Study Visit: Gas Transmission Aspects, Bonn and Essen, Germany (1)
The study visit provided participants of the PCs with an insight into the DVGW* organisation, including how it is structured, how the technical rules are included in German legislation and the relationship between DVGW technical rules and European standards.
6
* German Technical and Scientific Association for Gas and Water
Study Visit: Gas Transmission Aspects, Bonn and Essen, Germany (2)
The participants visited Open Grid Europe (gas TSO) which demonstrated the particular case of the German gas sector and how they apply DVGW technical rules.
On the last day the participants visited a gas technical institute which provided a practical demonstration of how the DVGW rules and European standards are used.

Training Course & Study Visit on Sustainable Energy Policy, Latvia and Lithuania (1)
The combined event contributed to the development of integrated energy policy that develops renewable energy sources (RES), improves energy efficiency (EE), and brings economic benefits to the PCs.
Training Course & Study Visit on Sustainable Energy Policy, Latvia and Lithuania (2)
Participants gained knowledge about necessary reforms and processes on the way to creating conducive environment for sustainable energy.
The event will help INOGATE PCs to take a step forward in approximating their policies and laws to European standards.
9
Key Energy Statistics Results (1) Increased regional cooperation on energy statistics
through the establishment of an Energy Statistics Network;
Increased capacity of National Statistical Institutes in the collection, compilation and dissemination of more consistent and reliable energy statistics.
10
Key Energy Statistics Results (2)
Developed Energy Statistics Action Plans for the 11 INOGATE Partner Countries;
9 Partner Countries have endorsed their respective Action Plans.
11
RESMAP “Support to energy investments” (1)
RESMAP is a geospatial mapping tool developed to assist in sustainable energy investment planning.
12
All these PCs expressed strong interest in RESMAP.
ToR for implementation is now being fine tuned and discussion with PCs about commitment letters are on-going.
Scoping missions were conducted to Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine in the spring of 2014.

INOGATE Success Stories
16
INOGATE helps its Partner Countries in Central Asia save 15 bcm of gas losses
worth EUR 3 billion (1)
17
The total volume of reduced natural gas leakage in transmission over four years (2010-2014) was about 15 billion cubic metres (bcm), at a saving of almost EUR 3 billion.
INOGATE provided technical assistance to identify gas leakages.
More than 450 national experts were trained.
INOGATE helps its Partner Countries in Central Asia save 15 bcm of gas losses
worth EUR 3 billion (2)
18
The environmental benefit of this reduction of gas losses into the atmosphere by KZ, KG, TK and UZ has been found to be the equivalent of about 226 million metric tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (Mt CO2e).
Making energy statistics in Partner Countries more reliable
19
ITS has assisted each PC in developing an Energy Statistics Action Plan (ESAP);
ITS has provided the tools and methodologies for data collection and compilation of all energy statistics, balances and energy efficiency indicators over the past two years;
ITS is encouraging the submission of five annual joint Eurostat/IEA/UNECE questionnaires to the IEA, which disseminates statistical figures and energy balances for OECD and non-OECD countries.
Over 100 oil and gas standards being adopted by INOGATE Partner Countries (1)
20
INOGATE has provided technical assistance on standards for oil, gas and electricity in four projects.
Over 100 oil and gas standards being adopted by INOGATE Partner Countries (2)
21
Inter-state standard EN12405 on conversion devices for gas meters helps to reduce errors and increase the accuracy of gas meters thus reducing gas losses (and financial losses).
Six PCs have considered this standard as their number one priority.
In 2013, AZ, MD and KG adopted this standard.
AM, GE, KZ and UA have included it in their annual standardisation plans for adoption in 2014.
