From our chieF oF staFF… Sanctuary Renovations Progress Report

Well, this is the countdown week for receiving the bids for our sanctuary renovations project, and we are continuing to prepare for the move. This ar-ticle will explain the actions we will be taking as well as providing a tenta-tive timeline of when we think these actions will take place. Construction Bids The contractors will submit bids on April 9, 2021 no later than 5:00pm at which time the bids will be evaluated in view of making recommendations to the church staff, property committee, and finance committee. The possi-bilities are as follows:

The Lowest & Best Bid Is Within The Approved Budget If the lowest and best bid is within the approved budget, a recom-mendation will be submitted to the property committee to proceed with executing a contract with the bidder submitting the bid. The Lowest & Best Bid Is Slightly Over Budget, But Within The Approval Authority Of The Property & Finance Committees If the lowest & best bid is over budget by an amount less than equal to $ 5,000 both the property and finance committees will be contact-ed for advice and consent on how to proceed. Any committee actions will be reported to the deacon body and congregation. The Lowest & Best Bid Is Over Budget By $ 5,000 Or More The architect and contractor will prepare recommendations to reduce the price by implementing design changes and/or scope reductions. These recommendations will need to be approved by the property committee, finance committee and church staff. Any committee ac-tions will be reported to the deacon body and congregation.

Start Date Each contractor has been directed to submit an estimated start date with their bid, and that will be a part of the evaluation criteria. We will not be vacating the sanctuary until such time that the successful contractor can guarantee with some level of certainty that construction activities will begin. The cur-rent “best guess” for the earliest possible worship date in the FLC is April 25, 2021. We will provide regular updates on the start date. Prayer Request To quote the country song East Bound and Down, “We’ve got a long way to go, and a short time to get there”. Please pray for your staff and committees.

You are invited to a Drive Through Baby Shower in honor of Abby Calhoun and their Baby Girl.
