I have been working for Caremark for over 2 years now. I came with some experience in care as I worked for a care company prior to joining Caremark. I really enjoy working here as each day is different and I am faced with different challenges. All my clients are lovely to me and appreciate me!!!

I am a qualified hairdresser and beauty therapist, which I still practice in my spare time. When I have the opportunity I like to escape from my busy life and visit my family in Devon. Devon is perfect as it offers relaxation, beautiful beaches, history and much more!!!

A neighbour of one of our clients called me, as they were concerned about her wondering around in a car park near her home. As I was unable to contact the

family I informed the neighbours I would be on my way. When I arrived I found her distressed shouting, “Help me.” All her clothes were covered in faeces; it was running down her legs. We took her into her home, while I washed and changed all her clothes her neighbours called 111 as she was feeling poorly, confused, dizzy and sick. She kept having loose motions and going to the toilet. We received a call back from a doctor who informed us it would take 2- 3 hours for a home visit. I eventually contacted 999 as my concerns for the client grew, she was becoming increasingly confused, dizzy and at times unresponsive. While I was cleaning the client up for the fourth time, the paramedics arrived. They did the normal observations on her and decided to take her to hospital, as she needed medical intervention. I ensured the client was well wrapped and prepared an overnight bag for her to take with her. After the paramedics left, I stayed on to clear up and check her home was safe before leaving.

We are now changing the way Carers are writing their log entries on all double-handed calls. At Caremark we are continuing to strive at

improving our ways of working to ensure a safer and transparent recording procedure.

This is the new procedure: -

If one Carer is writing the log entry, please just write what tasks you have completed. If you

have witnessed the second carer’s tasks, you can write these down too. Please sign the log sheets as normal.

The second Carer then either completes their part of the log entry, writing down the tasks they have carried out OR they MUST read what the first carer has written down and if they agree

with the information – please sign with your signature also.

As well as both your names appearing on the Log Sheets- both your signatures have to

appear also.

Your feedback regarding this new procedure will be appreciated, please let the office know so we can make any further adjustments.

The greatest of thanks to Anne, Who went over and beyond her duties as a Supervisor in helping auntie yesterday. I was so pleased that she was there and she did as much as she did in the emergency, which materialised. Auntie's neighbours were equally impressed with the manner in which she dealt with the situation and would be delighted to act as a referee for Caremark in their praise for Anne. She handled the situation with the greatest of ease and professionalism. We as Auntie's family are extremely grateful, so thank you very much Anne.
