In 2009, Brees led the Saints to a 31-17 Super Bowl victory over the Indianapolis Colts, and he received Super Bowl MVP honors for his 32 pass completions. In addition, the Saints’ win bolstered spirits in the New Orleans community, which was still recovering from the devastation of Hurricane Katrina.
Throughout his career, Drew Brees has
amassed four 5,000-yard passing seasons,
including a 6,404-yard campaign (pre- and
postseason combined) in 2011. That same
year, he attained a 71.2 completion
percentage, the highest single-season
average in NFL history. From 2009 to 2012,
he threw at least one touchdown pass in 54
consecutive games, setting another NFL
record.
