Learning

intention

We are learning to investigate and evaluate

inventions through history.

We are learning to investigate and evaluate

inventions through history.

We are learning about addition and

subtraction

Success

criteria

I can:

● rate an invention using a criterion for

success

● draw and label my own invention

I can:

● Think about how inventions make our lives

easier

● identify how my life would be different

without a particular invention

I can:

● I can add and subtract using random

numbers using my knowledge of fact

families

Task Webex remote teaching session

WebEx class lesson starts at 9am.

Please log on 5 minutes before and have the

resources listed below ready.

You will need:

● Device with internet access

● Writing paper

● Pencil

Please note:

● Attendance will be marked.

1. Watch: ‘10 inventions that will make your

life easier’

https://safeYouTube.net/w/dWqO

2. Look around your house or classroom and

choose an invention that makes your life

easier. For example, instead of having to

cook your food on a campfire, you might

have a stove to cook it.

3. Draw a picture of you using the invention

4. Draw a picture of what you would have to

do if you didn’t have that invention

For example:

With the invention Without the invention

Finding basic patterns in fact families.

1. Use the BookWidget Random number

wheel to get 2 random numbers

2. Add the two numbers

3. Make sure you spin the wheel at least 5

times and write down your addition

problem and then solve.

For example, if you spin the number 5 and

10, you would write 5 + 10. I would then add

5 and 10 and write my answer which is 15.

5+10=15.

If you cannot access ClickView or BookWidget,

cut out the images below and paste them in the

order of when you think they were invented.

For example:

How to make a tiger carrier

My pet tiger gets too tired to walk so needs to be

carried. An invention that helps move the tiger

around without it having to walk would be very

useful for a tiger, and a zookeeper. As tigers are very

heavy, the invention will make sure the user is

comfortable and safe.

Materials:

- blanket

- rope

- velcro

- scissors

- glue

- stapler

Steps:

Step 1: cut out a square from the blanket that is big

enough to cover a tiger

Step 2: staple and glue the rope to the edges of the

blanket.

Step 3: cut four holes in the blanket for the tiger’s

legs, and one for the tail

Step 4: attach the rope to the velcro

Step 5: put rope over shoulders and attach with

velcro

Conclusion: your tiger carrier should look like this:

Memories

A playlist is a list of songs that

are played one after the other.

To make a playlist of memories,

you’ll need to think back to

songs that remind you of

particular times in your life.

You may have heard a song:

· On a day out

· On a family holiday

· At home with a

special person

· At school

These songs could be:

· Family songs

· From an assembly

· From a show

· Something you have

danced to

Once you have thought about

your playlist, speak to a family

member and tell them all about

it. (Next week you are going to
