New Member Orientation • On June 8, 1940 The
Michigan District was formed, the FIRST organized district in the Society. In 1968, the Michigan District was renamed the Pioneer District reflecting its’ importance in early barbershopping.

The Pioneer district is comprised of 27 chapters and approximately 1,200 members
New Member Orientation The District Leadership Team is led by a Board of
Directors. These elected volunteers are responsible for the successful operation of the district.
They are assisted by an Operations Team. These appointed volunteers assist in carrying out district
functions in their area of assignment

along with the District Collegiate Quartet, and District Quartet Representative. The
quartet(s) that qualify, go on to compete at the BHS International Convention in July.
Fall ConventionThe District Quartet Champion is named
along with the District Chorus Representative. This chorus goes on to compete at the BHS International Convention in July.
