Term 3 - Week 6
Principal’s Message Great cause for celebration as I
proudly acknowledged the
non-teaching members of staff as
part of SASS Staff Recognition
Week. When presenting certificates
and gifts, I expressed my thanks to
everybody, saying I feel like I have won the lottery
with such wonderful staff at NMS. I also added that
teachers would feel they struck gold with their
fabulous SLSOs who support their class groups. We
are lucky to have an amazing group of Admin staff,
SLSOs and GA who always go above and beyond for
all of us. Without the dedication, support and
professionalism of the SASS staff, our school would
not be able to operate. The contributions our SASS
team make to ensuring our students receive quality
education and care has never been challenged as it
has been this year, and every one of you have
stepped up to deliver.
We celebrated with a staff morning tea and I
presented each SASS staff member with a
certificate thanking them for being so amazing, a
lucky lottery ticket and gold chocolates! Workng with
such dedicated staff makes work a pleasure. Thank
you and happy SASS Recognition Week.
Transition update for Year 8 parents and carers:
You should have received an email from Kirsty at
Senior School with a link to a Parent Information
Session for Year 9 students of 2021. This
PowerPoint goes for a little over 22 minutes and
provides information that would normally be part of
the Parent Morning Tea. As you know COVID-19
has affected many regular scheduled activities for all
schools, including Transition and orientation
activities. This is the link for you to follow to the
presentation:
https://youtu.be/FREHpyd8ibY
Your child’s teacher has also sent home today a copy
of the Senior School’s Parent Information Book with
a question / contact slip attached for you to return to
NMS for us to pass on. Please do not hesitate to
contact myself, Jess or Kirsty at Senior School about
any issue.
Aboriginal Education: each month, our classes
have been completing cultural and / or research tasks
as part of their learning and to present at Assembly.
This month’s was related to an Aboriginal Dreamtime
story and to produce a 3D model. All classes are very
engaged in this aspect of learning and cultural
understanding about Aboriginal histories, traditions,
culture and language.
Pie drive reminder: thank you for those families who
have already ordered goodies form Thompson’s
Pies. Flyer and order form attached again this
newsletter.
Thanks and kindest regards,
Judy Mouthaan
Principal
