The Service Bureau Disaster Recovery test is designed to be accomplished at a location outside the credit union local network. This simulates the inaccessibility of the credit union network due to a disaster. The credit union will no longer be required to send in a tape or request the disaster recovery test be accomplished by Bradford-Scott. The credit union can access the VPN to Service Bureau at any time. It is recommended that the user take a snippet of the VPN connection status for any audit purposes and run any reports and "Output them to file".

The new Service Bureau Disaster Recovery testing process includes installing and configuring Virtual Private Network (VPN) software, Cisco AnyConnect or ShrewSoft VPN Client, on a laptop and connecting the encrypted VPN to Service Bureau during a simulated disaster exercise.

A Bradford-Scott hardware representative will download the Cisco AnyConnect Client software package, configure the Cisco AnyConnect Client or ShrewSoft VPN software with the credit union VPN credentials, and connect to Service Bureau via the Virtual Private Network (VPN). After that, they will then log into the Sharetec Desktop, and log into Sharetec GUI during the initial set-up VPN installation procedure. The initial VPN software installation is a one-time procedure.

With questions – please reach out to your friendly Bradford-Scott Hardware team.

These TIPS are great for tellers, loan officers, and any Sharetec user! These helpful tips include hints, procedures, best practices, and miscellaneous items which can all be found on Support Center. If you have a tip you would like to share, email Megan at [email protected].

Tip of the Week

How to Save an Issued Check

If you have a check that you issue every month, you can save that check so when you need it, the payee will be filled out.

In Accounting workspace, General Ledger, Issue Check. Fill in the bottom like normal, before clicking on print check right click and click on save Entries. Your check information box will pop up, just fill in the check and then click on ok. Then the save entries box will appear, click on new and fill in the description that you will use to retrieve next time you need to issue this check. When you need to issue this check again just right click and click on get entries. Choose from the list, click on Print Check and your payee information will be filled out. If you need to update anything you still can before clicking on ok to issue the check. Cross-Selling Home Banking Promotions

When setting up a cross-selling promotion through home banking, several additional steps must be done compared to a standard setup in Sharetec.

1 In Admin Workspace > CU Controls > Promotions, the “where used” field must be selected for home banking.

2 On the Home Banking admin site under Credit Union Setup, the “Enable i-Frame Cross-Selling” box must be checked. 3 In order to add an image, the user will stay in the Home Banking admin site and go to Online Documents/Images. The image must be saved with the naming format: “xsell-<Cross-Selling Sequence Number>.jpg example (xsell-19.jpg). From there you will upload an image like normal.

4 You can set up the URL for the image in Admin Workspace >CU Controls > Promotions.

Unsuccessful Attempt Ordering Checks Through Sharetec

If the CU is attempting to order checks through Sharetec and nothing is happening, check the member’s phone number in the member properties. If there are any spaces in the phone number (E.g. between the number and an extension), this will prevent the system from taking the user to the check ordering site. Once the space has been removed, the check ordering site should open normally.

To find videos on the Support Center, search any of the keywords in the subject. If you have issues finding what you need, contact our Support Team for assistance.

If your credit union would like specific webinar training, we offer customized webinars to address your training needs. To arrange training, please contact Judy Fleming at [email protected]. Sharetec also offers free training at our office in Fort Wayne; these customized sessions can also be scheduled by contacting Judy Fleming. We have produced almost 100 short (5 minutes or less) videos covering many areas of the Sharetec system. Larger topics have been divided into a series of these short videos and have been placed on the Support Center. These short videos will help to reduce staff training time, as well as allow users to target a specific topic that meets their needs. Staff can view these quick videos during slow times, or a short window of time can be scheduled. We have a schedule of videos to produce, but are also looking for your ideas. If there is something you would like to see, contact Judy Fleming at [email protected] and we will work to create the content you are seeking. The most recent videos added are below...

“In our busy day to day service to our members, we got used to doing things a certain way. It’s very rewarding to learn better ways to advance the credit union for our

members’ service. Our staff benefits greatly from a refresher course on things they had forgotten or didn’t even know they could do to improve their daily processes.”
