Fifty years of Newick Rugby Football Club,
who would have thought it! Certainly none of the motley assortment of
players who turned up one sunny Saturday afternoon in September 1964 to
play against a Haywards Heath XV. Many of the Newick players had never
played with an oddly shaped ball before and certainly , as can be seen from
the photos , no one had anything that could be called a team strip just a
requirement that what we wore didn’t look too much like the oppositions.
That was the first game that Newick played and here we are fifty years later
celebrating our Golden Jubilee with a packed season of fixtures and plenty of
exciting social events. We look forward to welcoming you to at least one of
these events or, at the very least to supporting the club on the touch line.
The strength of the club lies in its members, both players and non-players ,
and the fact that we have a strong team spirit with a conviction that the club
must continue and maintain its reputation of being the friendliest club in
Sussex !
Here’s to the next fifty years of Newick RFC punching well above its weight ! Doug Alexander & Martin Barling – Presidents, Newick Rugby Football Club

The largest Timber Merchant in the South East.
Alsford Timber has been around since 1882. Everything
that makes up the modern world has happened in our
lifetime - we've literally seen it all. Of course, there's been
enormous change. From our humble beginnings selling
timber and fencing in South West London, we've grown to
become the largest timber merchant in South East
England, with 18 branches across four counties we trade
in Kent, Surrey, Essex, London, East Sussex and West
Sussex. But we're still true to our founders' values of
expertise and excellence in everything we do.
We've spent over 130 years creating the Alsford brand
you see today. Because, like you, we believe in building
things to last.
