All campers must be New Canaan YMCA members in orderto participate in camp. This is an annual membership andalso entitles participants to sign up for classes and enjoythe Y year ‘round. See a Y staff member for a tour of ourfacility or for more information.

Before starting camp, all campers must have completedcamp paperwork and returned forms to the Y. Forms maybe downloaded online at www.newcanaanymca.org andare available at the Front Desk.

The New CanaanYMCA Summer Camps have provided thousands ofchildren in our community with a camp experiencethey never forget. Our camps offer a variety ofexperiences for children of all ages and abilities,with each camp offering safe and supervised funprovided by a caring, responsible staff. Camp MiniAGES 3-5 (PRE-K)

Your child’s first summer camp experience is aspecial one. The YMCA’s Camp Mini provides asafe, nurturing, and age-appropriate environmentfor children ages 3-5 (pre-K). Camp Mini offerscreative learning, recreational, and socialexperiences for our campers, who enjoy activitiesdesigned to teach new skills as well as provide lotsof fun! Held at the Y, Camp Mini provides a safeand comfortable camp experience for children toplay, grow, and make friends.

Sports CampCOMPLETED GRADES 1-7

A Summer To PlayThrough their participation in sports, we watchchildren develop skills that can be taken beyondthe field or court. The YMCA Sports Camp helpscampers build these skills through an excitingand sports-filled experience, including baseball,basketball, soccer, tennis, hockey, gymnastics,wiffleball, kickball, lacrosse, and many othercamp games. Activities within each of thesesports teach kids basic skills and refine existingones, ensuring that every camper has fun witheach sport, regardless of their ability orexperience. In addition to skill development, eachsport also emphasizes teamwork, sportsmanship,and self-confidence—skills that are essential notonlyin sports, but translate into so many otheraspects of our campers’ lives.

L.I.T. and C.I.T. ProgramsL.I.T.LEADER-IN-TRAINING(AGES 12-13)Offered at Camp Y-Ki and Sports Camp, the L.I.T.program has been designed as a bridge betweenbeing a camper and being a L.I.T. This program isan opportunity for enthusiastic teens who maystill be “campers at heart” but are ready to lead byexample and be positive role models to youngercampers. These young teens will have anopportunity to enjoy age-appropriate andchallenging group activities within our traditionalday camps. In addition to having fun, they will havelots of opportunities for team-building, leadershipdevelopment, problem-solving, and developing skillsfor working with children of a variety of differentages. By the end of the summer, each young teenwill gain personal growth, self-confidence, andself-motivation.

DATES AND FEESRegular camp dates and fees apply. Please seespecific information on Camp Y-Ki and Sports Camppages. Register as a participant at the camp ofyour choice (Sports Camp or Y-Ki).

C.I.T.COUNSELOR-IN-TRAINING(AGES 14-15)Do you remember your favorite camp counselor?Here is your chance to learn all you need toknow to become a memorable and impactfulcounselor and role model to campers. During theeight-week Counselor-In-Training (C.I.T.) programparticipants will have the opportunity toexperience and explore Camp Y-Ki, Sports Camp,and Camp Mini. The YMCA C.I.T. program offersteenagers ages 14-15 the unique opportunity tomake a difference in their community, whilecreating peer relationships, developing leadershipskills, and learning more about the needs of theircommunity. While it’s about learning, it’s alsoabout fun. YMCA Counselors-In-Training will enjoycool events such as off-site trips; guest speakers;special events and a lot more! All interested youthmust be 14 before the start of the program. This isdesigned as an eight-week program. C.I.T.candidates will need to commit to and complete atleast six weeks in order to be eligible for a stipendat the end of the program.

HOW TO APPLYTo be considered for this program, complete thenecessary application (available online or at theYMCA) and return by March 29. Applicants will benotified by April 29 with regard to an interview.

DATES AND FEESJune 27 - August 19Fee: $800 program fee. $200 program rebatefor successful completion of at least six weeksof the program.

Special Cares Camp

A Summer For AllSPECIAL CARESFULL-DAY PROGRAMWe believe that children are first and foremostchildren, regardless of need or ability. The NewCanaan YMCA’s full-day Special Cares Camp offerschildren with varying limitations a traditionalsummer camp experience within our three daycamps. By creating an inclusive program as abilityallows, campers participate in such activities asswimming, sports, arts and crafts, outdooradventures, special events, and more!

