their attractiveness to related to newcomers
and youth, and benchmark against
comparable communities.

Background
• In 2012, the “Community Attractiveness Indicators for
Newcomers” tool was released, which was based on the
Conference Board of Canada previous work focussed
on cities.
• The Rural Ontario Institute managed the project to:
• Upgrade the tool with the new 2011 census data.
• Expand the tool to include new indicators about
youth in rural Ontario .

The tool is available free of charge to any municipality and not-for-profit organization in Ontario.
