The VS9155 provides multiplexing and bandwidth optimization for ASI signals over OC-3c or STM-1 networks.

The VS9155 multiplexing and de-multiplexers provide the most efficient use of available bandwidth. The VS9155 have been developed to maximize the number of channels into 155Mbps SONET/SDH network tributaries with a total useable payload of 147Mbps. The VS9155 individually manages, controls, and protects each transport stream, enabling multiple customers to be served on a single 155Mbps carrier.

    Applications Professional broadcast contribution

    Studio-to-studio media exchange

    Live sports and event contribution

    Managed video services over SONET/SDH

Key features Multiplexes four DVB-ASI transport streams (TS) into

    one OC-3c/STM-1/STS-3c (155Mbps) output

Maximizes ASI payload capacity (up to 147Mbps over a 155Mbps network)

Inputs can be fed by VS9500, supporting up to a total of 16 TS

Individual channel bandwidth ceiling provides total control over capacity available to client (to a resolution of 0.1Mbps per TS)

ASI inputs can be switched to any demux output

Error correction and checksEach ASI input is independently processed for Reed-Solomon

error checking and correction. In addition all signals are

monitored for DVB validity (PID, PAT, PMT, ES and SES)

SecurityEach ASI input is assigned conditional access codes (2 layers)

for secure content delivery, ensuring that signals are directed

    to the appropriate destinations.

ProtectionOptional dual optical inputs/outputs for path diversity with

automatic protection switching on failure for network

BITS reference support. Supports synchronization of

    redundant links with deterministic latency.

Local loopbackA loopback feature is available to provide reverse channel

termination and QoS validation at transmitter

Forward error correctionReed-Solomon FEC can be applied to each ASI TS for reliable

    transmission

NEBS Level 3Certified to perform in Telecommunication installations

providing reliable performance in harsh environments.

Front panel LED indicatorsThe front panel LED bank provides a comprehensive overview of both the card status and traffic status. Utilizing three-state LEDs (off, green and amber or off, green and red) payload and network faults can be quickly diagnosed providing immediate remedial guidance to in-station personnel. Fault finding tables are available with the product.

External alarmsNormally open relay contacts. Closed for major and minor alarm signals.

Element managementThe Ventura AEMS shelf element managers, FCS183-AEMS and FCS101-AEMS, provide a comprehensive set of status, control and alarm variables through a Web interface. The AEMS is a powerful Linux based embedded management system that also supports SNMP and XML. It also acts as an agent for card upgrades, storing multiple images for each card in the VS103 or VS101 chassis. Users can apply these images to install upgrades from a remote location.
