Introduction

The Autoflame Exhaust Gas Analyser is an inexpensive, reliable way of monitoring combustion gases. Further development has enabled us to log this data to an internal storage device for combustion analysis, as well as meet certain approvals in both the US and the EU. These new developments can be found in the new range of Mk.7 E.G.A. products.

Standard Mk.7 E.G.A.

The Standard Mk.7 E.G.A. provides the following features:

• 10.4” Touch-Screen• Trim on the O2, CO2 & CO when using an M.M.• 24 hours of exhaust gas, temperature & efficiency

datalogging• Combustion limits (i.e. absolute and offset limits from

commissioned data)• Operates as either a standalone unit, or with an M.M.

providing trim• 6 x 4-20mA outputs providing gaseous values, efficiencies

& temperatures• Cell Status and logged unit errors/faults

Exhaust Gas Calibration

The latest software release enables a new Exhaust Gas Calibration feature.

To perform an Exhaust Gas Calibration, please do the following:• Re-enter the calibration codes for the cell that is having

issues• If this does not solve your problem, place the burner at a

hand firing position, and insert a portable analyser into the stack

• Wait until you have a steady exhaust gas reading on your portable analyser

• Select the gas(es) that you would like to calibrate, and enter the read exhaust values

• Start the exhaust gas calibration procedure

C.E.M.S. E.G.A.

The Continuous Emissions Monitoring System (C.E.M.S.) E.G.A. has the following features:

2 years of data logging for the following information:• O2, CO2, CO, NO, NO2, SO2 weights, volumes and readings

at current firing rate, and totalised (scalable)• Temperatures, pressures, efficiencies • Fuel consumed (based on MM fuel flow metering, or a fuel

flow meter) at current firing rate and totalised value (scalable)

• Provides ability to totalise emissions histories across multiple E.G.A.’s through the Mk.7 D.T.I.

• This Period Last Year (TPLY) comparison of data for weights, volumes and average readings.

C.E.M.S. Upgrade

It is possible to upgrade an existing Standard Mk.7 E.G.A. that has already been purchased.

• The E.G.A. is required to be returned to either Autoflame USA or Autoflame UK so that it can be reprogrammed

• During the C.E.M.S. upgrade, the latest software upgrade will be installed

• Any 2Gb SD cards will be replaced with 4Gb cards (if required)

• If the E.G.A.’s are operating with a Mk.7 D.T.I., an additional wiring link is required from the E.G.A.’s to the D.T.I.

C.E.M.S. Auditing with the Mk.7 D.T.I.

To enable the Continuous Emissions Monitoring Software on the Mk.7 D.T.I., an additional data link is required between each E.G.A. due to the increase of data being supplied from the E.G.A.

E.P.A. Approved Mk.7 E.G.A.

The E.P.A. approved E.G.A. meets all requirements set by the Environmental Protection Agency.

The E.P.A. E.G.A. Includes all software from the C.E.M.S. package, but also includes:

• Additional back box enabling ability to self-calibrate sensors every 24 hours

• 6 Connectors added to the bottom of the E.G.A., so that 6 different span gas bottles can be added for self-calibration purposes

• Heated Sample Line to maintain Exhaust Gas temperature during sampling

• Quick connect H.S.L. fitting on the top of the E.G.A.

Self Calibration

The E.P.A. E.G.A. self calibration process occurs once every 24 hours. During this process, the cells are each recalibrated using a zero value, and a span value. The following configuration options are available:• Span gas selection with gas volume configuration• Customisable timings for delay, sample and purge of each

span gas• Ranging of 4-20mA signal from fuel flow meter to maximise

accuracy• H.S.L. operating ranges configuration

Additionally, the E.P.A. E.G.A. has the following information:• Cell A2D logging over 365 samples (i.e. a years data at 24

hour self-calibration intervals)• Graph indicating remaining life and accuracy of each cell

Heated Sample Line (HSL)

• Requirement from the E.P.A. and MCERTs E.G.A.’s. • The Autoflame Heated Sample Line maintains the exhaust

gas temperature until the gases enter the E.G.A.. • Gases are kept in a gaseous state. • The HSL operates by using a PI loop• The P band can be set by using the E.G.A. configuration

options

MCERTs Approved E.G.A.

The MCERTs approved E.G.A. contains all software that is included in the C.E.M.S. & E.P.A. E.G.A..

The MCERTs E.G.A. also requires a temperature calibration of each cell installed in the unit (provided as an additional temperature calibration code)

Changes in ambient temperature cause very slight changes to exhaust gas readings. To compensate for this, each MCERTs cell board is temperature calibrated.
