawn by the mammas! Kids had a gala time participating in the “Diya decoration” counter and “Lighting up the world around us” corner. Parents and children wrote slogans to celebrate this Diwali as a Green Diwali. Beautifully decorated lanterns with mirrors and mehendi, swaying gently in the breeze were snapped up by eager parents. Long forgotten childhood games like “Spinning the top” and “Hopscotch” made the parents become kids all over again!
