Excellence “…the LORD was with Joseph …and gave him success in everything he did.” - Genesis 39:2-3!The story of Joseph in the Old Testament is a great example of a person who approached life with an attitude of excellence despite enduring some pretty awful circumstances. Joseph’s brothers had seen their chance to get rid of him and they did, selling him into slavery in Egypt. But the LORD was with Joseph in Egypt and gave him success in everything he did. When sold to the captain of Pharaoh’s guard, Joseph was put in charge of his household. When wrongly accused and put in prison, he was put in charge of the jail. When brought before Pharaoh to interpret a dream, he was put in charge of all Egypt. God was definitely with Joseph, and He meant all of this for good and to save many lives. During our day to day lives, bad things happen; but that doesn’t mean that God has abandoned us! We need to remember that we are to do our best, obey and serve God, no matter what!!!!Prep Information Evening Parents of 2017 Prep students are invited to attend the Prep Information Evening on Tuesday 1st November at 7pm. The Information Evening will include how to prepare your child for school, a brief outline of the Prep program and the introduction of the Primary specialist staff. Supper, with an opportunity for informal discussion to address any questions that you might like to raise will conclude the evening. I look forward to meeting you on Tuesday evening. !Mrs Kimberlea Crothers!

Grade Three Excursion Grade Three students have been learning about pottery and have been making pinch pots during their Art classes. Next Tuesday during their Art lesson, they will be going on an excursion to the Bendigo Pottery to do a workshop and watch a professional Potter, working at the wheel. Students are excited to see what else can be made with clay and to see a real Potter at work. Please contact Sarah-Jane Guthrie, if you would like to come along and volunteer. The more the merrier!!

Remembrance Day Service On Friday 11th November, a Remembrance Day Service, run by Primary student leaders will be held at the College, commencing at 10.45am in front of the College flag pole. Parents are welcome to attend. Poppies are available for purchase at Reception. !!!Student Leadership 2017 Student leadership application forms for 2017 have been handed out to students in years 9-12. Throughout the year student leaders are provided with many opportunities to build leadership capabilities, through enhanced exposure to responsibility in a supportive learning environment. Students help organise events held throughout the year, provide support to their peers and lead them at College events. All of these opportunities enhance student transition into the community and the world of responsibility, whilst also reflecting the College values. The positions available in 2017 include:  !Two School Captains – From Year Twelve!Three House Captains – From Year Ten!Six House Vice-Captains – From Year Nine or Ten!Four SRC Executive Members – From Year Nine or Ten (President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary!Application forms need to be returned to Miss Stephen or the front office by Tuesday the 8th of November. !

Art competition Primary students have been busy drawing ‘Animals in Action’ in their Art classes for an ABC competition. They have come up with some great ideas. Some students have submitted their entries and they can be found on the following website www.splash.abc.net.au!

College Spring Fair The weather was glorious for our recent Spring Fair and the turnout of students and their families was fantastic. Much fun was had by all with the rides and activities proving to be very popular with the kids. All proceeds from the Fair will be put towards development of our new site. A huge thank you to teachers, students, parents and our amazing sponsors for their support and commitment to our College. 2017 College Uniform The Victory Christian College Board has recently undertaken a review of the entire school uniform. As a result of this review a decision has been made to firstly upgrade and modernise the College uniform and secondly change suppliers from Bendigo Uniforms Plus to Bolton’s Workwear Direct. Bolton’s has sourced our new uniform range from two top school uniform manufacturer’s; Noones and Champion Teamwear. The new uniform items offer superior quality and value for money for our College families.!Implementation of the new uniform will roll out over a two year period to allow ease of transition for existing families. Term Two, 2017, will see the release of a new winter sports and formal uniform, with summer sports and formal to follow in Term Four. Students will still be able to wear existing uniform throughout this period, replacing pieces as needed with items from the new range. Existing uniform will still be available to buy through to 2018 from Bendigo Uniform Plus.!New uniform samples are currently on display in the Administration Office for viewing and have caused much excitement amongst the students. We invite parents to come in for a look and we are happy to answer any questions. !To assist Bolton’s with prospective ordering numbers, an Expression of Interest Form and Uniform Matrix is included in this week’s Newsletter. Parents are asked to please complete and return the form to the Administration Office by tomorrow Friday October 28th. This will be a gauge of numbers required only, not an actual order of uniform. Items will be available for purchase from Bolton’s Workwear Direct in Williamson Street, Bendigo in preparation for Term Two, 2017. The possibility of a pre-order service early next year may become available depending on expressions of interest received. We will keep parents and students informed throughout the implementation period. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Grade Two Coliban Incursion On Tuesday, the people from Coliban Water came to our school. Their names were Sarah and Rob. They came for an incursion to teach us all about water. It was the Grade Two class that had the incursion. The first thing Rob did was to introduce himself. Next he read us a story. It was called Wizzy the Water Drop and the River Adventure.!Hannah Davies!Second, we all faced Sarah and then she showed us 5 bottles of different kinds of water and shook them. Some of them changed colour. Next Rob got kinetic sand out and showed us how water can travel. Then Sienna and I made our own landscape and it went through pipes into a lake and then to houses. After we looked at the interactive whiteboard and saw how the reservoir was made.!Mikayla Lea!

Island Breeze Rugby Plus team visit. Last Thursday lunchtime the school was visited by the “Island Breeze Rugby Plus” Team from Fiji. Island Breeze is a Christian rugby team associated with YWAM (Youth With a Mission) International. The Fijian team won the Rugby 7s gold medal at the recent Rio Olympics. The Fijian team was visiting Bendigo to compete in the Rugby 7s Tournament held here in Bendigo on the weekend. Our students had a great time with them at lunchtime, as they ran some rugby drills on the school oval, sang and danced a traditional Fijian song and spoke about being a Christian rugby team on the international arena. !
