OCONOMOWOC, WI APRIL 25th, 2011: 2011 marks the 5 th Anniversary of the Greener Oconomowoc Earth Day Resource Fair event. This year the Earth Day Resource Fair will be held on Sunday May 1 st , from 11am – 3pm at Oconomowoc High School Field House (641 East Forest Street, Oconomowoc WI 53066). The 2011 event is FREE and OPEN to the PUBLIC! Special features of the Fifth Anniversary Earth Day include: (1) the unveiling of the Earth Day Resource Fair Program cover by Oconomowoc High School graphic design senior and City of Oconomowoc resident Korey J. Christiansen; (2) showcasing a live demonstration of an operational geothermal heating cooling unit, which will reject heat into a 55 gallon drum of water; (3) the FFA chapter will be selling plants out of their greenhouse at Earth Day and showcasing local agricultural at the Petting Zoo; (4) members of the public have the opportunity to enter to win Earth Day prizes donated from the business participants, several “green gifts” will be given away to event attendee’s. Items in the “green gifts” giveaway at Greener Oconomowoc’s Earth Day Resource Fair include: a home composter, rain reserve diverter kit, 2 tickets to EcoFair 360, $15 gift card to Books & Company, laptop lunch box, 500 green printed business cards, hanging basket, chiropractic exam and x-rays and many more items! Earth Day Resource Fair attendee’s will be able to pick up the blue country recycling bins and a 24-page program book, which contains a local recycling guide and other sustainable living information. The public is invited to bring #5 plastic, residential CFL light bulbs and old cells phone to the event in order to be recycled.                          Key Event Times: 11am - Earth Day Opens – Free to the public 11am – 1pm Kids Bike Rodeo (outside) - The rodeo aimed to teach and test bike riding skills to k4-4th grade students. Bring your bikes and helmets. Learn how to pump up your tires and fix your chain as well. Certificates, prizes and surprises for entrants. 11am – 3pm – FFA Petting zoo & Alternative Vehicles Show in large tent outside 12:00 pm - Presentation by 63rd Alice in Dairyland (Christine Linder) in the Kid’s Corner (cafeteria) 12:00pm – 1:45pm – Live musical performances by Hartland Music students (entry area) 12:00pm – 2:00pm – Locally sourced lunch served by Oconomowoc High School 3pm – Earth Day Ends Media Notes: Christine Linder the 63rd Alice in Dairyland will be on site and available for event interviews from 11am – 12:45pm. Ben Nelson – local electric vehicle enthusiast and coordinator of the Alternative Vehicle Show will be on hand and available for interviews regards his custom built electronic motorcycle or his DIY hybrid plug in electric car. Jim Shuda – local businessman and geothermal expert will be on hand to answer questions about the live geothermal heating cooling display at Earth Day.
