It has been found that there is no shortage of opportunities for employment to the deserving peo- ple and hence it becomes very important to have a good prepara- tion for interview to prove the worth of the job aspirants. Normally the recruitment proce- dures are conducted in three phas- es, namely, Pre-screen- ing, Formal Job-interview and Checking of references and verifi- cations of Antecedents. The pre- screening process starts with the receipt of CV by the prospective employer. The invitation for the for- mal interview is the second phase of the recruitment process. Formal job interview gives the job aspirants to sell themselves for the job. Proper utilization of the oppor- tunity during formal job interview will certainly help the job aspirants to get the jobs. It is to be remem- bered that during the formal inter- view the prospective employer tries to find out how the job aspirants behave personally in different con- ditions. Further the prospective employer tries to find out whether the job aspirants will be able to cope up with the job culture of the prospec- tive employer and meet up all of their expectations. A well prepara- tion in this regard thus can be very helpful on the part of the job aspi- rants in getting the employ- ment. Some frequently used interview tips are mentioned below for preparation of formal oral interview. Types of interview techniques: - 1. The straightforward chronolog- ical interview, where the job aspirants are asked questions around their CV / Application form. 2. Criterion referenced inter- views, where the job aspirants are asked to give examples to prove how they meet the job cri- teria like examples of teamwork, negotiation/ leadership skills etc. 3. Off-the-wall questions, where job aspirants may be asked some bizarre questions. This practice is done to evaluate the analytical, logical and creative skills of the job aspirants. 4. Pressurized interviews, where job aspirants views will be chal- lenged (or even laughed at) to make them feel like being forced into an argu- ment. If this happens to any job aspirants they should not loose their emotional com- posure and always keep in mind that it is a test to evaluate how job aspirants react under extreme pressure. 5. Procedure for preparation of a face to face interview: 1. Job aspirants should re-read their CV and prepare for all the proba- ble questions likely to be asked on their CV. The frequently asked questions on CV are like present employment profile of the job aspirants, the reason for which they desire to change their pres- ent job etc. Candidates should always keep in mind during the interview that the question will be asked to judge how they are best fitted for the vacant position and whether the aspirants can cope up with the work culture of the prospective employer. Hence CV should always be prepared with the information which can be sub- stantiated during the interview time. 2. Wearing the right clothes during the interview time can help job aspirants to get the job. It is not necessary that candidates have to wear new clothes during the interview. But it should be neat and clean and well pressed. The job aspirants should always wear a formal dress in which they feel comfortable. Among those changes, the most important one is considered to be the emergence and spread of metro rail system. The word metro actually comes from an abbreviated form of 'Paris Metropolitan'. That was quickly abbreviated to metro, which became a common word also used to desig- nate all subway networks. A metro system is regarded as a rapid transit train system. In some cases, metro systems are referred to as subways or undergrounds. As of April 2014, 168 metro systems in 55 countries are listed. Let us have a peep into the origin and history of metro systems in the world. The world's first urban underground railway was the Metropolitan railway, which began its operations on January 10, 1863. It was built largely in shallow tunnels and is now part of the London underground. It was worked by steam trains, and despite the creation of numerous vents, was unhealthy and uncomfortable for pas- sengers and operating staff. The idea of an underground railway linking London with some of the railway ter- mini in its urban centre was proposed in the 1830s, and the Metropolitan Railway was granted permission to build such a line in 1854. It opened in January 1863 between Paddington and Farrington using gas-lit wooden car- riages hauled by steam locomotives. It was hailed as a success, carrying 38,000 passengers on the opening day, and borrowing trains from other railways to supplement the service. Followed by this historical beginning of transportation system, on July, 1872 British company "The Metropolitan Railway of Constantinople to the Galata Pera" was registered. On December 5, 1874 the construction was completed and it started carrying people on January 17, 1875. The United States has been using the oldest subway tunnel in Boston that is still in use dating from 1897. Later subway lines to carry heavy rail trains were built. The New York City has the world's largest four-track line, stretching 9 miles (14.5 km). The old- est subway in the Southern Hemisphere, Subterráneos de Buenos Aires, opened in 1913 in Argentina. It used to carry 190,000 passengers daily, and is a tourist attraction as well. On October 17, 1919, the Madrid Metro was opened, which today is one of the longest metro systems in the world. In 1924, Barcelone Metro came into existence. The first underground metro in the USSR was opened in 1935 in Moscow. The Moscow Metro is one of the most elaborately decorated undergrounds of the world, with its stations often being called underground palaces. 2012, the Moscow metro had 308kilometers of railways and 186 sta-tions and is one of the busiest metrosystems in the world. In the late 20thcentury, many new European metros, some driverless and rubber-tired,appeared in medium-sized cities, especially in Spain, France andItaly.Meanwhile the Toronto Subwaywas opened in 1954. The MontrealMetro was the second subway sys-tem in Canada and was inaugurat-ed in 1966. The first undergroundsystem of Brazil was opened in1974 in nation's largest city. Metrode Santiago is the metro systemserving Santiago in Chile. It is anetwork of five lines with a total of85 stations, and the only SouthAmerican rubber tired metro. InColombia the Metro de MedellinCompany operates in elevatedinfrastructure in downtown area

and on-level parallel to the river. The construction of the system hadastronomical cost overrun that leadto a great public debt. Cairobecame the first African city with ametro system, partly convertedfrom a railway line since 1987.Asia's first cities to have subwaylines were Tokyo in 1927 andOsaka in 1933. Beijing subway, thefirst in China began operation in1969. In 1979, the Hong Kong'ssubway line began operations.Since 1974, a number of cities inSouth Korea have also developedmodern and extensive subway sys-tems. Singapore developed Mass RapidTransit in 1987 which was theworld's first heavy rail system to fea-ture platform screen doors. Metroswere built in Taiwan in 1996, Iran in1999, UAE in 2009, Saudi Arabia in2011 and the list continues. Metro Rail in IndiaRapid transit in India consists of

Metro, Monorail and light rail sys-tems. The first rapid transit system inIndia was the Kolkata Metro, whichstarted operations in 1984.'Elattuvalapil Sreedharan', popularlyknown as the Metro Man was behindthis great effort. The metro rail sys-tem in India is popularized and devel-oped due to his amazing efforts andhard work. The Delhi Metro was India's firstmodern metro which began its opera-tion in 2002. Rapid Metro RailGurgaon, which started operations inNovember 2013, is India's first pri-vately owned and operated metro. Metro rail lines in India are composedof both standard gauge and broadgauge. Projects like the Delhi Metroused broad gauge for their earliestlines but most new projects in Indiaare on standard gauge as rollingstock imported from Europe is onStandard Gauge. One exception isthe Ahmedabad Metro, which hasplanned to use Broad gauge, as there

is more space available inside thecoach. Indeed, development of metro sys-tems across the globe is itself aninteresting journey. In this great jour-ney, we can find several milestones. The Hong Kong metro is equippedwith 3G cell phone service, theCopenhagen metro is a 24/7 driver-less electric system, the Arsenalnametro station in Kiev, Ukraine, is theworld's deepest (346 feet under-ground) metro, the Moscow metro iscommonly regarded as having themost beautiful stations in the world, the New York City subway (with 468stations) is the largest subway sys-tem by number of stations etc. Thejourney is not completed. Let's waitfor more wonders in the metro world.
