RESEARCH LIBRARY

ST. LUKE’S RADIATION ONCOLOGY NETWORK

HSE Library www.hselibrary.ie SLRON’s new E-Library website

St. Luke’s Radiation Oncology Network is now part of the new National Health Library & Knowledge Service (formerly HSE Library). This means we now have access to all hse library resources currently available from the Dublin, Wicklow, Kildare region. Below we have answers to some of the queries you may have about our new e-library service. For regular updates on hselibrary you can follow us on twitter: @hselibrary https://twitter.com/hselibrary How do I access library resources? Go to http://www.hselibrary.ie/. From here you can search for journals, databases, ebooks etc. and avail of a number of library services. Please note that you will be required to log in via OpenAthens to access most of our resources. What is OpenAthens? OpenAthens allows you to access library resources from outside the St. Luke’s network. You also need an OpenAthens account to access some of our resources that are not IP authenticated from a hospital computer. How do I register for an Open Athens account? From the hselibrary homepage click on the ‘Set up an account’ link. From the ‘Select Your Library Service’ drop down menu select HSE (Dublin Wicklow Kildare). From the ‘Select a Hospital Location’ drop down menu select St. Luke’s Radiation Oncology Network. Fill out the form and click submit. You will then receive an email from OpenAthens with your username and a link to activate your account. What resources are available to me? To find out what resources you have access to go to http://hselibrary.ie/ and click on the ‘Your Local Library’ tab. Select ‘St. Luke’s Radiation Oncology Network’ from the list of local libraries. From here you will see a full list of resources available to SLRON staff including links to popular resources such as Cinahl, UpToDate, Psycinfo, Clinical Key etc.

This hyperlink will bring you to Clinical Key, from here you can browse journal

volumes/issues and download full text articles.

Why am I getting no results when I search for a journal title? If we don’t have a subscription to a journal title it will not show up when you search for it on hselibrary. If you would like access to an article from a journal we don’t have subscribe to you can request it as an interlibrary loan. How do I request an interlibrary loan (ILL)? You can download our ILL form by going directly to SLRON’s page on HSE Library: http://hselibrary.ie/st-lukes-radiation-oncology-network-library-dublin/. Click on the link ‘Order an article from St Luke’s Radiation Oncology Network’ and print out form. Fill in the relevant details and then email to [email protected]. You will be notified once your article becomes available.

How do I request a literature search? From the hselibrary homepage click on the ‘Submit a Research Request’ link. Fill in the online form https://lq-hse.interleaf.ie/portal/ and click submit. This request is then sent out to HSE Librarians. You will receive a phone call or an email from a librarian who has been assigned to your search request. The librarian will have a conversation with you about your search request and will then run a literature search based on the information you’ve supplied. A list of references and abstracts will be emailed to you. The librarian will also supply you with a search strategy document outlining keywords, MeSH headings, databases searched etc.

Help! I need training on how to use HSE Library? For training on hselibrary please go to http://hselibrary.ie/help/help-support/ If you would like departmental training on this website or on a particular resource please contact [email protected]

Lung treatment planning technique using flattening filter free beams. For people with cancer/who have had cancer, do social supports/psychological sup-

ports improve outcomes? In patients diagnosed with oesophageal and OGJ cancer, is there evidence that

multidisciplinary team care improves quality of care? In patients diagnosed with rectal cancer, is CT TAP (X ray computed tomography

thorax, abdomen pelvis) superior to other imaging modalities (chest radiography, ultrasound, MRI PET-CT) for diagnosing distant metastases?

What is the role of radiotherapy in the adjuvant treatment of maxillary sinus carcino-

ma and the clinically node negative (N0) neck?' Prostate cancer and survivorship In patients with borderline resectable pancreatic cancer, does neoadjuvant radio-

therapy compared with no radiotherapy improve resection rates; negative margins; disease free survival and overall survival?

For people with squamous cell carcinoma of the oral/anterior tongue (pNO/pN1)

does postoperative RT unilateral/bilateral compared to no RT result in better lo-cal/regional control and improved overall survival?

Finding the Evidence Below is a snapshot of some of the recent literature searches carried out by the librarian. If you are interested in any of the topics listed we will send you a full list of citations. If you have a clinical query or research question and would like a librarian to run a search on our databases and supply you with a search strategy please fill in the online ‘Submit a Search Request’ form available from www.hselibrary.ie.