FEES, DATES AND TIMESThe SCC Full-Day program is an integrated partof each YMCA day camp. All dates, times and feesare consistent with those pertaining to eachindividual camp.

SPECIAL CARES HALF-DAYPROGRAM AT CAMP Y-KiOnly available to students enrolled in extendedschool year programming with outside support.

Designed to accomodate ESY participants in gradesK-6, this half-day camp option allows campers toarrive for lunch at 12:15 and be immersed in thecamp day. Half-day campers will have the full campexperience through both specialized and inclusiveactivities. Available only at Camp Y-Ki.

Synchro CampsGIRLS AGES 6-12

Synchronized Swimming CampSynchronized swimming is the perfect combinationof dance, gymnastics, music, and water! If yourchild enjoys any of those activities, they will lovesynchronized swimming. The two-week sessionswill introduce your child to the sport whileenhancing their flexibility, endurance, and overallcomfort in the water. Basic synchronized swimmingskills are taught along with a routine that ischoreographed to music that is heard under thewater as well as above.

Ages 6-12. No Experience Necessary!

Diving/Gymnastics CampBOYS AND GIRLS AGES 7-13

A Great Way To Tie The Two Sports IntoOne Camp Experience!Designed to incorporate diving and gymnastics intoone special camp. Activities will be spread out in atwo-week session. All skills involved will be helpfulfor beginning gymnastics and diving elements.Participants must be prepared for all activitieseach day. By the end of the camp, participants willgain personal growth, confidence, and a newknowledge of these sports in a fun environment.

DIVING SEGMENTPerfect for the athlete who has a limiteddiving list but wants to learn the backbone ofthe sport.

GYMNASTICS SEGMENTA structured class with the goal of teaching basicsand improving current skills. Participants will beintroduced to compulsory moves.

Registration InformationONE WEEK PRIOR TOREGISTRATIONBefore online registration can take place, amember must have an e-mail address on file in ourmembership database in order to open your onlineregistration account.

Please contact us at [email protected] send us your e-mail address, or come in to theY in person. This must be done at least oneweek prior to registration.

When you “log on” the first time for onlineregistration, you will receive a user number andpassword emailed to you.

Once you open your online registration account,you are eligible to register for any online registrationsin the future.

READY TO REGISTERAll campers using online registration musthave current memberships.

Camp registration can be done online atwww.newcanaanymca.org, or at the Front Deskbeginning February 28.

If you do not yet have an online account withthe New Canaan YMCA, please set one up at least oneweek prior to your registration. To set up an onlineaccount, go to the Y website and followthe prompts under “Registration.” For help,call 966-4528.

Determine correct camp placement by notingwhat grade the child is currently in, as well asany age requirements.

Please be sure to fill out the summer camp forms eitherfrom the website or from the Front Desk by June 1.

Online registration will end Friday, April 29, 2011.Camp registration will continue at the Front Desk untilall spaces are filled. All campers must have currentmemberships through the end of camp. At this time,registrations including Special Payment and Financial Aidmust be handled at the Front Desk.

CAMP REFUND POLICYPlease be aware of the YMCA’s Refund Policy (statedbelow) prior to registering for camp.

Memberships are absolutely NON-REFUNDABLE.

Should the participants cancel by May 1, 2011, afull refund will be provided less a $15 per-person,per-session processing fee.

Should the participant cancel after May 1, 2011, a fullor prorated refund, less a $15 per-person, per-sessionprocessing fee will be provided based on when thespace is filled. If the space is not filled, no refund willbe issued.

Should the participant cancel prior to the first day ofthe camp session due to a medical reason, a full refundless a $15 per-person, per-session processing fee willbe provided upon written verification by a physician.

Should the participant cancel due to a medical reasonduring the camp session, a prorated refund, less a $15per-person, per-session processing fee.

FINANCIAL AIDThe YMCA strives to serve everyone in our communityregardless of individual economic circumstances. Thescholarship application process is confidential andbased on need. Applications are available at theYMCA Front Desk and online and must be completedand returned to Carol Antrum by March 30, 2011(2010 Federal Income Tax Return required).Scholarships are made possible by the generouscontributions of YMCA donors.

Registration opens February 28 at 9:00 AM.

Financial Aid applicants must register (with$50 per-session, per-child deposit) at the YMCAFront Desk.
