The school attendance <igures (excluding nursery) for the last few weeks was 96.38%. The latest class attendance <igures are: Reception D: 98.44% Year 1A: 98.16% Year 1E: 98.08% Year 6L: 98.01% Year 5: 96.44% Reception R: 96.37% Year 6J: 95.74% Year 3: 95.64% Year 4: 94.82% Year 2: 92.18% Safeguarding Safeguard - to protect from harm or damage with an appropriate measure It is really important that we have up to date contact details for all our parents and carers so if your child becomes ill or we need to contact you for any reason then we can do so! There should also be other emergency contacts on your child’s <ile that we can call if we can’t get hold of the primary contact/s. We update our systems regularly but in the meantime if you know you or one of your emergency contacts has changed their numbers do please let us know! Thanks. Reports This year we are trialling a different format for our reports for children in Y1 - Y6. We are experimenting with a report that we hope will still give parents the key information they need but will also allow teachers to spend signi<icantly less of their valuable time in writing these reports. The adapted format (see back pages of this newsletter) will give an overview of your child’s achievements this year and whether they are working at, above or below the expected level in each subject, as well as some targets to support their continued progress for the year ahead. The reports will be available at the end of term parent-teacher meetings. During these meetings you will be able to discuss – and celebrate - your child’s progress in more detail as well as their behaviour and effort in class. We welcome feedback on how this trial goes after the parent-teacher meetings. PTA news Our next PTA (Parent-Teacher Association) meeting will be on Friday 21st June at 9am. Please do come along to <ind out about our end of term events including our Summer fundraiser and the ever popular PTA Disco. As always ALL PARENTS are invited, the more the merrier. Every parent and carer at Ashmead is automatically a member of the PTA so it would be great to see lots of you here. Many hands make light work and it would be great to hear your ideas for the upcoming and other future events. We look forward to seeing you here!

Subject attainment

Pupils’ attainment is compared to the expectations for their year group. Attainment is graded in the following bands: Greater Depth (GD): Pupils working beyond the standard expected for their year group, showing greater depth of understanding. Expected (EX): Pupils who are working at the standard expected for their year group. Working Towards (WT): Pupils working at the appropriate age curriculum, but who have not yet secured all the expected learning for their year group. Below (B): Pupils who are not yet working on the objectives linked to their year group.

Preparation for Learning

A full transcript of your child’s attendance up to Friday 5th July 2019 will accompany this report. The ‘Behaviour and effort’ section above will not be filled in beforehand but will be discussed as part of the Parent-Teacher meetings in July.

Attendance and Punctuality Behaviour and effort

Over and above

Attendance is 99% or higher and/or always in school on time.

A role model for other pupils due to their excellent behaviour and effort

Good Attendance is 96% or higher and/or very rarely late to school.

Always meets the Ashmead expectations for behaviour and makes consistently good effort with all work set.

Satisfactory Attendance is between 94 – 96% and/or usually on time for school.

Usually makes good behaviour choices and shows effort in class.

Room for Improvement

Attendance is below 94% and/or is occasionally late to school.

Occasionally misses learning opportunities due to behaviour or effort not always being consistently applied.

Cause for Concern

Attendance is below 90% and/or frequently late to school.
